Happy Birthday Ray. 🎂fabulous seeing you here this evening guys. Love hearing about your jolly trip. Have a super time in Seattle. Looking forward to hearing all about it next time. Skyler is so pretty. That was a treat seeing her. 🧶
Happy Birthday Ray! Best wishes for a great "new" year! And wonderful that you guys got to visit with Bob! Have a fantastic trip to Seattle. Very excited for you. Hi to Michael, Chip and Aaron. Yay Skyler. Always love hearing about him and his talking. The Granny blanket looks fantastic! Ray. Your Salish Hat is wonderful and Kevin, yours is looking gorgeous in that green! Eno, Shawn;s Gambler and Jethro, (those colors!), look amazing! Best wishes for August!
What is EXTRA cool about the fact you two are coming to the PNW is that you’ll see the Salish Sea with your own eyes! Can’t wait to meet you. Travel safely!
I love the way the ribbing highlights, the granny squares. I think it looks fantastic next to the granny stripes. IMHO ribbing around the sleeves would be such a nice contrast to the busy granny squares. I think the bottom of the sweater looks great- especially since you’re doing a ribbing yoke/band around the neck & front.🦊
Happy Birthday Ray and Happy Gotcha Day Skylar! It is so great that your Dad likes his sweater and can't wait to get it. It is always very gratifying. Nice job on the granny square sweater, Kevin! Ray, your jacket is stunning.
Wow! I can't believe all the stuff you've done since last time! I looked up and checked how much time passed from the beginning and it was over an hour but you got a lot of stuff in! I still don't know how you do it all, creating/visiting/celebrating/helping/working, in a two-week period! To me, you guys are The Ultimate Dynamic Duo! ❤❤❤
Hi Guys…I always look forward to your podcast. Happy birthday, Ray! Just an update on our weather here in Seattle. It will be in the eighties all week, which will be great weather for y’all. Have an awesome time at Flock and safe travels. ✈I’m sure you’ve been told all the great places to see while ur here. Just kick back and have fun!
I love how you guys love each other. I’ve been married 50 years and it is a beautiful thing to have a partner that ALWAYS has your back and is ALWAYS a soft place to land in this crazy thing we call life. Safe travels guys!
I have also purchased the Salish. Plan on stash diving today. Love the card decks. Will have to find one. What a fun idea. I really enjoy the two of you. Thanks for making me smile and get inspired.
I knitted the Hudson & West 'Saven sweater' this year (just need to block & seam it!) and LOVED the pattern! Very well written, don't be intimidated, you will love it! (and Happy Birthday Ray!)
Aww, it was so nice to see the items from back along pop up again (the mini Chip baskets and yarns). A lovely idea to link the project to the get togethers, too 😊 I recently started up a local get together group and after the first meetup I purchased some yarn to make a blanket with following a discussion with someone else on the night. I like to think that my blanket will have the happy feelings from that set into it! Perhaps your project will be the same 😊
Lovely episode as usual guys 😂😂 i wish I could fly in to Skein yarn shop for your trunk show but it’s a bit of a hike from Melbourne 😂 have an amazing time and give Lori and Justine a big hug for me ❤
Happy birthday Ray! I have never done a hat, I live in FL so not a lot of need for wool hats. I do want to try the Salish hat. The hat you're working on with cables is lovely. I don't think I can knit anything with a needle size of 1. I have a yarn bowl that I love and use all the time. I have been seeing something similar lately in RUclips videos saying don't waste your money... Ray, I think I understand how you feel about your beautiful box. I love your color work sweater/jacket. Makes me think I need to try color work. Kevin, your Jethro sweater looks wonderful! Great job to keep going, honestly, I would have balled it up and thrown it across the room, LOL! Love the stoppers, especially the peacocks. I hope you enjoy Seattle, one of my favorite cities! Would love pics but just enjoy.
I’ll see you at Flock in between yarn buying🤣. I’m spending 5 days so I’m catching a Mariners game and going to the Chihuly Glass garden that’s near the event as well. Thanks for the inspiration. Great knitting!
What a cute Positive Potato 😊 We have several teachers in our family, and I thought it would be a fun sort of classrom mascot. Teachers could reward behavior, conquering a difficult skill, word of encouragement, etc each day. I think students would love finding a Positive Potato on their desk. It is just kooky enough to appeal to even the coolest high schooler.
