Outstanding padel lessons. As someone coming from tennis, I must say I learn a lot of things from your videos. Plus very few lessons are found online still and yours are very well made and explained. Short, to the point, fluid, with examples and colored zones, just a perfect format. Thank you so much for giving this content for free!

Great Video Sandy!. Tons of information in a very short amount of time, but very clear as usual.
For defending diagonal shots, I always have the foot closer to the glass be align between where the ball is going to be hit and the corner where the glasses meet. So a straight line from ball, foot, corner. That way it is easier to tell if a ball is going to hit the back or the side wall first. If the ball is coming between your legs, then is back wall. If it is going on the outside of the foot aligned with the corner, then it will hit the side glass.
Keep up the amazing work Sandy!

I played my third match today and you would swear I played for much longer. Thank you for this video, it was very helpful especially the positioning and the patience. It really is about patience and not trying to make every shot a finishing shot

Anticipation aka "Reading the Game" is something that I feel is almost impossible for some people to learn. No matter how much they practice or how good of a technique they may have but they always struggle on court positioning, reading the upcoming shots or bounces from the wall or when to go for a riskier shot and whatnot. They just seem not to have that gene in their blood :)
    Good video :)

    • @Lycian17
      @Lycian17 3 года назад

I also feel like it helps a lot when you have experience with other sports, even if they are not related to padel. Reading your opponent is very common in a lot of sports (football, basketball, tennis, etc.) and it's easier to do it in padel if you are already experienced doing it in other sports.

@@Lycian17 Yes! Some of the guys I play with are missing the 30+ years I spend with other rackets (tennis, squash, golf, table tennis, hockey etc). The background obviously makes a huge difference although I find padel to be the game with the easiest learning curve which is wonderful!
The things I find easy or I’m taking granted or self explanatory might be super hard for players missing the critical age 8-20 with any racket. It’s a shame it effects on everything and almost impossible to catch up. I find this to be really interesting topic to discuss and almost impossible to plant the info to a player with no such background

thank you very much for this 😊😊 I am learning to play, and I kind of know how to hit the ball... but I have no idea how to move on the court. I am going to take notes and try this next time. 🤘🤘

Thank you for all your content, am learning a lot.
One issue I have in my game is court positioning after my team hits a lob.
I make sure that I’m a little behind the white baseline, and this serves me well if the opponents hit a mid-pace bandeja or similar.
But if the opponents smash or slap it deep, I’m caught on the back foot trying to half volley a fast ball, because I know there’s no way I’ll be able to react quickly enough to let the ball go and then sprint up towards the net to get the ball off the glass.
Any advice? It’s happening a lot in my matches.
    Thank you!

The key is to recognising it…actually the youtube video that came out today might help address this: pulse.ly/vgcwynyg4l
You need to watch the body motion of your opponent and as soon as they look to hit hard then you immediately move forward.
