I grew up in Winston from the late 60's until I went to college and went to so many races. The high school I went to had thier football games there at the time (RJ Reynolds). Still go by it on occasion. Iconic track!
I love everything about Bowman Gray and I NEED to make it out there one day. I love the contact and the fist fights, but I honestly can't stand when they turn it into a demo derby under caution.
Went up there yesterday afternoon and there wasn’t an open parking space within 3/4 of mile of the stadium, and both sides of the street had a steady stream of race fans headed towards the stadium! Absolute traffic gridlock from all the thousands of people trying to get in there on top of the 20,000 that were already in there! I just headed back home - I don’t think they missed me! Ha! It’s so crazy that so many short tracks have gone belly up, or are on the brink of it, but this place sells out!!! The haters love to talk trash about BGS, but I’ll bet their local bullrings total yearly attendance wouldn’t add up to what this place does in one night! And I’d venture to say that if those haters spent just one summer Saturday night in the stands, they’d understand! It’s unlike anything else in racing!
I been saying it for a while now. Vice or someone needs to do a real documentary on dirt track racing and how those Dirt Tracks shaped many little southern towns and City’s. Dirt Track Racing cannot be described by words. Ain’t Nothing Like it in the World. Thats why our Family Loves it. Ain’t nothing like the smell of some fresh dirt and Racing Fuel baby 💪🏻
Honest question.....has anyone (driver or otherwise) been seriously hurt or killed at this track? The sportsmanship that seem to be the norm at this track surely breeds the potential for something very very bad to happen.
This is the WWE of racing, tempers flare... I'd wish to go here, it's an awesome track for most drivers to start their racing careers at. The way the racing is here doesn't compare to any other place, not even my local short track in Roseville, CA (All American Speedway).
@@dlawsonlawson1582 haha love that place, little 500 is still a pretty big deal. I usually make the drive up from Cincinnati once a year to see sprints there.
What are you waiting on? So many different venues to choose from and you get to keep up with all the BGS drama! We race there and have a subscription so we can see what's going on at the track.
Regarding choosing tires, I wonder what type of environments and changes they've went thru before ever getting to the trailer at the track. If they're worried about heat cycles sitting in the trailer, it be interesting to know the different cycles various tires have been thru since coming off the manufacturing line. 🤷🏼♂️
That place is a joke! People go for the fights, not racing. You can’t race there without moving people and that starts drama and that’s why people are there. Any other track in the country that shit is frowned upon, except here because this intact isn’t racing. It’s follow the guy in front of you until ya take em out and a fight starts
I’ll tell you just like I tell the rest of the jealous haters… until you go you can’t have a logical opinion every other race track idc where it is, is boring AS HELL this place actually produces quality shit that’s why it’s able to do what it does, stop hating just bc your a chicken shit trying to prove a point about something you know nothing about….
I know this place is crazy but dam these drivers talk like they the only ones that has to get up on the wheel to get a car around a race track dam all race car drivers has to if they want to run up front so these ain't no different or better then others
@jimjohn5348 20 cars. Always in traffic. Always having to turn and be focused. A 1/4 mile track is a bit different than a 1/2 mile track. You are always ultra focused
@@jimjohn5348 okay. So your dad will tell you it's a lot more intense than a bigger track. I ran 24 Hours of Lemons in a $500 car in the middle of 150 other cars. you were always in traffic and never got a break. it's a lot harder on the body than when i'd run a track with not as many cars.
I remember a series on FX back in the day about this and it was awesome. Cool to still see the same guys banging on each other
Actually, the series "Madhouse" was originally on History Channel over a decade ago. "Race Night at Bowman Gray" was on Discovery around 5 years ago.
Every race here is live on Flo
@@yepyepuhhuhuhhuh3999 that was one of their best shows after they hopped on the "reality tv" bandwagon.
Love watching dudes bang on eachother
Great production , bucket list to get there ASAP , love that Danny Bohn captured the win !
Definitely recommend I go almost every weekend it's amazing
We go to Bowman Gray almost every weekend, absolutely awesome!

I love Bowman Gray so much. Showed me how to love racing.
This is a great documentary about what could be the worlds craziest track. Well done.
Cant wait for tonights race. Gonna be there in person

Looks like crazy fun, thanks for posting this !
Love Mathew Dillner, excellent video! Bring back lost speedways!!
The best track in history
The original series on History Channel was great.
The second rehash on Discovery a few years ago was good, too.

BEING GOING TO BOWMAN GRAY STADIUM FOR 66 YRS, ITS A ONE LANE TRACK, ITS FOLLOW THE LEADER. I LIKE IT WHEN THEY PUT DIRT ON THE FLAT TRACK.
They don't put dirt on bowman gray guy.

GREAT VIDEO. 16,000 people and it only pays $1000 What's up with That?
I went there several years ago.....really good time

They take really good care of that track. Wish I could say the same for my local short track that once was legendary.
What track

I love watching the little 500 there!
@@nickphilkill818 check out Lawrenceburg Speedway non wing sprint cars race there every week those cars are even better on dirt.
Not sure why they’re racing cars on a go cart track? Only thing that would make this place halfway decent is if that added a couple putt putt courses…
Loved it, great job.
This is awesome......This has Dillner all over it. If Flo keeps this up, I'll be subscribing

now its the clash in 2025😁
Where can I find the Mad House series???🤷
I root against anyone who has quarter panel numbers.
I'm sure they don't care with the money that sponsor pays for the door.
Not even the eNASCAR Heat Pro League would've been safe from those quarter panel numbers. 💀
Hope flo gets the contract for the races again this year… I can’t chase drag cars and show up at the madhouse the same weekend
Yes every race here is on Flo as well as other tracks in the area like south boston and hickory
That definition of Insanity is in no way accurate. Just something dummies repeat
Awesome
cool!
Seems those who can't drive go to BGS
Burt Myers wins modified races all over the south not just bowman grey
This track is actually very difficult to drive
Y’all glorifying this is why racing will never get the respect it deserves
Racing is respected, you are just making stuff up
Where can you go to an auto race and see a hockey game break out? Lol!
Don't you know I'm local SA
Yup...your insane....lol
Trash officials to let the fighting and 2300 pound cars as weapons
Seems fun but it’s seems like those drivers are poor sportsmans. Behavior like that is why they will never make it big
You've got to love the modifieds my name is Derek Ross
Even on dirt they're still pretty awesome
ONE thousand dollars? Really? 🙄
