  • always check color prior to bagging car in the spray booth it's better to use the natural sun to match color. and a nice trick to use doing your blends.

    Great work and amazing content. I do these blends on a daily basis and you never stop learning. Its important to remain open minded and prepared to learn new tricks. Too many painters claim to know it all. I love the channel. I like how you include the kind of things that can and do go wrong.

      Thank you brother. My teacher in trade school always told me it's not painting a nice paint job that makes a good painter, but when things go wrong being able to fix it and still produce good work. I'm always willing to learn. And this is the type of channel I want. Something where everyone can come learn from each other share tips and tricks and all become better at our craft.       @@sideshowscot7815 man that was me years ago, I've said and done some crazy sh!t that I'm not proud of. With age comes patience. In 24 years I can't even count on two hands the amount of painters, preppers and bodyman that I've choked or punched. Not proud of it but it's growth. Feels great to have a clean record and be able to vote again 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤣🤣😜😜 and I'm not giving that up for anyone 🙏🏼

    I never used scuff stuff, so I looked it up and found it provides a 1000-1200 grit scratch plus cleans the panel. Very nice!

    Awww Trigga I done caught you slippin' lol you said in this one if its shiny paint won't stick. I just so happened to have just watched the video you made about keeping the factory orange peel on a truck and you had it lightly scuffed but the "peel dots" or lows rather were still shiny all over. I said aww nawl trigga man!...lol But hey you doing ya thang man, rock steady fam!

      Sanding a car down and not taking all of the factory peel out is common. The "shiny" low spots are still scuffed for adhesion. But it is good that you're paying attention to detail 💪🏼😎

    looks pretty good on my Apple Pro XDR Display. When I worked at a bodyshop in my teens (early 90s), the owner always say "if you can identify where the repair was done, it was not done right".

    Now adays our paint suppliers have to many rookies mixing our paint,and they don't seem to understand that it needs to be precise measurements .what good is it to buy ,nason xl,or cromabase if the mixer don't give a poop.

    Anymore I just clear the whole aperture, a-pillar as it was called. I can do a clear blend but we use cheap *wherwin silliams* materials.
    You should try the Ingersoll Rand mini buffer it's got a nice trigger you can go really slow especially if you put a brass cheater valve on it.

      Thanks man!! Hey bro watch them eyes. I paint heavy equipment and we shoot alot of single stage, but over the years my eyes have been getting worse and worse. I went to the eye specialist and they say that anything with a hardener will stick to you eyes and build up a coating of paint on them. The only way to get it off is to scrape it off. To make a long story short, learn from my mistakes and keep those eye’s covered up. Thanks for all your hard work.

    over time, blend areas fail first, right?
    cuz the clear coat is so thin there? Why not just clear the whole piece all the way down the A-pillar?

      @@kkp4297 if you don't right your melting clear into preexisting clear not layering it on top. It's a skill that some never master. Insurance companies don't always pay to clear all the way down. The estimate says "partial blend" so that's what you're paid to do regardless of feelings.

    Why dont they R&I anything at that shop? They really make you paint all those bumpers on the car with all the tail lights ,headlights and all the door handles and belt moldings/trim on the doors??

      Yea man it sucks, 😞 masking all this sh!t it took time to realize that's just how it's going to be. we use to argue back n forth. And coming from working on the dealerships it was night and day. But other than that it's the best job ever. Haven't had a bad day of work in 10 years. So it's an even trade-off. All of my boys in the business laugh when they come by. But hey life is funny like that sometimes. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I just do my part and give 100% on the paint.

      I dont think a lot of people realise the amount of time and skill it takes to mask all that stuff off nice and clean and not have the clear bridge or anything like that.loving what you do and the shop your working at is price less.,and hopefully its a lot less stressful for you there than the dealership shop environment lol.keep laying em out bro!!love the channel!.I'm definitely going to try that blend technique too.first time I've seen that in 25 years!!I've always seen and done it with a light scuff with a grey scotch brite.depending on the paint line or blender usually have to buff /polish or wet sand a bit and buff/polish.havent even seen scuff stuff in a out 20 years since the full wetsanding days 🤣

    Never realized the DV1 is that slow. I actually like slow so I dont get a lot of runs. 😂 I have a LPH400 LV4 1.4, are they about the same speed?

      No way Jose LPH400 lv4 is my favorite gun. And I hate the DV1 so that should tell you right there. DV1 is 10x slower. I get some good speed with my LPH

      That is true. But the owner things he saves money buy just blending. If it were my shop I'd clear the entire panel. That is the best way to do it.

    Brother, you're Clear Coat blend technique is way better than mine. I'll give that a crack on Monday, I have a bumper that I want to stop half way on.
