Thanks so much for this video. I am a woman from Texas and new to this class. This is very helpful for me to learn navigating. I will need to practice these techniques because it seems a little confusing until I understand completely. Again I appreciate your video as well as all your videos.❤
Watched to the end and I enjoyed the video a lot. I'm 45 and spent my younger years tooling around the woods, these days I live vicariously through RUclips mostly.(for context). I learn a lot and appreciate all of the "out of the box" things you do with your channel that stands out from the "norm". Nothing wrong with repetitive learning necessarily, It's just what makes your channel stand out in my mind and I mean that to be a good thing and in my opinion it keeps your demographic broader. My only negative feedback would be that I was disappointed that you didn't include the campfire bacon and eggs!🤙.
I’m a former marine myself I currently live in Vermont and I used to struggle with land navigation. Your instructions in your videos have been very helpful. Thank you and Semper Fi!
From someone who has taught boating education for 20 years, I think you did a good job. You told people in the beginning what they can expect to learn in the class. Then you broke it down with pictures and demonstration so a person watching it can follow along. People learn different ways and it's difficult to accommodate everyone and I think the way you taught is good to help most be able to grasp the concepts and retain the information. Then you followed up with a summary at the end to help the students remember what they learned.
Thanks. I've never been camping nor lost in the woods. I use your lessons as a fun way to keep my 82 year old mind sharp plotting a course around my S. Cal neighborhood when I go for a walk. You probably never thought of that service you provide.
Brilliant instruction, As a past scouter I found your promotion far better than what I thought I knew. I won’t get lost now, not that I ever have but very good show. Thanks. Stay safe.
🎉🎉 CC is a professor of survival. Very well done. Great class lecture. Demo etc. Perfect. Clear. Descriptive. Detailed.🎉 learned a lot. Simplified the mystery.
I learned compass navigation when I was in the Boy Scouts . It became useful later in life but that was 50 + years ago . Always good to refresh forgotten skills .
it was very good to know how to read and use a compass, plus explaining the use of the compass. because i didn't know what the tick marks were for and now i do. thank you
I like the online classroom format. You have a unique outlook combining traditional and modern bushcraft, a military background, and your building background. And you emphasize your way is not the only way. Many people complain your videos are redundant, but yet you have such a large repertoire. I have watched several of your land nav videos for example. Each time I pick up on something new or refresh what I have forgotten. Keep doing you!!!
You laid out everything a beginner would need to know. Ive watched all your previous videos from years back until now and your teaching is straight forward and concise. Great class
Morning The classroom setting is good plus you bring the classroom to the field. I’ve learned from your old nav videos but it’s always good for a refresher. You’re a bomb a$$ teacher. Keep grinding!!👊🏼👊🏼
Another great video. You just simplified some complex concepts. I bought a Suunto MC 2 and now have them in all Bug out Bags and chest pack. I never heard of LAMS and just now wrote it on the flap of my waterproof field notebook, right next to my pace count reminder. I look forward to the rest of your online videos!
Definitely interested in the online classroom! Looks like you’re off to a good start with it too. I’m a big hands on learner and I like how you’re implementing going out into the field after a short classroom setting 😎
Corporal, I am always watching your videos. I like them all the time sometimes even when I sleep, I put them on rotation. This is a good learning segment for how to use a compass my suggestion/idea would be to like put it in use with a map as in real world, I would say your property, but knowing that you don’t want people, knowing where you are say a different place choose a particular spot on the map and use the compass as well to get to that spot But also knowing or not knowing how many people would enjoy that thanks for what you do keep up the amazing content
Almost 2 years ago you asked your viewers to go back and watch older videos. I've done this gave them all 👍, didn't find one I didn't like, hard time finding one I haven't seen. Great job. The only problem is I can actually smell bacon and I'm not cooking any, but that's ok, so far nobody else has noticed the aroma. Keep up the great work and don't change your style.
Very well done. One of the best explanations I´ve ever heard. Simple and understandable for everybody. Great shot. My general opinion..online classrooms are great for theoretical things, like you did it here, on the other hand, it might be useful to see the finished result...like building something, and so on.
Excellent video. As soon as you started your presentation I grabbed my 45 year old Silva Ranger 15T Compass, which has some similar characteristics to your Suunto compass, and followed along. Never too old to refresh ones skills. One point however, some viewers may be a bit confused as to what the smaller black arrow in the compass housing is all about. It's a clinometer (clino) needle used for topo (topography), tree heights, elevations etc. That could be another video, but you covered the basics very well. Well done Corp. 👍👍
