I have learnt a lesson and that being never ever buy a car without physically looking at it. Bought a car from a Vauxhall dealership in Liverpool six months old, 2000 miles on clock and had it delivered to me by a third party. Major gearbox issues and more. Don't do it people.
These companies are known as disruptor to the traditional ways of car sales. For me, I would not buy a car online before seeing it for myself. The used car sector has suffered because of the disruptor sales campaign's and the vehicles can be of poor quality but at the top of their price range regardless of condition. Used car needs to be carefully checked by the customer prior to purchasing, this can only be done at a proper car sales outlet. Accept wear and tear but the panel gaps and substantial dents should be rectified before showing off the car either to the new owner, or during photo shoots for the advert. Why pay top dollar for a car you have not seen, driven or even sat in ? Not the way for me I must say, but so many seem happy to chance their arm and take these gambles.
Since filming this I’ve looked more into this concept and it’s unsustainable long term. Too many returns will bankrupt them. The cars are ex hire cars and fleet cars not cared for. Grade C-E cars. Grade A-B go to main dealers and reputable used car companies
Super helpful video. Realistically not every car is going to be a ringer, but you have helped us to see the pitfalls. Its human nature to want a bargain or indeed something decent for as little as possible. Family run small firms are my preferred option these days.
I bought a car from Cazoo 12 months ago. A sensor fault light came on after two weeks. The customer service was excellent and they arranged for a Bosch Auto centre to fix it. No problems since and they were good to deal with. You have plenty of opportunities to take the car back after a week driving it.
Buying a 7 year old car and expecting perfection is unrealistic, sounds like you need a brand new motor to be happy i brought a car from Cazoo and it was as described on their website. Nice video tho but slating a company because of a ding in the door and a bonnet not being aligned perfect is ridiculous, someone could sit on a bonnet and bend the brackets, and lets face it your buying a Peugeot the build quality is not great to begin with..
You obviously didn’t even watch the video then. The first Peugeot broke down 6 times in the first month with major engine problems and the 2nd Peugeot 2 years old has been in a major front end accident which is being hidden. 7 year??? No idea what video you are watching. I ended up buying a 2020 208 which he loves and is perfect.
True, all I will say is that if the bonnet has an alignment issue that isn’t there from new and there is a ding on the door, it should definitely be detailed in on the website
Had our Astra Sport Turbo from Cazoo for two years now. Couldn't fault the service and backup fro Cazoo and the finance. Car was beautifully prepared and presented. Two years to run on the deal and I will be looking forward to my next one.
The door crease is understandably disappointing, but the bonnet alignment could be something as simple as the bonnet having been removed for repairs. You'll be very lucky to find immaculate 3 year old cars. Many will be ex lease cars that have entered the market and been looked after to varying degrees. If you're looking for something better I'd suggest a main dealer.
Usually if you buy a second hand car from a dealer, by law as far as I'm aware, you get a six month warranty. It appears that Cinch only give you ninety days...
They give you 14 days to hand it back for a full refund or use their Warrenty for 90 days and you have to deal with companies who have no idea how to fix the issues which drag on forever. My son didn’t have his first car for 5 weeks because they didn’t know what they were doing.
I bought from Cazoo and it’s been ok, so far… but you do need to remember that despite the marketing, nice customer service and goodie bag, they are used car dealers at the end of the day and you’ll be treated accordingly
Car buying can be a mare indeed. I'm a Mazda man myself with many brand new purchases of the years. They have all been faultless over the last 20 years. Decided to have a change from a Mazda CX5 to a Nissan XTRAIL mainly because of the equipment level on the Nissan. Owned the car for 18 months with 18 visits to the garage. Engine management, suspension noise, clutch noise, faulty seat, steering winding noise. Part x for another Mazda CX5 with no issues over the last two years.
Both made in Japan for the UK market. Is that just bad luck or are Nissan that unreliable? I wouldn’t ever think about buying a Nissan. German cars just are on a different level.
The gaps on the bonnet doesn't mean it's been in an accident The panel may have been removed for painting hence the swirl marks I've been in the car trade for nearly 40yrs don't be put off by something so minor a realignment and polish job sorted as for the dent a good PDR tech would take that out in 5 minutes
What I didn’t mention was we found out the car had issues with the battery and had it replaced after just 1 year. When we arrived the car wouldn’t light up the dash without us starting the engine first which made me think its a deeper issue. Also it had no jack or tools in the boot and two of the tyres had been replaced with budget tyres too after just a year of driving. There were too many things pointing to not buying it. Anyway went to a main dealer in the end as you may have seen through my other video and bought a beautiful low mileage black one.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS heard good and bad stories about even actual dealerships i guess it’s luck of the draw sometimes I bought a Vauxhall Antara 3 years ago that i had for a day threatening them with court if they didn’t give me my money back
I’ve just purchased a M140i from one of these companies and I’ve discovered that the vehicle has had rear damage. Which wasn’t disclosed to myself by the way. Checked under the rear bumper becaue I though the panels didn’t really match up properly…
And then I’ve discovered it’s had a replacement bumper to the rear which was marked by the company and dated too. Further investigations led me to find broken bumper retention clips and evidence of a respray!
