So, I really like your reviews of books so I am satisfied with this video, but I'd like to say, that your book videos are the only videos on yt I do really look forward to watch, so every day I check whether there is anything new uploaded.
As for your cigar videos, I am not so passionate about them as you may be, but I like it that you have another hobby you want to share with your viewers

Beautiful books. Once I have my own library, I'll buy these.

4:56 I love that creaking sound of a new leather book being opened :)

This means that all the volumes of The History of Middle-earth have now been published by Easton Press, with the exception of The Lays of Beleriand, The Shaping of Middle-earth and The Lost Road; I hope they release those as well in the near future.

***** I have both volumes of The Book of Lost Tales from them, but I wasn't aware they released the three volumes that I've mentioned. I can't recall ever seeing them on eBay or elsewhere. By the way, I discovered your channel a couple of days ago, and I really enjoy it.

Do you have a video on the Lord of the Rings set (not the history of)? How do you think this compares to the Folio Society? Idk which one to get!

I purchased the LOR collection which comprised of The Hobbit, the three LOR and Silmarillon. Beautiful books but there is a typo in The Hobbit on page ten that Easton Press will not acknowledge or take responsibility for. The book says on page ten “... the small river than ran”. ‘Than ran’ as opposed to ‘that ran’. This error is not in the original and they basically told me that this is just the way it is. For $325 I expected much more than a beautiful edition, I expected one without errors and typos. I’ve respected EP for years so I’m surprised by their attitude.

Wow! I thought I was great at analyzing things but you take the cake on this one. I would have to agree with you though, it would annoy the crap out of me too.

Yeah ... that's unacceptable. But honestly at this point I'm very much used to it from other (cheaper, faux/bonded leather) publishers/books like canterbury collection books or the barnes and nobles leatherbounds. They often have spelling errors on top of that they often miss stuff. Like the Azimov foundation collection from barnes and nobles misses entire pages of text. The greek philosophers book from canterbury that I got just for the 10 or so pages that contain the enchiridion (of the 1000 pages lol) misspells Alcibiades as Aclibiades etc
On top of that .. I honestly would much rather prefer they start using a good quality, long lasting faux leather over the bonded leather crp that flakes away with the lightest touch. And for the love of all that is holy and unholy, stop plastering big cardboard images on the cover. How do you take a leaterbound and make it look tacky ffs.

Are these printed on acid-free paper? The standard edition has yellowed notably.

How well do Easton Press books hold up over time? I've seen some videos where the gilding has faded/worn-down to almost nothing.

I bought the Greatest books of the 20th Century series in the mid 90's and my books are still in excellent condition. No fading or loosening of the pages.
I just ordered the Lord of the Rings trilogy with the Hobbit and the Silmarillion.

It upsets me endlessly that easton press does not ship outside of the US / UK (I'm not even sure about the UK tbh). I am such a big fan of leather bound books and easton press ones make me want to empty my bank account. But nope, can't even order one for insane prices. Unless I buy of ebay etc and I'm not willing to risk ebay esp not with the shipping etc. I have too many bad experiences ordering books from Amazon let alone from a random ebay seller (although.. I imagine even a random ebay seller will do better than throw a bunch of rather expensive books into a big box with zero protection)

I've never had an easton press book I'm looking into the lord of the rings trilogy. Could you tell me, do the books open flatter / have a "looser" binding than typical hardbacks, or are they pretty stiff?

I have been getting into Easton thanks largely to your videos. I have noticed some books are a very rigid leather, others are soft. I like the soft leather. Are the older prints (1970-80) harder leather and the newer softer, or does it vary from book to book?

It varies. From my experience it doesn't seem to be based on year or price point. Cheers.