Excellent explanation which EQUALS the BEST I've seen in my 83 years! I welcome this typle of simple & clearly-explained instruction. My personal concern is over multitudes of younger generations who depend upon electronics, but who've never held a compass in their hands & know little or nothing of the realities of real woodsmanship! Corporal, you do a excellent job! Thank you & God bless you. The Old Preacher
I don’t leave many comments been watching your channel for a number of years this was a excellent video I’m a for you doing a on line class set it up 👍
Excellent video. Relatively easy to understand and to the point. I can infer from your teaching style that you've had to train a few 'rocks' in your day? I love that you mentioned the A2. I LOVED my A2. Keep up the good work, brother. Semper Fi!
This was very easy to understand & interpret. You laid it out plain & simple for everyone to comprehend. Thank you for teaching this valuable skill to everyone. Keep up the great work!
Great video as usual. The material was presented in a way that was easy to follow and understand. Then it was locked in and affirmed during the demo section.
I really enjoyed this. Getting up in years and don’t get out like I would like. I taught map and compass in boy Scouts. Some of the things you discussed isn’t even in the handbook. Wish I knew some of this back then. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
I think it went very well. beginner level is perfect for a start. Your delivery is great and easy to follow and learn from. My granddaughter is going to give it a go.
Yet ANOTHER great informative video. Please keep em coming . I look forward to seeing your Sunday uploads ( not to worry, I also watch every midweek video as well). Thank you for all you do. ,🫡
As a former SARTEC (ground and underwater), I can say that your teaching is spot on. Perhaps you have a class to marry the map and compass together coming up? Keep up the great teaching shipmate.
For the sample of the online course that this was, I dig it. Easy to digest, easy to take notes from, easy to replicate afterwards. I'm definitely interested in what you'll have together for these courses. Keep doing what you do Corp.
This is something I've said to myself that I need to learn often but never gotten around to. Sitting down with this, some paper and a pen after dinner and getting to it! Outstanding AF, Corporal!
Классное видео! Спасибо! В критической ситуации вычислять обратный азимут будет сложно. Есть простой способ получить обратный азимут. В красный сарай поместить чёрную стрелку. Тогда красная покажет обратный путь.
I already watched your video this morning on my TV but had no way to comment so I logged in with my phone to give you the input you requested. I enjoy your overnighted, but want you to know that you don’t have to stay the night to make your content worthwhile. Seeing it get dark then watching you make coffee and an egg doesn’t add to the primary content you offer on day one. Just saying. With respect to your navigation content to, I found it to be good. However, it was more easily understandable when you did it in the field a couple years ago. Seeing you explain the compass types in a classroom setting was a great idea up front, but the practical application in the field I found to be more meaningful. I remember you sighted a tree through your viewfinder, walked and showed drift, discussed getting back home using the reverse ax.., etc and I learned it immediately. Note that I was never a Boy Scout or in the military but that early video you did hit the mark. Today’s video was a little less coherent for me, and to some extent I should have been better prepared to know what you were talking about. None of this is intended to be criticism. I think your training is great. I just want you to know: 1. Train by doing works well for me and probably most 2. Brief overview is good but classroom setting probably doesn’t take it far enough for most; and 3. Overnight might be fun, but it’s not essential to make your videos excellent. Sharing your knowledge and how to experience is what makes your videos stand out. Keep up the good work.
I like it. Very good video well planned. Sound and video is good. I’ve taken several map and compass classes back when I was a Boy Scout leader. Very good explanations for a beginner. Well done!
I have always enjoyed your training classes, knots, tarps, shelters and the compass training. Keep the training videos going. There maybe a few that could actually survive in a long term event. But I know by watching all your videos puts me in an advantage way above the average person.
Enjoyed video. I have seen this, done this and seen this again. Guess what, still nice to have a refresher. I think many will not watch a video that shows something they think they already know. I will.
Outstanding video! As someone who has been instructing or critiquing others who teach, map and compass for navigation from my military service to volunteer work with Scouting, Orienteering and Search & Rescue, I have seen very few who make it as easy to understand as you do. Instead of "KISS" a good many instructors (whether intentional or not) make it seem difficult to understand like it's a mystery to be mastered. Again, an excellent video. Take care brother.
Excellent video sir. Overnighter, or not, your channel is the best. I actually use my compass constantly here in the Florida when hunting in our jungles. As soon as you take 10 steps without it and turn around, nothing looks the same.

