Please continue this series. Feels like there are a ton of hidden gems between the 5-7/10 range there because devs dared to do something different. It feels like many gamers are only comfortable playing subtle variations of the same games over and over. I find that disappointing, because nearly all I find that gets any attention looks like copies of games I have played so many times over. Been there done that gameplay. Difficulty being the only thing evolving. I find that very boring. This is the main reason I skip more than 99% of double and triple A titles.

Phoenotopia Awakening is my favourite indie game of all time, and I'm always overjoyed to see it get called out in list videos like this one. I have been a fan of your channel for about a year now, and I shouldn't be surprised that you had the excellent taste to name Phoenotopia as a previous GOTY, but I'm still grinning from ear to ear. I wish I could convince everyone to play it.

One of our favorites too and criminally underrated!

Banner of the maid is a underrated gem and a must play for any fan of tsrpg games. Man I forgot about that castle remastered game with its art style that looks like a unicorn ate to much Skittles then threw up on old film reels. Enternights is a strange game because people seem to either hate it or love it, there's no middle ground there. I feel like a 69 is fair.

Aragami definitely needs to be added to this list, but yes. All of these are definitely damn underrated

I was very impressed with Eternights and I had trouble putting the game down when reviewing it because I was having so much fun. For me, what the game does well is so charming and entertaining that it makes the flaws seem very minor, and with the great time I had playing through the game multiple times, it seemed odd to me that it didn't get a great critical reception. Friends that I recommended the game to also enjoyed it, so maybe it was a case of critics just not understanding the game or getting the appeal of it. Considering that it is an indie game largely created by a single person, I found Eternights to be an impressive effort. The developer definitely understands how to make a game fun, I had a huge smile on my face when playing this game and I stand by the Golden Genie that I gave it.

There was this recent new horror game called "Still Wakes the Deep", that I've seen a good amount of youtubers play, and say it was amazing! The atmosphere, the scares, the voice acting, etc. everything was top-notch, despite the game being short and linear. BUT despite getting high praise from gamers and the like, critics (specifically, IGN) gave it a low score in their review video. I think it was 6/10 but tbh, the reviewer sounded like he really didn't give a damn and he was just tired and wanted to get it over with. This is why I bloody hate IGN. And what sucks more is that IGN's review scores are always shown in the front page of reviews. It's unfair...

Kawaii Deathu Desu is a great game. The Eternal Castle [REMASTERED] looks awesome! Phoenotopia: Awakening is a solid game, highly recommended. Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is an awesome game, I didn't really watch the show back in the day, though. Thanks for another great video showcasing highly underrated indie games! Voice to the voiceless! 🤙🏻

Phoenotopia Awakening is such a lovely game, I had a blast looking for all the collectables, exploring and solving the puzzles. I can't fathom why it has such a low meta score.

I don't think anything 7 or over can be considered underrated unless you're going for the fame of ign's score (or social media interpretation of it).
Now, as for Banner of the Maid, I think that game is overrated. I had to drag myself through part of it and finally put it down. I'd score it "wait for a deep deep sale"
I hope I can get a better experience out of Eternights

I've seen many folks pass on games that have the 7 score over the years, as silly as that sounds.

The one that will always come to mind to me is Rain World.
Absolutely one of a kind game that gives you an experience you will never forget.
    Critics - 59 on Metacritic.
It's the game which, more than any other, shows the problem with critics only having a short amount of time to commit to each game

Samurai Jack Battle Through Time can go one of two ways. WB finally gives the game to the developer, and it goes on sale. Or WB delists the game, and it's gone forever without ever going on sale.

Reviewed it harshly when it came out but over time grew to like or appreciate it more?
    Curious to hear.
