This was such a good movie, and more people should see it. I can never truly understand what it is like to grow up as a member of an indigenous group who are treated as curiosities and tourist attractions by the ethnic majority, but I feel like I came as close to understanding as possible thanks to this beautiful film. Without spoiling anything, I think it is really significant that this was portrayed as a story internal to the community, something that was not the business of curious outsiders to know or understand. And that makes this movie, voluntarily given to people outside the Ainu community, a kind of gift.
@@KawaiiKT I'm 6 months late to this response, but I got the DVD from Amazon myself. I'm not sure if it's listed on Amazon outside of Japan, but that would be the first place I check! I don't use any streaming services other than RUclips, so I'm afraid I don't know other good ways to find it You might be able to order from Amazon Japan and have it shipped overseas as a last resort.
Loved it!! I recently got interested in Ainu culture and it’s just so beautiful. Knowing their culture and seeing this movie to see what’s happening in this world was very interesting. I hope Japanese will learn more and stop hating or saying the Ainu are fake, it breaks my heart. They’re like the realest human beings, living and appreciating nature. They are beautiful ppl, beautiful isn’t even enough i can’t describe how much respect I have