That’s not good. What I’ve heard is they grade cars A to E. main dealers get the A-B and these companies get the C-E the ones that have either been hire cars or crash repaired ones. That’s why they are cheaper.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS certainly makes sense that they are abit cheaper than the going rate mind. The car has a few small scuffs but nothing major, or so I was led to believe 😂 No mention of a repair by them or if it’s been in an accident. Not particularly fussed as I’d like to keep the car BUT if I’d like to sell it on and the buyer discovered it’s damaged it would effect resale value. I’m still within the 7 days and plan on challenging them on the damages/repairs. I’ll let you know how it goes 👍 I will say the process was great and the customer service was great; but the misleading condition is worrying. Thanks for replying
@@ryannesbitt8568 Yes I was impressed with their customer service but from what I hear, they are collecting cars all day everyday from people who are returning them. So many break down so fingers crossed it’s ok for you. Let me know how you get on 🤞🏼
I had a frustrating experience with another well known car company. I had an issue with the car shortly after purchase. Trying to contact them by phone or email was a nightmare so I had to drive back there to see them. The main issue was that they do not do their own repairs so they said go and get it repaired and we will reimburse you. So I had to deal with it myself. I subsequently booked it into the authorised dealers fo repair and it was repaired after 2 months and I paid. I then claimed the cost from the car company who haggled and said they could have got it repaired cheaper. After a lot of inconvienience and wasted time argueing with them and after 3 months I was sick of the issue (when I could get hold of them) I settled for a lesser amount. I'll never use these companies again, you may pay a bit more but I will in future buy from the main authorised dealer which will have their proper repair facility and warranty on a used car, and I won't have to run around sorting it out myself.
Just had the exact same issue with me. Thankfully the car I ordered on Cinch broke down TWICE before it could even be delivered so I swiftly cancelled it when they offered me a hire car quoting 'we don't know how long repairs will take'. Car was less than 2 years old and already had 2 AA callouts and a garage visit in less than 6 hours! The customer service is great and it was easy to cancel - but yes, something severely wrong with the inspection process. Buying my first car should be an exciting experience but it's been totally tarnished.
We are one of thousands. Sorry to hear you experienced the same problems. I have since heard there is a tier system as to what cars they buy. Tier 1-2 go to the official garages, 3-5 get sent to these companies. Cars that are crash repairs or have had issues. You’ll have to be lucky to get a good one
The issue is that it these online car supermarkets are pretty deceiving, because there’s alot you can hide from images in terms of taking the pictures at particular angles, also from what i understand you have to pay for the car before seeing it, so if for any reason your not happy with the car your left in a sticky situation as it’s already paid for, then if you reject it you have to wait a while for a refund.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS and then that 2 day wait might mean for some people that you can’t purchase an alternative car that is of interest that a different dealer until you’ve received the refund. Pretty frustrating.
I bought a bmw 120i from cazoo, looked at the stated imperfection, was happy with them, went to pick up the car and there were many more imperfections that wasn’t stated at all, an obvious dent on the rear quarter and a very badly done paint touch in on the boot that had a paint run and wasn’t right colour, returning it was simple and easy thankfully though. Also the steering was way out of line
Was supposed to be picking up a car from them this afternoon, but no sooner than 5 hours before my collection slot, they phoned to inform me that their branch hadn't even received the car yet... which I purchased in full a whole week ago! "Logistical issues", apparently. They've now rescheduled pick-up for two days time, but definitely not the best start. Can only hope the car will be as described/pictured - assuming I even get it 😅
Check it over as it’s probably had a few repairs. Make sure you have a spare tyre, all the tools are there as most of the time someone has taken them. It’s a big risk but if you do take it you have 2 weeks to return it
Ah man thats such a shame, never ever again. I now know the system they work towards and only buy the grade 3, 4 and 5 cars. Grade 1-2 go only to main dealers. Steer clear!
Just bought an electric car from Cinch at £13,900. It wouldn’t charge - the charger port was visibly broken, unfixable until April (only VW dealers can fix it) and obviously not checked. Delivered on 12 Dec. Picked up on 29 Dec. Still waiting for a refund on 9 Jan. have been without a usable car for a month now. Market value turned out to be £10,900 (if it had worked), so overpriced too.
I’ve had hundreds of similar messages from upset customers. I got my money back within 2 days so your experience is definitely not good! Hope you get sorted
You could have easily opened the bonnet and had a look, it's hard to match an old part to a recent exchange part. My brother in law worked as a preper and repairer for cazoo and he didn't have good things to say about them, he left after a few years
I've binned buying cars from anywhere such as Cinch, Cazoo, Car Supermarket, Mortorpoint etc - any of the 'supermarkets' really - I just feel they get bad stock. My last purchase from Motorpoint was a 2018 Grandsport Insignia (10 months old at the time) - online chat I requested confirmation that the car had not had any repairs to bodywork or paint done - it was quoted then as being 'as new with no works done'. Sadly it was snowing when I viewed it, and after cleaning it - turns out the car had been fully resprayed at the front - all wheels sprayed, and the full nearside repaired and resprayed!. Luckily - the online conversation saved me and I returned it within 30 days for a full refund. Went to a VX Dealer after that where I genuinely feel they get much better stock. I'd never trust a car from a supermarket.
Its so sad that this is a common occurrence throughout the industry. Since making this video i found out all used cars in grade A or B go to main dealers, C,D, E go to these guys. That includes, ex rentals, people flogging there cars with hidden issues and them reselling them and auction cars with damage they repair and sell on.
Major accident 😂 Could have just had a bonnet sprayed and not fitted back on the hinges exactly the same as it was good lord almighty who needs customers like this.
Well clearly not. The bumper had been sprayed and the bonnet had swirls. Most likely had a bumper impact and they either didn't spot the poor shutlines or they removed the bonnet to fit the bumper and didn't refit it correctly. No question that car has had a front end impact though.
Tbh i carnt believe people would buy a car online without seeing it, you were totally correct to reject the Peugeot. That said my wife has a second run around 206, shes had it since 07, its been phenomenal, granted we did buy it from the main dealer, but its still going strong with 120k on the clock Quess the moral of the story is try before you buy.