On your wonderful recommendation I have purchased the Salish Cap Pattern. I have managed to accumulate hundreds of balls of sock yarn and am not really in the mood to knit socks at the moment. Most of my knitting and crocheting is for charity these days and the Salish Cap will be perfect. It will fit many different sizes of heads and enable me to knit down the sock yarn stash. Thanks for your wonderful suggestion. Hat #2 is on the needles this week! Some warmer heads this winter!
Great episode as always! Y'all make me smile so big! I've watched Olivia's podcast since I first heard you mention her. What a dear she is. I'm also going to try the positive potato! And then you showed the Violet Meadow knit up! I just received that last week from you. My grand daughter's name is Violet (just got the silly girl to bed - it's 11:45 PM and she's not quite 6 years old) so I'll make us both a pair of shorties with the skein.
Hi Boys your channel brings me so much joy I love seeing you both and hearing what you have been doing, Happy belated Birthday Ray, ahh bless your beautiful feathered baby he is so pretty I love hearing him in the background you should maybe one time include him in your post look after each other love Julie xxx
Happy Birthday Ray!!! I am SO excited that Flock is FINALLY this weekend!! I am very lucky to live in the PNW, and will be at Flock both days! I have loved your podcast, and hope to run into you and say hello!! If you are looking for Halloween specific doodles I think the Monster is more Halloween-y- Jamie (owner and designer of Pacific Knit Co) will be at the Doodle Bar- Space 18 at Flock!! Which is partially in the same row as Vincent and Max!! Who I am excited to see and squish their yarn!!
Happy Birthday, Ray! Have a wonderful trip and best of luck finishing your projects. PS If the yarn box doesn't work for you, maybe Skylar would like it as a little nesting box :D
Ray, a suggestion for your knitted jacket. You mentioned the weight of your piece, it was suggested to me once to put the project in a pillowcase to help with that issue. I have used this tip for larger projects and find it does help not only with the weight, but also the bulk of the work. Can’t wait to see it done
Happy Birthday Ray, what a cool card that was, love anything HP. Was having a wee giggle at you both tonight with your Yorkshire (york-shirr)pronunciations, I have relatives in that part of the world and they have a wonderful but unique accent that takes a bit of getting used to! As a person from Scotland though I can confirm you've both nailed 'Musselburgh '😊.
Happy Birthday Ray! I glad you gave those Forte needles a second try. I am hoping they will be available in the 4" tips because I will absolutely buy another set.
My husband has watched Supernatural many times- the first time it got him thru many days that he spent in the hospital after a stem cell transplant. One of his favorite shows along with Lucifer
A six hour flight, how many skeins is that?🤣 Yay, your dad got his sweater!!! I got the Forte needles thanks to watching Its Raining Yarn guy. His name slips my mind. He said he really didn't need them but and I said the same thing! I couldn't believe you didn't like them. Phew!!!You changed your mind!!! I love them. Schuyler is so cute. I have another granddog. This time a girl rescue with one brown eye and one blue eye! She's precious. Your hats and sweaters are gorgeous! I have been working on granny squares due to the heat! I don't expect to put them together until it is colder. So which one of you is telling the truth about the box? I bought one of those Prym yarn it balls. I bought it cuz Joann's had a 60% off a regular priced item. Nothing that I need is ever regularly priced when I have a good coupon. This was an unnecessary purchase but I do use it! So, maybe I do believe you Ray. Why did Kevin have the look, though! I like the card decks. I have never come across them. Leave it to you to find interesting, fun things. Have a great time on your "yarny " adventure and I give you permission to break, no smash the bank! Can't wait to hear all about it!
Hi Kevin, Ray and 🐦Skylar, Thanks again for another enjoyable and inspiring episode!Happy Birthday Ray and Happy "Gotcha Day " Skylar 🐦! Safe travels! Enjoy your time in Seattle! Keep 😎 cool! Happy Knitting 🧶
I'm a little in awe of Norman at NimbleNeedles for the INCREDIBLY DETAILED (!!!) needle reviews he has done. Very thorough, very fair, very calm. So it was a bit amusing, at the tail end of his lukewarm to negative review of the Forte set, to hear him exclaim "What did I even spend my money on here?" Because they are very expensive. So, when Ray mentioned he had bought this set, I thought "uh-oh." But if you've worked out your relationship with these needles after a rough start, I'm very happy for you!🙂
Hi guys!!!! Has it been 2 weeks already!?!?! Happy birthday Ray!!! Mine was last Monday. 😉 I WISH I could go to the PNW, it's been a long time, I love it there!! You should also try "Chinese waitress" (double chain??) cast-on, it's actually a short-tail, but it's REALLY pretty & surprisingly streeeetchy, really fast when you get the rhythm... If you're like me, you always have way too much or not enough for a long-tail & end up doing it 2-3 times to not waste yarn. 🤷🏻♀️ Have an awesome time in Seattle!! It's always better to live in the moment, special times get lost with "trying to get the picture". Have an amazing fortnight!!
