- 26 years ago this week (May 1989) I was in NYC filming this episode of Remote Control on MTV starring the late, great Ken Ober and of course, Colin Quinn. Episode originally first aired on July 3 or 4, 1989.

I so missed this.. wow I was a wee lad skating and bmxing , playing Nintendo and this was when mtv and Nick were the greatest channels ever.. ren and stumpy Clarissa beavis and butthead , remote control head bangers ball yo mtv raps .. those were the days.. this was our jeopardy..lol thank you soo much for the memories ❤

Thanks for the upload. A great show with an excellent host. Love the guests. You remind me of my brother in 89' and the girl looks like his girlfriend. I recently bought and uploaded our school's trips to the basketball finals in the 1980's. Can't let the memories die.

I had a friend who won a similar contest but the band backed out. She had the free trip to London though. I think they hyped these things into more than really was on offer, with specially designed exit clauses in the contracts. But who knows? Maybe this one was bomb. Would be cool to hear the story.

I was on w/ air date end of July (also filmed in May, so we might have crossed paths lol). Sometime in the 90's I lost my tape and to this day am still looking for my "lost episode" :(

This is when MTV started "alternative programming" this is what lead to real world and road rules and teen mom and all the bs that has nothing to do with music.
Well…16 & Pregnant was before Teen Mom and even that was 15 years after this. To me, this was the prime of MTV…Real World was great initially. This show at least tied in pop culture and current music. It was more of the demise of music videos themself that forced MTV to make the unfortunate changes they did.

It actually lasted a long time by MTV standards. Four seasons. Ken Ober was the anti-host, and he filled the role well.
MTV was irreverent back then, this was basically a loose slacker parody of a game show.