To me that bumper white looks a different white to the one on the bonnet. It’s really hard to colour match after a collision because there are so many different shaped of white.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS or it's just had a scratch in a car park and it's been repainted to retail standard, the 208 is just a shopping/runaround/fleet car so it isn't going to be perfect at 3 years old especially not a run of the mill model in the range. The door dent could be sorted by PDR fairly easily, but still a pain if you weren't expecting it.
@@tridaks At the time of filming it was a year old and had 18,000 miles on the clock. Also quite high for its age. I never mentioned the battery issue, or the volume button falling off in my hand, or the missing jack and tools in the boot, or the undertray full of mud like its been in a ditch. Lucky to get away with it.
Thanks for the video. It was very helpful. I'd like to add a different perspective to the whole experience though. For people that are not mechanically savy, buying a car online and having a "14 days cooling off period" where you can return the car and get a full refund, it can be incredibly reassuring! Buy it, take straight to a mechanic you trust to get it properly checked then decide if you want to keep it or not. That's a good thing right? Or am I missing something?? Thanks
i rejected a car from cinch today, when it was being delivered, as the delivery driver gave me the keys he said "you might notice a bit of a misfire, i noticed it driving it down here, but its probably alright, if theres any problems you have 14 days to change your mind" - what a way to fill the customer with confidence and 14 days to change your mind - at which point my px would be long gone leaving me having to keep it! I mean he was a nice guy and really reasonable but in what world would you expect to deliver a car to a customer you claim to have checked, serviced and reconditioned and proceed to tell them that there is a misfire? Was the check even done? it was pretty obvious with the engine running, yes it could have just been a sparkplug, but it also could have been a timing chain jumping a tooth Then i noticed parts of the car had been repainted that was not even the right colour. Oh and the so called full service history was missing.....
Bloody hell, this is one of so many messages people have sent me. You have got away with it thankfully, so many haven’t. They only sell grade 3-5 cars as the grade 1-2 go to the main dealers. The main dealers wouldn’t touch these as they’ve been thrown through auction. Stick to paying more from a main dealer.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS yep crazy - felt sorry for the delivery driver really, as you could tell he was embarrassed but had to tow the line, but how many people feel obligated to accept delivery and just deal with any problems later, or are so star struck by their new car they don't notice? It wasn't a huge amount I was spending, approx £7.5k on a bit of a run about but even so, you dont expect to have to be making warranty claims as soon as the delivery driver has left. You can tell its cars traded in at dealers, that they dont want to deal with, polished up, glossy photos (no "quality checks") lots of marketing and see if they can attract people who dont know better
While had some issues budget tyres are what a lot of people put on cars especially a Peugeot. It’s not a TT :-) You get what you pay for from these places all have issues as they come through WBAC
At least the customer service is good when things go wrong, Buying a used car is a nightmare, doesn't seem to matter where you go, I've had issues with cars at franchised dealers, and being sold within part a manufacturers approved used scheme, both at the same dealership, first one had unrepaired crash damage that was rusting, admittedly mostly hidden by body trim but I spotted it reasonably quickly, so we looked at a second one, still listed as an approved used car, this one had paint overspray on one rear mudflap and the rear arch in the door opening, so much for supposed inspections, we just waked away and declined their offer to remove the overspray, both cars were still on sale weeks later, still in the same condition. still listed on a search of the manufacturers approved used scheme.
It’s a scary process buying a 2nd hand car. If they could all be honest and up front on what has been repaired then you’d has some faith in what you are buying, but they hide everything hoping you’re not going to notice which makes it so shady!
Firstly, did Cazoo acknowledge the damage to the door panel, and if so, did they offer a repair or compensation on the cost. More importantly, the panel gaps on the bonnet panel would be caused simply by wear or maladjustment of the bump stops and wouldn’t suggest an accident. I have bought several brand new cars in my lifetime and it isn’t unusual to find that this type of fault has been missed in the PDI. and is easily and quickly fixed. The swirls you noticed on the leading edge of the bonnet panel were almost certainly due to an attempt to remove stone chips or other incidental minor damage. If you think about it, no crash repair garage in the country would repair the front end of a crashed car without re spraying the bonnet panel, and any significant damage would have meant a replacement bonnet anyway, which would obviously have been re sprayed. I think that your previous car buying experience is somewhat colouring your expectations. It really isn’t fair to suggest people don’t use a garage just for the reasons you highlighted. I’m not or ever have been involved with Cazoo, Cinch or any other motoring outlet, but I felt that these were unfair comments. Before I get flamed on RUclips for my opinion though, let me say that, in my youth and middle age, I’ve bought cars of all sorts of conditions, and not just new ones.
Thanks for you comment. I think at 18 months old (time the video went out) you would expect a car to be in a better condition and no they just shrugged their shoulders at the dent in the door. When you go online and transfer the money they share any imperfections which was was happy with but didnt share this one which was the larger one of all. But there were other things that was wrong with it, the volume button fell off in my hand, the undertray was broken and loads of mud in it like it had bottomed out into a muddy area, no jack or tools in the boot, a battery issue was noted and when i got in the car, first thing that happened was it wouldn’t light up the dash which must be down the battery issue it had previously had. I wish I had gone around with the camera properly now.
Cazoo currently have a BMW 335 in stock that I would potentially consider if I could view it first. Expected to just pop along to Lakeside this weekend. I'm not buying the damn thing unless I've checked it first! I see higher than average number of owners on a lot of their cars. I wonder if this is from 1 or 2 customers using their 14 day return option...
Cazoo cars are the cars flogged at auction. They are grade 3,4 and 5. Grade 1-2 go to dealers as they wont touch the cars that go to Cazoo. They are all ex hire cars, company cars or engine management light cars. Do yourself a favour and steer clear just in case.
