  • Kyrie Irving Pick & Roll Breakdown! How to Dominate a Ball Screen!
    ____________________________________________________________________
    Everybody learns in their own way, but I believe that seeing things done right is the fastest way to figure something out. Watching a master at their craft, over and over until you can visualize it with your eyes closed. That’s the reason for this series, and my mission is to play my part in creating better basketball for the next generation. Now pick & roll is the most used screening action in today’s game, so guards have to get a deep understanding of each read, which is why today we’ll break down one of the best in the world, a master in pick & roll, the one and only Kyrie Irving.

    This breakdown is extremely detailed and yet easy to follow. I can’t put into words how informative and helpful this video is to learning the game.

    People don’t realize how important this video is for ballhandlers in general. This is what you have to practice because it happened so much in game.

    Loved the breakdown, especially the fact that there's attention to both the reads and specific moves he uses!
    It'd be awesome to see similar player breakdowns on players with different playstyles and teammates. For instance, what are the typical reads for players whose main weapons are long distance shots (Steph), passes (Rondo), or a combination (Paul); how defenses choose to try to contain them, and the counters that open up when they get played one way or another. Additionally, what additional reads and moves to make when you have a big who rolls well (Amare) or is dangerous on the pop (Nowitzki). Like you said, most players don't have the scoring skill set or green light to play with the same style as Kyrie, so breaking down players that are great at one thing and play off of their main strengths would be very helpful in helping us round out a realistic, comprehensive skillset.
    Look forward to seeing whatever comes next!

      MakePlayz Absolutely agree! Your channel is so underrated! You're bringing real value to the table while those other clickbait channels keep repeating the same useless stuff over and over again. I have one request though, could you possibly make a video about the "hold" pick n roll situation? When the point guard I believe snakes the screen (?) and "holds" his defender at his back as he dribbles ankle level?

    • @justinwright3977
      @justinwright3977 6 лет назад

      Flow well I think he holds him back because he doesn’t wanna face two defenders and he can go one on one with the big

    “These aren’t random freestyle moves” key point. You see kids on the court looking like circus sideshows. Jerking their neck around trying to look like they’re going to fake someone out. That shit is hilarious when I’m defending them. You just watch their hips. They can’t go anywhere their hips don’t go
