The reason the camera won't focus on the words is because it's trying to focus on your face, when you hold the yarn closer to the camera, put your palm behind it so the camera will focus better on the words on the yarn but leave it there long enough to adjust and don't keep moving it to speak into the camera as each time you do this, it's readjusting to focus on your face again.