Looks like their day has come! I hate buying cars with a vengeance but that particular business model hasn’t worked. Hope your son got a good car in the end. 😃👍
At the end of the day you are buying a second hand car its always a gamble with any second hand car no matter where you buy don’t judge the company on the cars judge them on how they deal with the issues. They can’t take every vehicle for a 3 hour test drive to make sure everything is perfect with it
Yes I agree but you are missing a vital point here, they are buying up all the cars people want to offload because they have an issue. WBAC is notorious for buying cars which may have issues and they flog them on. The other issue is they also not honest about some of the issues and try to hide the fact they have been in accidents. The cars I saw had so many things missing like tools and jacks in the boot, broken engine trays or even missing, dents not highlighted etc. Its the way they try and sell you a dud!
First time ever purchased car from Internet used car supermarket 4 year old Merc GLA very low mileage .painless transaction took my px vw had car now nearly 2 years and it was exactly as described and been faultless, would use again .
We’re sorry to see you had issues with your car, but also grateful for the shoutout to the cinch customer service team - they were more than happy to provide your refund and cover the costs you mention. Issues like yours are extremely rare, but like any company in the business of selling cars, sometimes an unpredictable issue can arise. To make sure customers aren’t left out in the cold, we happily provide a free 90-day warranty and 14-day money back guarantee. But as your experience shows, we sometimes go beyond that too. Loving the TT RS, by the way. We’re yet to time one around our track, Rockingham 😜
Its a shame your cars are mostly poor auctioned cars, ex rentals or bought from private sellers with hidden issues. No idea how long the business will last taking these risks. I was looked after though by your staff and they agreed its horrendous at how many cars are returned. As for timing an TTRS around Rockingham, i’d be up for offering my car up for that!
I know a few people who have after finding an expensive fault to repair driving straight to we buy any car selling to them who are same company a cinch
@cinch you’re an appalling company to deal with. Caused us weeks of stress and we’re out of pocket, and car-less at Christmas. Your customer services team are pretend nice on the phone but useless tbh.
Omg really , it’s a Peugeot and a small door don’t and a slight difference in panel gaps is common , car vertical only register if cars have a catagory right off not a repair . 1st car just went to the wrong garages and was not diagnosed properly .
There was so much more I didn’t even mention, battery issue, no jack or tools in the boot, radio button came off in my hand, under tray caked in mud like it had bottomed out. Too much on top of the body work issues so that is a no go!
I have bought several cars from motorpoint and had no problems at all, these tend to be ex lease cars or ex rentals, but excellent prices and customer service, but second hand prices for cars from everywhere are beyond belief, way overpriced
Ex rentals are mega bargains. They are very well looked after as in cleaned and serviced regularly. The customers of ex rental cars are terrified of causing any damage as the rental companies absolutely hammer them for it.
How do you get a car without these companies? Because someone like me with very little money relies on companies like this. Otherwise it would take me around 3 or 4 years to buy a car outright for about 10k.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS well thankfully my friend was a mechanic for 30 plus years and they said they will help me to buy first car so I should be in safe hands. But watching this video makes me think.
You do realise that they are the same as any other car dealer wanting to sell you a car on a finance package? no matter how glossy they make it look, you still down own the car outright for 3-4 years if at all
@@ITSARAPPTTRS I know, I'm responding to the guy asking how to buy a car without these companies and stating he can arrange finance from most reputable dealers. I enjoyed the video tho as was about to buy unseen from cazoo and am glad I backed out
Whilst the upload of this could be perceived by some as informative and offering insight, I myself found the author a little bit annoying in that making presumptions with little knowledge can be damaging to the brand (Cazoo). As an accident repair centre GM with some 30+ years in the industry having progressed from a technician on the shop floor I can safely say that variables in panel gaps & evidence of machine polishing across a bonnet does in no way indicate that the vehicle has been involved in a “big accident” as reckoned by the author.
Thanks for your comment. I respect what your saw may have been a little annoying but there are a few factors to my comments which I forgot to mention. If you are going to machine polish a car you’d think both panels would have been done instead of one leaving swirl marks and the other none. Also the volume button came off in my hand, the spare tyre was missing from the boot and the tool kit, Jack and accessories all gone from the boot. There was thick dried mud under the bonnet at the bottom of the engine bay which looked like it had bottomed out and the floor pan looked battered. The car was definitely a crash damaged one for sure. The car was dead when I tried to use the radio and when I asked they did say it had had a battery issue and have replaced the battery. I’m sure their is a deeper problem to that. I’m just one of thousands who’ve had this experience with Cazoo, I doubt my video would be the start of their downfall.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS … maybe had that been included in your upload then you may have come across less like someone who was speculating without knowledge.. not trolling or having a go, but I get people in my industry who think they know what they are talking about and don’t actually have a clue. In this particular video, through your own admitted errors, that’s exactly how you come across, the net result of that being that rather than being appreciated, you’ll have people like me that do have a full understanding of car body just rolling their eyes at another wannabe expert.. hopefully you found what you were looking for in the end 🙏
Yes I know and it bugs me that I forgot so much when making the video. I rushed it out whilst I still had it in my head. Anyway I know 100% i made the right decision on that car. We got a great car which i document here. ruclips.net/video/Afh3F8c0P7c/видео.html
Such a shame you pay top money with these companies & should expect top quality. Most small car dealers would fix that dent on the door especially as the car is still so new. I found your video just searching for Cazoo as I know they’re in deep financial trouble & things like this surely didn’t help them. That’s only a minor smart repair from looking brand new I really don’t get why they have such amazing showrooms & display or sell damaged cars from them especially when they’re nearly new cars.
