SSS Defence is a fascinating story - one of the only 100% 'Made In India' Defence companies, they went from manufacturing springs to building world class rifles and ammo. It was great talking to the founders, Dinesh and Vivek, about their journey, facets of defence procurement, manufacturing in India, and other nuances of building in the Defence sector. As someone who operates in the software world, this was a truly inspiring experience watching how they're building these fabulous machines from scratch - I hope you like this conversation, it was a LOT of fun putting it together. A HUGE shoutout to the SSS Defence team for being such kind and gracious hosts, we loved spending time with you all. Thanks as always to the crew: Gunjan, Thiru, Jacob, Hatim, Navin and the rest for all of the effort in pulling this off. If you guys like the content, then don't forget to share this with your friends and family!🙂🙏

As a Former Canadian Air Assault & Mechanized Stryker ( LAV6) Infantry NCO commander. I can tell you having a national firearms culture is critical. Strong manufacturing base comes from top shelf Civillian gear which then meets Mil-spec standards. Often times civillian standards are superior to Military grade standards. For example 2.5 million registered firearms owners in Canada and another 2 million non registered. U.S.A has 2nd amendment..India should adopt this system

I don't know if a gun culture like the one that you have in Canada or the US would work in India. As India is a cultural, ethnic & religiously diverse nation. Where some or maybe one group thinks they have a right to the land. And the rest do not belong here. This thought was only restricted to the right wing, hindu extremist political groups. Who were a minority. But right now the thought seems to spread everywhere because of islamic terrorism & evangelism by Christians. If, say the Hindu government allows a gun culture then they cannot "pacify" (genocide) any group that seeks to defend it's cause. Like the one witnessed in Gujarat, Orissa/Odisha & the recent rape & murder of the Manipuris. Where the Hindu -Meitei group were given modern assault rifles to pacify the Christian Kukis who were protesting peacefully to defend their right to what they say is their land. In matters relating to communal violence, India is a volatile nation. As Indians are an emotional people. The West is built on Judaeo-Christian ethics, so guns can be regulated to the ordinary people. Because an ethical, kind & a generous people will not misuse their weapons. Not that you don't have problems like Trudeau or crime on the streets. But the proportions cannot be matched while dealing with a corruption ridden culture that is seen in India.

Thanks a lot to d team, for me being Arms enthusiast, this video means a lot. I was waiting for d content from d day u posted it on X. D video is important because there r highly educated intellectuals who say India never ever can make wpns that meet global standards, for them SSS Defence is an answer. It has been a dream to make India self sufficient of equipments that gaurds India. When d Man defending us is Indian, why d equipment he uses be of other's. NOBODY SHOULD POINT & SAY THAT INDIA WON WAR BECAUSE OF IMPORTED WEAPONS. While we make projectiles that goes in space, why can't v make projectiles that reach 1000 meters.

Hats off to SSS D within less period of time, they have managed to make AR platforms, to what I can see at d background, M72 has been made to use piston instead of DI, it's clear in some of d pictures in X, there's a sub machine gun very much similar to early P72 short stroke varient but with side latch or push button type mag release since it lacks rear latch, it has also got d mag well it's very much comparable to Cz Scorpion evo 3 & d fn Scar SC varient but with 9 by 19 rnd. & D new P72 long stroke version d AK varient. SSS D has great potential, It's gonna be India's HK, SIG SAUR, KC for sure.

1:16:00 I like his answer because it is grounded in brutally honest pragmatism. Chinese despite their reverse engineering have caught up a lot in terms of technology, but in terms of production they is no competition not, even the Americans can match them, The latter is having trouble producing enough shells to supply its allies in Europe. The Chinese way of civil military fusion is something that was initially perfected by Americans but post soviet collapse, America's entrepreneurs and workers within large startups(google being the quintessential example) especially in the Valley went on this whole left liberal tangent of being anti aggression where they refused to work with certain sections of US establishment due to "moral concerns". The result was the collapse/stalling of a more comprehensive civil military joint efforts than what would have been.
Chinese dont have this problem, Their citizens even without State inducement are quite patriotic meaning, working with state interests is seen as a matter of pride. They also dont place ideological obsessions above national interests. Plus China's legacy MIC manufacturers like Norinco are already industrial behemoths. China v India would be the equivalent of pitting a Tesla Model S against a maruti suzuki alto. Its not going to be fair fight and our room for mistakes is far far more restricted owing to our under productive industrial complexes. Americans are learning this the hardway, but they have capital, high quality labor and when they are focused organizational efficacy from the govt's side, to throw at the problem. We lack in every one of those criteria. DRDO is a general waste except for DRDL, unlike ISRO which answers more or less directly to the executive, DRDO is under the thumb of short sighted penny pinching ministerial m0r0ns.

100% made in India ?? A person no less than the COAS called out their bluff in a recent forum.
Pvt companies are selling their stuff to the forces, and all SSS is sitting complaining.
This company wants the army to straight-away place orders for lakhs of their untested rifles, without supplying 1 single complete rifle to anybody in the world.
Even the name of the company is German (SSS - Stumpp Schuele & Somappa). They should probably start with a 100% made in India name.

Where? lol. SSS is owned by Indians. None of the small arms being sold by other pvt companies are indigenous but foreign products.

For your kind information, army disqualified SSS defence from a big competition because they don't have a certain financial capacity. It's just an excuse to disqualify the only indigenous manufacturer from the lucrative contact.

@@ismt101 Why is it an excuse ? Or, are you saying that taxpayers money should be used to set up a private company ?
if tomorrow even if the army does that, you people will cry corruption.
Did the MoD build up financial capacity of MKU, SMPP, Tonbo ? They setup their own operations and built competitive products. SSS did nothing but complaint about not getting orders.Even this 100% made in India would turn out to be a lies.

Don't lose hope SSS defence...we are sure they bought those SIGs to placate US pressure plus to take advantage of the low price of bulk availability of the 716s lying about.
The govt should subsidize and allow SSS to sell guns outside of India- that's the only way our MIC grows on its own.
Also we hope SSS defence releases product videos more often!
