The Ultimate Guide to the Pick and Roll
HTML-код

- The pick and roll has been run for decades, almost centuries. From Pete Maravich, to Larry Bird, to John Stockton, to Steve Nash, to Stephen Curry, point guards have been running it to perfection for just as long. But how? Check it out above.

Thank you so much for making this video!! I’ve been working on improving my vision.
When you said:
“During a PnR ALWAYS survey the opposite side as well as directly where you came from.” This has helped me massively!!
I think you should include footage of situations in which the hard hedge and trap work, and then point out why the offense didn't execute in those situations.
This is one of the best bball channels on youtube, for real! keep up the great work, love your video and learning a lot. Really paying attention to the detail.
I love these. This is exactly what I was hoping to find! You got a new sub here! The Chris Paul one was the one that got me to this channel
Yo I really appreciate what your doing here and putting all these videos together and really breaking things down for us. It's very straightforward.
Keep up the good work!!
Yo thanks a ton for uploading my request. Best basketball channel on RUclips in my opinion.
Best channel on RUclips. Teaching the game instead of coaching, keep up the good work!
This right here will help me so much just because when I do I do to much but it’s not a race so I can come off cool and take of hot thanks!!😁😁
Great job! You have are now my favorite channel.
One of the best channels ever. Just keep up the good work.
Much respect please keep making videos this channel is perfect. Explains everything. Perfect source of basketball iq.
This Is super helpful thanks for putting out these videos 💯🏀
Thank you for bringing this back 🙏🏾
Learned a lot from your videos. Love it!
The pick and roll is like the most fundamental set used in hoops. In the 90's the P&R was used in a zillion ways by NBA and college teams. Phil Jackson was very innovative by combining this standard move with his Triangle offense. A lot of the young guys in the NBA today like to freelance and dipsy doodle all over the boards without employing this very effective play.
Phil used it with triangle but most nba offenses want to go to ball screen first to attack mismatch, gsw did that to horford in playoffs but teams like suns just use pick and roll to utilize Paul's vision. You are right in the sense now pick and roll is used to get the star shot more than the 90's
Great video ! I played Center at 6.3 and im going to play guard next season. This video really is usefull for me man Thank you very much !
Best pick and roll vid I’ve seen. Even helped me with setting up my defender so they can’t go over before the screen gets set
Amazing vid. Loved it
Great vid man. Like you’re so helpful my guy.
youre so informative. i love this channel
plz do attention to detail kyrie irving like i know u did his handles breakdown but do like his overall playing style plz

Thank you a lot🙏🏼 that was very detailed and was explained perfectly.
It helped me a lot. Thank you very much!

Run it - Logic
This video is underrated, thanks for the content
oh my gosh, this was a FANTASTIC video.
i would suggest slowing the text down, and also slowing some video down as well. still, A+ video, holy moley dude. I learned so much! l always appreciate an academic, evidence based analysis in culture or academic discussion, and you've done it well with basketball
One of the best ones I’ve seen
Great video thanks!
Great video will you do throwback legends for player breakdowns?
Yep!
this needs to be available
Amazing breakdown
Great video, also is there a guide about how to block effectively? If so do you mind linking me the video?
Thanks!🖒🖒💯
Maybe it's splitting hairs but I think a lot of these clips are more "ball screens" and less pick and rolls. But ball screens are a really great evolution of the game. But still a great vid with great guard info.
There we go
Can you do a breakdown on players like Kobe or Jordan please ?
Sir can you do also other play combine with pick and roll in 24 seconds. By the way your videos have the most complete details. Thank you
your actually an amazing bball channel
Who else got a little hype when Run It came on?
Stockton and Malone. Pick and roll helped them to never miss the playoffs for 18yrs.
Can you make a video how people jump when it comes to off dribble vs set shots?
Can you do post moves or anything for a big man? Thanks
great video u rock
Nice one i love to screen for my team
Great vids. Thx. If you wanna take the next step you got to narrowrate
Great Video! I bet you have NBA players watching your channel too. :)