Totally agree it's not great buying a guy that repeatedly breaks down, but I guess it's all companies that have a large amount of cars to sell there's possible problems. I bought a 3 year old Mégane from Arnold Clark and had nothing but problems with it, also went to Ford's Of Winsford and had a similar experience to the cazoo vehicle you saw, with 2 different paints on the rear bumper, scratches and dents everywhere etc of the C class I was looking at, It totally puts you off using them again.
I can't see how you can say not to buy a car from Cazoo or Cinch - as long as you didn't lose any money what is the problem? . Any second hand car will not be perfect and may have had a bump or has something wrong with it. Why do you think the previous owner got rid of it?
I did lose money, insurance was already paid so lost some money plus admin fees etc. also lost time and only expect imperfections they highlight. They do not highlight all the issues but thankfully I saw a few for myself before taking it.
@@Ben27377-g mine had electrical issues, faulty battery, electric handbrake issue, warning light on dashboard. Buying car from cinch is nightmare, once they have your money, they don't care, and you stuck with a worthless car.
Can I ask a question? Because my mum told me about Cinch on TV thinking they looked good. I looked up the license plate on the first car you bought, the one from Cinch, and it's weird because when I looked up the MOT History of the car it's not got any major write offs and it's never failed an MOT. It did mention a small oil leak as an advisory a couple of MOT's back but that was it. So what I'm trying to understand is why a car that's passed all those MOT checks, would suddenly just for lack of a better term here, crap out on you? I need to buy another car myself, so your video is making me question whether I should try Cinch, but I don't know. Is it just bad luck or something?
I am one of thousands of people whom have had a terrible experience. Basically these cars are grade 3-5, which means they come from either a car hire company, trade car or badly kept private car where the owners don’t give them the love and attention they deserve. They go to auction and someone basically polished them up and flogs them. The main dealers only take grade 1-2 cars which are owned by private individuals and they are serviced and cared for. Do not think it’s a good deal and spend that extra with piece of mind through a main dealer or reputable organisation
With all due respect, you are looking at second hand cars, not new ones. They're not going to be perfect. Of all the second hand cars I bought years ago, the only one I can think was below par was a Rover SD1 3500 which had a leaking inlet manifold gasket. As a novice "mechanic" it took two hours to replace, but I wasn't looking for perfection at the price I paid.
I think at 18 months old (time the video went out) you would expect a car to be in a better condition. Some of the other things that was wrong with it, the volume button fell off in my hand, the undertray was broken and loads of mud in it, no jack or tools in the boot, a battery issue was noted and when i got in the car, first thing that happened was it wouldn’t light up the dash which must be down the battery issue it had previously had.
Very much a different story these days, Cinch will ignore emails, send you the same correspondance over and over again, refuse to fix faults, send you to garages without any way of getting them to pay for it. Stay away is my advice.
I have had no issues with my car from Cazoo has been nothing but great as well as customer service being brilliant. Ashame you did not have a good experience yourself when getting a car from one of these sorts of places. My car actually looked better than it did on the pictures and was in amazing condition. Did you manage to get sorted yet?
Wouldn't worry too much about panel gaps to be fair, as long as there's no accident damage registered. Also you must remember it's a USED car your buying, not a new 1 so there will be imperfections. Must be realistic. Great film tho highlighting your thoughts on these companies potential issues 👍
It had definitely had an accident and as it was not registered that’s what’s worried me. Also it was a year old and you’d expect it in better condition. What I didn’t document was it had a battery replacement because of an issue and when i first got in the car the dash didn’t light up without me starting it with the key. No charge into the car, not even a radio so i suspected more issues. They then said it had had battery problems from some notes they found. Also no tools or jack in the boot too which is not a good sign. Now with more research I’m so glad I don’t use these companies.
@@madlau3316 yes but they have a 14 day money back guarantee but it’s not that easy as you’ve paid insurance for the car and start a whole pain in the arse situation. You also can’t do anything until you get your money back that takes days
British Car Auctions own we buy any car and Cinch. You sell the auction company your car, the decent cars (cough) go off to retail the trash goes through auctions or breakers yards.
Thanks for this, I saw cinch and Cazoo and it all seemed a bit too good to be true. My partner and I are looking for a reliable car because we’re going to be driving across the country (I.e up to Scotland and down to London). It’s just a shame that they’re profiting of people that just want to get a car or can’t afford to buy it outright.
So they both collect ex rental cars or cars not good enough for main dealers to sell and sell them slightly less than the main dealers. Not reliable at all
@ITSARAPPTTRS I was recommended them by a friend, and I've gone on to recommend to others. Maybe they are lucky too? You're whole argument for them being bad and you rejecting the vehicle is a dent and that the bonnet may have been changed... You're just an awkward customer and are the kind that will complain when there is a penny missing from your change... Bonnet changes are common because they are high impact areas. Sometimes it's easier and cheaper to replace than repair. You just have no idea what you are talking about.
@@Gal2k6 To be fair you have not seen the whole story as i didnt record it. When we arrived yes there was a dent (which was not listed on their imperfections list), the bonnet had been resprayed badly, swirl marks all over the paint work, the undertrays where damaged and caked in mud like it had bottomed out, the volume button came off in my hand, the car never started at first and then they told me it had a battery issue which they think is rectified when it may have not been, there were no tools, jack or spare tyre in the boot and finally two tyres where nearly bald. Anyone fine with that deserves that car as they are just stupid.
I'm very keen on a car I've seen on Cinch. However, the reviews on Cinch are all either excellent or horrific. Not brave enough to part with my money before seeing the car.
