I feel how Mike feels on a deeper level than most. I’ve skated my whole life, it’s my passion, there were times when the only thing that kept me going was the thought of spending an hour at a spot trying to big flip a 10 stair or something along those lines. I was in a car wreck in 2014, met an 18 wheeler at an intersection head on, we were both going 60mph, I ended up spending the next 6 months in a wheelchair, then the 6 after that relearning how to walk. The only thing that kept me going was skateboarding, I refused to even think about the fact that I may not ever be able to skate again. Now here I am 5 years after taking my first initial steps again without needing crutches or anyone’s help and it just isn’t the same, I can’t even ollie off a 4 foot ledge without my legs feeling like they wanna give out. I work out everyday and it still isn’t the same, and I’ve come to terms with the fact I’ll never be able to skate the way I used too.
Can you still roll around and carve and stuff? Even just doing slappies might bring you joy again. Just keep pushing and try to become a low impact skater and you’ll find a new path.

I felt the same about not wanting to skateboard because you can't do the same tricks and rip anymore. I jacked up my ankle to the point I couldn't skateboard the same. I was bummed out because I wasn't having fun skating anymore.
There's a huge difference between a switch flip back smith and a regular nose slide, I don't blame him for not having interest skateboarding after putting so many years into it.
MikeMo was one of my favorite skaterboarders back then when I was just starting to skate. his style and solid technical flatground skills were too advance during those years. he inspired me to skate at my best. to learn more tricks and enjoy every moment I try to learn and do new tricks. It’s just sad to know that he’s not like he’s used to be in skateboarding anymore because of his injury. Thankful I got to see Mike Mo in his prime in 2014, I was so inspired that day. He did a steezy Switch Flip down the 5 stair at house park. Mike Mo is a really cool dude
Love mike mo, really sucks that he got hurt. I remember waking up early to watch fully flared and skating flat in the garage before having to go to school. He had me so hyped to skate
The best of the best always get injured. I'm 31 and as everyone does who's heavily into skating I looked to the past before absorbing the future generations of skaters. John Cardiel was a massive flag in dedication and aggression accompanied with style and great personality. I feel the same way about Mo, he left his mark as they said in a huge way, I followed Mo as he was coming up and love his style in everyway. Personally feel like one day he'll give alot more to skateboarding just in a different way. His parts were and still are the parts that I watch before I go skate. Also, why has someone not filmed Mo VS Koston golfing?
I was 13 years old when my cousin I looked up to showed me fully flared and I started skating and taking skateboarding seriously wanting to learn good flat ground and learning new tricks I love Mike mo thank you for being such an inspiration
I am here 2022 to not forget mike mo. Growing up he was pushing the limit. He had big flips and switch tre on locked. He was going big and still is. Just like they said he pushed the limit. I remember and still thinking everytime i skate i wanna get my tricks on locked like he had it.
His Fully Flared part, with da smooth skating, editing, effects and the Arcade Fire song was so damn good, it was pretty sweet! Nostalgia man, we love you Mike! And of course we remember you dude ❤️
Man. 2007/2008 I looked to Mike Mo as an Idol. His skating, his chill attitude. I'll always be a fan. If I could have taken the golf cart injury in place of him, I would have. I wanted to see what else he had for the skateboarding world so badly.
Even as an older adult kid, I couldn’t imagine not skating. I play it safe now, but I can only imagine his torment. Respect to his humbleness and humility. #MIKEMOFOREVER
I was prescribed suboxen and got off dope and started skating heavy again. But I physically couldn’t get to the level that I wanted. I got off the suboxen and I got back on the board and had no interest because I was in even worse physical shape then when I was on it. Detoxing takes all motivation away. I’m getting back into it now and stoked on it again. I can relate to mike not feeling skating that much. Hyped to see if I can get back in shape and skate like I’m used to.
When I started skating, Mike Mo was at his skateboarding peak. His Fully Flared video part was known to every skater, it felt like. Everyone wanted to tre flip like Mike Mo and made jokes about apricots. Mike Mo is an absolute legend and I wish him well in every regard.
When I started skateboarding in 2008, Mike Mo was my favorite skater. Obviously because of his part in Fully Flared. I loved those shoes too. Wish he was still able to skate 🥲
I love Mike Mo passion and style. I had a brain injury 2006 from skateboarding. My life passion. I have never touched another skateboard since. I get the fear. Physicality is different. I am happy to see he doesn't have a mental block. It's a physical block. That is very important to skaters with bad injuries. Thank you for this interview. Please interview skaters with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) from skateboarding. That is a very important piece that is ever recognized. Please highlight this in any way possible. Please. Awareness if at all else. Thank you I loved this. I am a subscriber now. Again thank you.
Props to Mike Mo! Dude is a legend on the board and can still outskate 99.99999% of the world. Life is fucked sometimes and he's handling it like a man, you can't change the past. Gotta just keep going and remember the good times like he said
Used to watch fully flared every day before I'd go skate. Mike Mo's legacy in skating will last a lifetime for the generation that grew up looking up to him!
I’ve been skating on and off for about the last 10 years and recently just got back into it again. Mike Mo’s Fully Flared part is really what turned me into skateboarding and he was my childhood hero no cap. I was astonished when a few of my friends today said they had no idea who Mike Mo was and I had to show them his Fully Flared part for the first time. Granted they had only been skating for the last 4-5 years but still wtf. Mike Mo literally changed the game. This man should be a 3x SOTY by now.
He’ll still always be my favorite skater. Glad he’s doing well and staying in the game in the slightest way. I hope he always remains in the skate scene