I vibe with the Logic Instrumental
thank you
Helpful
do a video on what the rockets will look like under mike d'antonis offence :)
What is that beat? It's amazing
Logic - Run It
Big man slip? Very effective when the big defender is prepared to hedge hard or switch.
Agreed. We will probably make a big man version soon.
Can't believe a HS kid like me is making these high IQ basketball videos lol.
Do a Jamal Crawford attention to detail or handles break down plz
Why is it more effective to attack the inside when attacking a big?
It’d be hard for them to flip their hip because their momentum is already going slightly to the outside
Cool
What is a pick and roll and what is a screen?
What’s the name of this Instrumental?
please do kemba walker
Great video. Your content is really well made and informative, but I want to point out some things that are a little confusing.
In part 7, you say that if the defender goes under the screen, you should drive every time, but then in the next clip, you say you should take a pull up jumpshot, which one?
Or in the first clip about when the big contains, you say to go one on one with the big, but in the next clip, you show examples of guards splitting high hedges, something completely irrelevant to attacking the big.
After rewatching a few times, I understand, but I think someone who wants to learn might get confused.
Great job though, I expect your channel to become really successful.
+Dylan Quinlan agreed, it may come across as a little confusing. There are so many different reads to the pick and roll, and even to each situation it presents. If we just showed one read, we would be shortchanging you guys, because the best pick and roll players have all of these in their arsenal. I guess the word "always" made it confusing.
By Any Means Basketball You're definitely right. I think some reads may overlap each other and sometimes the only way to choose is experience. Still, I can't stress how good your videos are and I expect this channel to blow up.
The oldest play in basketball, but also the best play in basketball. I wish more NBA teams would adopt a P&R style offense.
elzombito5678 bruh..... literally every single team uses the pick and roll idk what you're saying
J.C.3 香港飛龍 has every team run it? Yes, at one point or another. Is it the primary tool in their offense? Outside of San Antonio, Golden State, and Houston? Not at all. Nowadays it’s a lot more isolation and subsequently piss poor shooting.
J.C.3 香港飛龍 I think what he means is that he wishes that the pick and roll becomes a staple of team’s offenses. Otherwise, you are right.
why don't nba teams do more of utah jazz free-throw line/ side pick n roll. especially if you a good roll/pop big man and a decent ball handler? A team like clippers should use it more often cause they got cp3 and blake.
This music is nutsb🤣
Are you a coach or just a fan?
Something happen to the video it's no longer available for me
It says this vid is not available and congrats on 4k
Appreciate it man. Are you on mobile? If so, some people are having problems viewing on their phones. If you can, it should be available on a computer.
+By Any Means Basketball Thanks
Necesito los subtitulos en español por favor si alguien es tan amable!!
great channel. great videos. great in detail content. but why do you have to block viewers from the Philippines.
Sorry about that, I didn't purposely do it but the song I used in this video and the Chris Paul video caused it to be blocked in some countries. It won't happen again!
+By Any Means Basketball thanks a lot. btw same problem with the pick n roll vid.
+navia810 i mean same problem with cp3 vid
hey man, you might want to use royalty free music....i make beats and im not looking to get paid or anything, just love the game of basketball.

Don't forget double screen and elevator screen.
Having trouble grasp the definition of "hedge" ,"drop", and "contain"...
I've googled it up and still cannot understand
Any one kind enough to do this Asian a favor ?
張致瑋 hedge is when the big man on defense is defending sharply right off the screens there is soft hedges where you can just glide and make a play or aggressive ones where you split the defense. A contain is where you come off the screen and you control the pace of the trailer to buy time to either attack the rim or dish it to your roller. Drop is when the big man on defense is zoning he's dropping back

who invented the pick and roll?
This music wtf man. Can't concentrate with OH OH OH OH OH constantly in my ear.
No one does it better than Stockton I'm alone you should just show them doing it
Video isn't available
Has it been fixed?
+By Any Means Basketball not for me
+w Noah hmmm. Try again now. If not we will try to fix it again.
+By Any Means Basketball sry still not workiing
I had the same problem on mobile, but i came to the pc to watch and it was fine
You don't need to explain how the pick n roll works or how to do it.
Just show 10 minutes of Stockton to Malone videos.
i can really do two Things, drop hits ,get money, run it
Make an Attention to Detail: Kyle Lowry
By far the easiest and best play in basketball!!