I bought a car from cinch and they have been amazing, the car is great ( 3 years old ) had tracking and balancing sorting and the sales process and after for me was fantastic.
Every cars had paint somewhere , what do you expect . Get a new one and comes will bad paint and swirls . Stop looking for perfection , that comes once you bought it and detail it etc yourself .
If you want a reliable car the only way is Japanese. European cars are built with substandard components .You get a 10 year manufacturer warrant with some as long as its dealer serviced once a year ..
@@ITSARAPPTTRS Jap cars dominate Africa , Asia and the best selling car in the USA for the last 20 years is a Camry! I :this is because they dont break down much : In my view they are not very costly look at the whole Suzuki range or the Aygo , Jazz as an example.
Well after watching your video you have just lost cazoo £26K lol 😆 as i was just about to buy a 68 reg audi TTS from them but you’ve given me cold feet, would you recommend spending an extra 2 grand on pretty much the same car but as an approved used car from an Audi main dealer?
Please please please do not buy a TTS from them especially as its a 69 plate. Any dealer would have snapped up a 69 plate but they dont touch grade 3-5 cars. They grade them 1 or 2 which go to main dealers, 3-4 supermarket car sales, grade 5 to the man up the road with no warrenty. This car has obviously had some serious issues, crash repaired or very high milage that a main dealer wouldnt want to touch.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS lol, cheers for the reply and don’t worry I’ve binned it, I’m in talks over a bmw M135i on a 70 reg, full dealer history and one owner for £30k, hopefully buying it on monday will keep it for a year then part ex it for a TTRS like yours when I’ve saved up a bit more dosh 💰
I have learnt a lesson and that being never ever buy a car without physically looking at it. Bought a car from a Vauxhall dealership in Liverpool six months old, 2000 miles on clock and had it delivered to me by a third party. Major gearbox issues and more. Don't do it people.
Yes i agree. It’s definitely not the way to buy a car. I’ve learnt my lesson

I thought thats normal no?
Don't know about the cars being crap but your relationship with your son is adorable.
I wish I was so open with my dad.
Ah thanks pal, appreciate the message. Yeah he is a good kid!
I must be one of the few then, bought a 3yr old Golf GTD from Cinch 3yrs ago, paid a reasonable price and its been fantastic, no complaints at all.
Of course not all are dodgy but most have hidden issues so you’re lucky!
Super helpful video. Realistically not every car is going to be a ringer, but you have helped us to see the pitfalls. Its human nature to want a bargain or indeed something decent for as little as possible. Family run small firms are my preferred option these days.
You’re welcome. Glad you’re going down the small business route
I bought a car from Cazoo 12 months ago.
A sensor fault light came on after two weeks. The customer service was excellent and they arranged for a Bosch Auto centre to fix it. No problems since and they were good to deal with. You have plenty of opportunities to take the car back after a week driving it.
Glad you got it sorted with not much of a problem.
There is black rubber nobs to adjust the doors and bonnet gap that’s all if you turn anti clock wise it will adjust all gaps , if it’s not accidental
There was so many other things wrong with it that we didnt want it anyway
Thanks for the video. I had my suspicions with these two companies in particular.
Glad I could help. Since filming this so many people have sent me messages with terrible experiences
Great video mate! Helps people understand something more about these big companies and cars.
Thanks mate, trying to make sure people don’t make the same mistake
Yes, the quality will not be perfect but it shouldn’t be breaking down. That is what you call a shed
I dint think they bought or part exchanged accident cars 🤔
How do you know
Had our Astra Sport Turbo from Cazoo for two years now. Couldn't fault the service and backup fro Cazoo and the finance. Car was beautifully prepared and presented. Two years to run on the deal and I will be looking forward to my next one.
You’re one of the lucky ones
The door crease is understandably disappointing, but the bonnet alignment could be something as simple as the bonnet having been removed for repairs. You'll be very lucky to find immaculate 3 year old cars. Many will be ex lease cars that have entered the market and been looked after to varying degrees. If you're looking for something better I'd suggest a main dealer.
It was only a year or so old when I filmed this. We ended up at the main dealers, watch one of the later videos to see the pick up!
@@ITSARAPPTTRSyep, absolutely appalling. Cazoo are the same. Bloody dreadful
I bought from Cazoo and it’s been ok, so far… but you do need to remember that despite the marketing, nice customer service and goodie bag, they are used car dealers at the end of the day and you’ll be treated accordingly
I’m sure there are a fare few that turn out fine but there are so many horror stories!
Gotta say, Mazda are on their A game atm, lovely cars with some beautiful lines and great colours.
Just the hug at the beginning is worth the price of any car❤
He is a beautiful soul. Thanks for the message 🫶🏼
The gaps on the bonnet doesn't mean it's been in an accident
The panel may have been removed for painting hence the swirl marks
I've been in the car trade for nearly 40yrs don't be put off by something so minor a realignment and polish job sorted as for the dent a good PDR tech would take that out in 5 minutes
I’ve had a car from cinch for 3 years only real issue was the glow plug relay unit after about a year but that was sorted and cars been great
There are some lucky ones
@@ITSARAPPTTRS heard good and bad stories about even actual dealerships i guess it’s luck of the draw sometimes
I bought a Vauxhall Antara 3 years ago that i had for a day threatening them with court if they didn’t give me my money back
I’ve just purchased a M140i from one of these companies and I’ve discovered that the vehicle has had rear damage.
The car has a few small scuffs but nothing major, or so I was led to believe 😂
No mention of a repair by them or if it’s been in an accident.