In 2013 i developed like the harshest type of Bipolar Disorder. People might that’s a joke, but it ended my carreer. No energy for 8 months then manic episode and hospitalization. Finally I get good meds, but after 15 years of skating I basically slowly hung it up. Because I can’t do it the way I used to and it just fucking sucks. And everytime I try pushing it, it still doesnt work out at all. I feel you Mo.
Breaks my freaken heart man. I’m glad he looks at it in a good light. I think of it as remember the NBA players who won championships and had all the best accolades but their careers ended from injuries. Man there were so many but not all of them looked at these times gracefully.

I got fully flared for Christmas when I was a kid. It was my first skate dvd, I'll never forget that opening mike mo part! Its the only reason I even tried skating switch. I also ran into him after the injury at skate lab and he was playing skate with all of us and still so good. Skateboarding won't forget him.
You will always be remembered for what you were! For me you are one the best skaters I ever seen. You were a breaking point Skateboarding. Love you! 🛹💖
So crazy to hear this. I was once a skater and got injured. Couldn’t skate anymore. I was never pro but locally sponsored. I picked up golf after, and haven’t stopped since. That was 15 ago.
Also an injured skater, he summed it up perfectly. I teach now but I do not put an effort myself anymore. I don't find it fun to fall 50 times for a simple trick I just love the feel of riding. The standard of my skating is much higher than what I can reasonably do after knee surgery
I just youtubed "mikemo" just to see some new footy, this was not what I wanted to see. That fully flared video came out right at the time I really got into skating... Thanks Mike for the instant classic. Even the 1st BATB and winning it. You are the real man!

I still watch your Fully Flared part and let me tell you man it makes me go out and skate like a mad man! I will never forget about ya and the many many many tricks and possibilities you brought to skateboarding. Thanks👍
when all his friends begin to get old and skating slows down for them, he'll have a head start on showing them how to let skating go, and how to make skating less part of his identity rather than "clinging " to skating past the point of when its time to let it go. Buddha says it best, "clinging " is pain. Great attitude Mike Mo. What a great attitude to overcome that circumstance. I'm learning from this brother. All skaters can take something away from this. Thanks dude. Stay strong 💪
You can still skateboard as you get older. The question is will y ok be ok with skateboarding on smaller obstacles such as slowly grinds and slides on curbs and working blocks or do basic mini ramp tricks as you get into your late 40s, mid 50s? I personally love it enough to where I'm okay with that as long as I can even if means switching from ollie noseslides back to slappy boardslides and noseslides. I want to skateboard until I really have NOTHING left. It's not only about weather my your body can allow it, it's also about wanting it. I respect Mike Mo's decision in not wanting to go through all that again. I also think it has to be more frustrating that skateboarding didn't injure him.
I feel this. I been skating since I was 5 years old. Just loved cruising and being on the board. Never got into doing a ton of tricks but always had fun till I tore my meniscus at 19 years old. Haven’t been on one since