Thx
Thanks so much for this video. I am a woman from Texas and new to this class. This is very helpful for me to learn navigating. I will need to practice these techniques because it seems a little confusing until I understand completely. Again I appreciate your video as well as all your videos.❤
Great video employing the kiss method to land nav." I've never been lost just powerfully confused for a month or two"
You really did an excellent job of presenting this content. Great work... Thank you!

Great vid DD! Uncle Chesty would be proud 🫡. Love that you're empowering people to widen their skills into the bush space.
Cheers & God bless!
I’m definitely all in on online courses if you’re the instructor 👍🏼
Never ever gets old!! Love your Land Nav videos!
You definitely made Compass use much clearer thank you very much

Can’t be explained any better. Easy to follow and understand.
Thanks so much for what you do! All positives have already been written! Keep it up, please.
Best outdoors skill set there is!
You have great teaching skills corporal. Easy to understand and replicate. Have a blessed day
Great refresher course for me. Took land nav 30 yrs ago in a ROTC class and have forgotten most of it.
You laid out everything a beginner would need to know. Ive watched all your previous videos from years back until now and your teaching is straight forward and concise. Great class

Excellent video, Corporal. Practical and easy to understand. Your course concept will work and it should be used and appreciated by many.
Excellent presentation. Chalk talk then live demo is great for reinforcing what was taught. Its the way to go.
It refreshed my brain from learning it in 81 thanks
I don’t leave many comments been watching your channel for a number of years this was a excellent video I’m a for you doing a on line class set it up 👍
Like this. From an old Cav Scout who lived on land Nav, this is a great way to explain and teach.
Awsome basic class very detailed and easy to understand, I know this stuff and was still glued to the screen. Outstanding AF Corp.

Great job with the class, very clear and precise explanation. Looking forward to the next class and applying it to my daily life.
So simple even a 65 year old can understand. Thanks
Great content. Presented clearly. I liked the cattle tag idea. I’ll use that with my nephews and get them using their compasses.

Go for it.
So glad to see this video! I got my wife a military style compass, but you're a better instructor than I'll ever be. Thank you, Corporal!
Absolutely I liked this video. Your method works for me. Would like to see more of this and overnighters.

I've really enjoyed these. I've seen you teach many of these same skills and each time I feel like I learn a bit more. Thank you.
maps & compass will never let you down, because of dead batteries !!!
glad someone still teaching old ways that work !!
Your presentation was to the point, easy to follow, and interesting. You got this teaching thing down. Thanks!
From an old USMC Grunt, you did an outstanding job Marine.
I really enjoy the way you break down the points. Good mix of indoor chalkboard followed up by field demonstration.
I am always amazed how well You teach. Thanks Corporal!!!!!
"Outstanding " very good video.
I just recommended this video to all of my scout troops. Easy to understand and learn. Thank you
The delivery and simplicity makes the difference in my opinion .... and you sir hit both of them every time.
people who hike, hunt. should watch you did a great job teaching
Great knowledge video concise and informative. Memorable basics transferred. Retention should be easier. Thanks. Good luck.
Good ol Sunday morning learning with the Corp 😊
Don't fergit ur crayons!
Excellent video!
Wish you were our instructor back in the day!
Keep Smilin!!!!
Great video, well explained. Navigation has always been my weak point. You made it so much less confusing and simple. Thank you, much appreciated.

I learned more from this video than the 3 hours I spent watching other land navigation videos. You sir are a great instructor
Excellent video sir. Overnighter, or not, your channel is the best. I actually use my compass constantly here in the Florida when hunting in our jungles. As soon as you take 10 steps without it and turn around, nothing looks the same.
I like the on line classroom 👍
Thanx for the nav info !! Nice refresher ! And, yes I never did like the military compasses they were a pain in the backside !! I own a Sunto MC 2, nice piece of gear to have, I would suggest to all who watched this video, if you don't have one, get one.
Now that made lan nav much easier to understand...great video
I like the format - and improvements can always be made if needed.
I believe your instruction style should make it easy for almost anyone to pick this up. Great job. I also believe youtube is messing with your numbers.