Not particularly fussed as I’d like to keep the car BUT if I’d like to sell it on and the buyer discovered it’s damaged it would effect resale value. I’m still within the 7 days and plan on challenging them on the damages/repairs. I’ll let you know how it goes 👍
I will say the process was great and the customer service was great; but the misleading condition is worrying.
That sounds like a horrendous experience, i feel your pain! I agree, pay the extra and go to a main dealer if you can.
Yep we rejected it and had to wait 2 days for the money back
@@ITSARAPPTTRS and then that 2 day wait might mean for some people that you can’t purchase an alternative car that is of interest that a different dealer until you’ve received the refund. Pretty frustrating.
@@7amda exactly this. Couldn’t move on another car until we got our money back
I bought a bmw 120i from cazoo, looked at the stated imperfection, was happy with them, went to pick up the car and there were many more imperfections that wasn’t stated at all, an obvious dent on the rear quarter and a very badly done paint touch in on the boot that had a paint run and wasn’t right colour, returning it was simple and easy thankfully though. Also the steering was way out of line
Yes this sounds like a common issue with them. They don’t mention a lot of things that are imperfect with their cars. Good you returned it
@@ITSARAPPTTRS They do say on the site that they only note imperfections that are clearly visible from 2m away. Maybe it's something to do with that.
@@Ultima2876 I don’t think that is the case as they mention a tiny stone chip on the bumper but not the 1cm dent in the passenger door.
It’s a big risk but if you do take it you have 2 weeks to return it
Agree mr Rapp, My TT is now playing up continuously with a water pump fault. Bought from Cazoo. So annoying
Ah man thats such a shame, never ever again. I now know the system they work towards and only buy the grade 3, 4 and 5 cars. Grade 1-2 go only to main dealers. Steer clear!
@@ITSARAPPTTRS where did you find out this info?
Let’s be houset u can have issues with any company but not once have been refunded for costs outside off the car so hats off to cinch
True but they hid a lot of issues from me until I looked closer.
My brother in law worked as a preper and repairer for cazoo and he didn't have good things to say about them, he left after a few years
I didn’t manage to get that far as there were so many other things I never mentioned that popped up. Never again!
Not sure about the car , But the love with the father son bonding is awesome to see, God bless 🇺🇸
Thank you 🙏🏼
I've binned buying cars from anywhere such as Cinch, Cazoo, Car Supermarket, Mortorpoint etc - any of the 'supermarkets' really - I just feel they get bad stock.
I would add carstore to this list as well. Sold me a car without service history that said had it and stopped talking to me when I mentioned this.
It’s such a horrible experience isn’t it
Major accident 😂
Could have just had a bonnet sprayed and not fitted back on the hinges exactly the same as it was good lord almighty who needs customers like this.
Yeah slight exaggeration here but I didn’t mention the undertrays all crumpled and mud inside the engine bay like it’s been in a ditch
Yes lesson learnt, always go to a main dealer to limit the risk.
To me that bumper white looks a different white to the one on the bonnet. It’s really hard to colour match after a collision because there are so many different shaped of white.
Yeah it was, it has been resprayed for sure and hiding a larger problem i reckon.
@@ITSARAPPTTRS Fair enough, sound like you had a better result elsewhere anyway 🙂
Thanks
Yes but it’s the worry of handing over thousands of pounds hoping to get it back!
i rejected a car from cinch today, when it was being delivered, as the delivery driver gave me the keys he said "you might notice a bit of a misfire, i noticed it driving it down here, but its probably alright, if theres any problems you have 14 days to change your mind" - what a way to fill the customer with confidence and 14 days to change your mind - at which point my px would be long gone leaving me having to keep it!
I mean he was a nice guy and really reasonable but in what world would you expect to deliver a car to a customer you claim to have checked, serviced and reconditioned and proceed to tell them that there is a misfire? Was the check even done? it was pretty obvious with the engine running, yes it could have just been a sparkplug, but it also could have been a timing chain jumping a tooth
Then i noticed parts of the car had been repainted that was not even the right colour.
I would run a mile!!
While had some issues budget tyres are what a lot of people put on cars especially a Peugeot. It’s not a TT :-)
You get what you pay for from these places all have issues as they come through WBAC
WBAC cars flogged with problems
Hope you got on OK, many weekend cars have more than average owners as people have a bit of fun and get bored.
Never had a problem with my cazoo car 🚗

Yeah good residence to them, i filmed part 3 and 4, he was lucky after the 4th attempt, go have a watch

I'm not sure that a 12m warranty will last as long as the company right now (March24).
I think you’re right!
If your peugeot has a wet timing belt beware they have a bad reputation for the belts going too early damageing the engine

To be expected when your only PDI is a WBAC employee putting cars in reverse and 1st gear outside a portacabin in a car park.
Ex rental always scares me
Ex rentals are mega bargains.
You can also buy a car off a private seller which comes with no warranty so is by far cheaper
@@ITSARAPPTTRS well thankfully my friend was a mechanic for 30 plus years and they said they will help me to buy first car so I should be in safe hands. But watching this video makes me think.
You do realise that they are the same as any other car dealer wanting to sell you a car on a finance package? no matter how glossy they make it look, you still down own the car outright for 3-4 years if at all
@@Eddie1992uk I was a cash buyer so just wanted a car that was going to be reliable
@@ITSARAPPTTRS I know, I'm responding to the guy asking how to buy a car without these companies and stating he can arrange finance from most reputable dealers. I enjoyed the video tho as was about to buy unseen from cazoo and am glad I backed out
We found a better car at a dealer and it was cheaper than Cazoo and Cinch but then my brother in law bought a nice Fiat Spider from Cazoo
Im sure not all all the cars are faulty but it’s not worth the risk
Just go to the dealer I've got to look at my car before I buy even new
Yep we went to a reputable dealer in the end
Such a shame you pay top money with these companies & should expect top quality. Most small car dealers would fix that dent on the door especially as the car is still so new. I found your video just searching for Cazoo as I know they’re in deep financial trouble & things like this surely didn’t help them. That’s only a minor smart repair from looking brand new I really don’t get why they have such amazing showrooms & display or sell damaged cars from them especially when they’re nearly new cars.