Mo is sadly the perfect case of "the more you fuck around, the more you gonna find out". He fucked around and found out way too much. He is a legend. P-Rods Forecast was an insane experience. Mo was an instant isnpiration.
My favorite skater back in the day. I remember being so excited when I got a Mike Mo signed board from the berrics before it sold out. legend.
I felt the same about not wanting to skateboard because you can't do the same tricks and rip anymore. I jacked up my ankle to the point I couldn't skateboard the same. I was bummed out because I wasn't having fun skating anymore.
I’m somewhat there but I’m pushing the limits , knee pain
@@stevenskates8077i feel this plus ankle surgery years ago
There's a huge difference between a switch flip back smith and a regular nose slide, I don't blame him for not having interest skateboarding after putting so many years into it.
MikeMo was one of my favorite skaterboarders back then when I was just starting to skate. his style and solid technical flatground skills were too advance during those years. he inspired me to skate at my best. to learn more tricks and enjoy every moment I try to learn and do new tricks. It’s just sad to know that he’s not like he’s used to be in skateboarding anymore because of his injury. I hope one day that he can overcome that burden he’s going through and be able to skate again without having thoughts back in his mind.
My doctor just told me today that I have permanent foot drop. Literally having to quit riding for the same reasons as the legend himself right here I’ve been crying all day
I remember watching fully flared and being absolutely blown away. He is definitely one of my favorites. Honored to be able to meet him and Jerone Wilson at Woodward PA. Watching him play skate with Chico brenes and will forever be a cherished memory. ❤
we will forever love mikemo🙏🏽 i can see it in his eyes its still there in him but dont worry brotha youre solidified!
Cardiel wasnt even skating at the moment. I cant imagine being the best of the best and then its all gone in one second.
For sure Cards was my hero and the godfather of gnar! Imagine Navarette or Trujillo with no Cardiel.
5 months later... Batb 12 Mike mo vs Eric koston
I started skating because of Mike Mo and watching the Day in the life videos 🤙🏼
Mike Mo is the fucking man. Miss you dude. I knew there was an injury but not the details. Appreciate this a lot. You guys rule.
Keep on fighting the good fight
5 years off in February. Best decision ever!
When I started skating, Mike Mo was at his skateboarding peak. His Fully Flared video part was known to every skater, it felt like. Everyone wanted to tre flip like Mike Mo and made jokes about apricots. Mike Mo is an absolute legend and I wish him well in every regard.
Love the way he stays in control. Shitty situation but awesome mindset. True legend.
When I started skateboarding in 2008, Mike Mo was my favorite skater. Obviously because of his part in Fully Flared. I loved those shoes too. Wish he was still able to skate 🥲
Watch the latest battle at the berrics. It will make you happy
Mike Mo's attitude is really relatable. Congrats for moving forward
he was such an amazing skater i loved watching him skate this still bums me out
so sad - he was one of the best and especially funniest. enjoyed him so much back in the days
I’m 34 and Mike Mo back in the days was my favorite skater ✊🏼
Man my heart goes out to him man it’s like taking something so sacred away from someone….
Props to Mike Mo! Dude is a legend on the board and can still outskate 99.99999% of the world. Life is fucked sometimes and he's handling it like a man, you can't change the past. Gotta just keep going and remember the good times like he said
“Skateboarding doesn’t even get brought up at this point. It’s pretty interesting.” That is so heavy coming from Mike Mo 😢
This dude is an icon God bless Mike Mo
Same thing with me i skated my whole life never having a injury i got sponsored by my local skate shop and a month later i messed my kneee up couldn't land switch off anything higher than a five stair cause my leg couldn't absorb the impact ...that was about 10 years ago and i still think about it and it makes me sad/mad
fully flared masterpiece da memories man, all the best mike mo
i still have prods video "Forecast" with like a 15 year old mike mo part. one of my fav parts ever. switch flips and heels were already perfect. so sad to see him go out like that. a fuckin golf cart accident. hope he finds new happiness in something
i think Nigel filmed that?
Ah ha! I couldn't think what vid he was first in, cheers bro!
Left my ankle fracture untreated years ago didn’t even feel or notice it now I’m in this stage of skateboarding…, shit sucks I feel for you mike mo, we gotta keep going!!
Yao Ming, Brandon Roy, Greg oden, jay Williams’s etc...
Met mike mo back in 2015 at Circle A skate shop in San Jose, one of the nicest dudes ever
Mike’s such a great skater he def makes part of the history
Skateboarding was my life as well seing this man not able to chase his dreams still is mind boggling, growing up in south central am not having the resources made me just hustle jus bout flipping the dollar now when pretty sweet came out man that shit was something unfortunate you have to have love an jus do it for fun can’t vacuum seal a board .. never give up you might loose a lot along the way but just follow your happiness
fully flared changed my life man. love your shit, stay positive and keep growing in whatever you're into!
Man you can tell how much it hits him at 5:50 when he's self-comforting talking about how he wants to remember skating
Without a doubt mike mo influenced and inspired me to skate every day, he will always be one of my favorite skaters/role models on and off the board.
No doubt. 100 % agree
I just youtubed "mikemo" just to see some new footy, this was not what I wanted to see. That fully flared video came out right at the time I really got into skating... Thanks Mike for the instant classic. Even the 1st BATB and winning it. You are the real man!
Very healthy mindset Mo glad to see you doing good and hope Vince is good.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Bro. Mike was one of my favorite skaters I just started skating again after a few years off cos of an injury of my own and to find this out sucks so bad but I’m really happy he seems to be handling it well.
Dang that’s crazy! It’s sad really!! He was a beast!
Mike MO! You were one of my favorite skaters back in the day man, wondered what happened. So sorry to hear what happened with your injury. Wish you all the best, remember the good times and know you are important to alot of people. You the man Mike MO!
I still watch your Fully Flared part and let me tell you man it makes me go out and skate like a mad man! I will never forget about ya and the many many many tricks and possibilities you brought to skateboarding. Thanks👍
You the man Mike you and prod are the reason I skated
when all his friends begin to get old and skating slows down for them, he'll have a head start on showing them how to let skating go, and how to make skating less part of his identity rather than "clinging " to skating past the point of when its time to let it go.
Haven’t been on one since
God Bless Mike Moe And Every Skater Amen🙏