That’s my point, but it’s not just the outside issues, all sorts of hidden problems too
Totally agree it's not great buying a guy that repeatedly breaks down, but I guess it's all companies that have a large amount of cars to sell there's possible problems.
Arnold Clark are notorious for that!
But most dealers wouldn’t refund expenses from car being of the road so there better than most even if that car wasn’t the best
Apparently that was a rare occurrence with the refund. Doubt they would do that now, especially when they are in financial difficulty
@@ITSARAPPTTRS That's why I prefer to buy from a main Dealer - usually they give or rather provide 5 days of free drive-away insurance.
Agree. Try getting your money back from a private seller, or from a main dealer.
Just got a car from cinch today and it broke down in an hour.
That is crap, sorry to hear. They are a shambles!
what was the outcome? mine broke down after 3 days.
@@studz89 got it repaired then asked for the money. Wouldn’t send it to them probs wouldn’t get it back for ages.
@@Ben27377-g mine had electrical issues, faulty battery, electric handbrake issue, warning light on dashboard.
Buying car from cinch is nightmare, once they have your money, they don't care, and you stuck with a worthless car.
as I write both outlets in the early 80s% for customer satisfaction 5 * approval on T-Pilot so a fair amount of customer unhappiness I'd say
And if you search their reviews by date youll see they are having a lot of issues most recently now they are struggling.
Thank you, that's very informative and with that information in mind I couldn't agree more.
Did you have any problems getting a refund when you rejected the car?
No, the money was back in my account within 2 days
Very much a different story these days, Cinch will ignore emails, send you the same correspondance over and over again, refuse to fix faults, send you to garages without any way of getting them to pay for it. Stay away is my advice.
Yep 👍🏼 stay away
Modern day Arthur Daley's. Good you done the usual checks 👍
Thats exactly what they are!
Well you’re the lucky one. There is a reason they will be going bust very soon.
Ended up buying through a main dealer
@@ITSARAPPTTRS Having the vehicle registration number on website, would it be possible to check the car history before placing an order?
@@madlau3316 yes but only if the issues have been logged. Many are undetected
@@ITSARAPPTTRS Do you need to pay in full before picking up your reserved car at Cazoo branch?
@@madlau3316 yes but they have a 14 day money back guarantee but it’s not that easy as you’ve paid insurance for the car and start a whole pain in the arse situation. You also can’t do anything until you get your money back that takes days
near side door color doesn't match.
There was so many things I didn’t even mention too so you’re probably right.
British Car Auctions own we buy any car and Cinch. You sell the auction company your car, the decent cars (cough) go off to retail the trash goes through auctions or breakers yards.
Yep thats what I have heard since. Never again
Not reliable at all
Great dad !!
🫶🏼
Almost every car on Cazoo has 1 key and no service history. Thats reason enough to avoid them.
You’re not wrong there
I've had two cars from cazoo, no issues at all.
You’re one of the lucky ones
Well said mate.... people need to understand a real world perspective
Thanks mate, now I understand why it’s a lot cheaper than the main dealers as their cars are knackered!
I thought there cars were fully reconditioned 😂
Fucking bodge-it-&-scarper springs to mind

We looked at both of them 18mths ago to buy a car. Alarm bells rang so we went to a main dealer as normal 😂😂
Thank the lord you did!
@ITSARAPPTTRS Yes, much better with a main dealer as they do tend to listen when you say I going to contact the manufacturer 🤣🤣
I'm very keen on a car I've seen on Cinch. However, the reviews on Cinch are all either excellent or horrific. Not brave enough to part with my money before seeing the car.
Please don’t do it. It’s a poor example off loaded for sale. Main dealers wouldn’t touch the stock at cinch
I bought a car from cinch and they have been amazing, the car is great ( 3 years old ) had tracking and balancing sorting and the sales process and after for me was fantastic.
I’m sure there are some success stories but not for me unfortunately
I brought mine from cazoo had no problems whatsoever
I’m sure a lot have been ok but I’ve had hundreds of messages were people have not had such a great experience
Every cars had paint somewhere , what do you expect . Get a new one and comes will bad paint and swirls . Stop looking for perfection , that comes once you bought it and detail it etc yourself .
Yep I agree, they hid a lot of the problems they supposed to highlight, don’t trust there would be more problems
If you want a reliable car the only way is Japanese. European cars are built with substandard components .You get a 10 year manufacturer warrant with some as long as its dealer serviced once a year ..
Jap scene is very popular in the UK but very expensive!!
@@ITSARAPPTTRS Jap cars dominate Africa , Asia and the best selling car in the USA for the last 20 years is a Camry! I :this is because they dont break down much : In my view they are not very costly look at the whole Suzuki range or the Aygo , Jazz as an example.
what do u expect on a 21 plate
Perfection
I bet cinch are glad you returned the car customers like you are a nightmare 😂😂😂
What, I’m a nightmare because I have eyes!!!
Why do you think people sell there cars to these sites
Get rid of cars quickly!
Also join the Audi TT Addict Facebook page and post the number plate which I believe is FY68 UVO and ask if anyone used to own it
What’s also worrying is that it’s done 16,346 miles in 24/09/2021 and now 16,899 in 26/05/2023. 550 miles in nearly 2 years!