Hey birthday twin! I went to Skein on Friday. I wanted to go to the Fangirl Fibers trunk show, however she canceled. It's okay, we just hung out and bought some stuff, I did get the Halloween doodle deck. then I went to Lakeshore, the learning store for a couple things for my classroom (birthday pencils)..........Then on my birthday, I went to the new store, Simsbury Yarns, in Simsbury.....got a SQ of some Manos......all in all a good day.....Kevin, Your Jethro looks great. I started one with a bunch of Manos de Uruguay Cotton Stria, which was discontinued years ago and I loved it. So I bought it whenever I saw it and stored it....I am using lots of colors...Ray, I love your Gambler
I just pre ordered The Doodle Knit Directory: 200 playful colorwork motifs for knitted accessories Paperback - October 8, 2024 by Jamie Lomax (Author) can’t wait to play
The hat I'm making (like what Ray made, in the same type of yarn but a different color) looks so different. I'm using a parking brown and a light brown.
I live near Bare Naked Wools shop and near there is an ice cream shop that have been a staple for years and the name is Milk and Honey! Amazing homemade candy and ice cream.
Hello guys from N Texas. I hope you have a blast on your upcoming trip. Does Skylar get to fly around while your away? Happy birthday Ray 🎉 I was wondering would the Salish hat fit a noggin larger than y’all’s?
No need to be intimidated by cables ,you could put a stitch marker between the cables so you know which cable your working on till you learn to read your knitting, kind of how you mark lace sections. Heads up. Cables are addictive
Kevin! Amazing save on your Jethro and it's gorgeous. You have an eye for color. I always crochet while watching tv. you'll get there. Happy birthday Ray, and many more!🎉
Ray probably does more knitting at fiber shows, he typically has a sock that he would around with, I will knit sometimes when sitting down. Some people spend a lot for their time sitting down and knitting. Most events have great seating areas for knitting.
Kevin mentioned Carrie who has a podcast called the ? Obsession. Did anyone get the name of the podcast, I checked the description list but it wasn’t there.
Curious ... how does the bird do around dogs? I heard you say you dog sat, so just curious. That honey/milk yarn looks beautiful but fingerweight is to small for me. Loving all the things as usual. Happy Belated Birthday, Ray 🎉
Thank you Cassie! We aren’t sure who sells the ones that Ray received, but did find some here www.etsy.com/listing/1678046253/nurse-scrub-tops-knitting-needle
Just curious, would the Salish hat pattern work for someone around 9-10 years old? Do I need to cast on less stitches? Thanks for your help. Love watching you both
Omg. That’s me!
Congratulations! I love your reaction! “Omg. That’s me!” You made me smile…
Congrats!!!
Congratulations x
Congrats!!
😂😂 congratulation🎉🎉

Yes!! We got to see it, it was such a great trip.

IMHO ribbing around the sleeves would be such a nice contrast to the busy granny squares. I think the bottom of the sweater looks great- especially since you’re doing a ribbing yoke/band around the neck & front.🦊

@@NeedlesattheReadyPodcastI’ve made two hats so far:)
I knitted the Hudson & West 'Saven sweater' this year (just need to block & seam it!) and LOVED the pattern! Very well written, don't be intimidated, you will love it! (and Happy Birthday Ray!)
Thank you Rosy! We have both been eyeing that sweater, I think Ray will have no problem tackling that pattern.
Happiest of Birthdays Ray! I hope it's the best! 🎉🎈🧶🎂🥳
Thank you Deborah!
Hi guys, i'm so glad you received the stoppers, i wasn't sure, it will arrived. Thanks for the great moment with you, always a pleasure !
Thank you so much for sending the package, it was a lovely surprise.
Aww, it was so nice to see the items from back along pop up again (the mini Chip baskets and yarns). It is so fun when a project is linked to a memory.
Lovely episode as usual guys 😂😂 i wish I could fly in to Skein yarn shop for your trunk show but it’s a bit of a hike from Melbourne 😂 have an amazing time and give Lori and Justine a big hug for me ❤
That would be a long flight. We will definitely give those two a hug for you.

Yorkshire tea biscuit brew 😍😍😍 Enjoy! 🫖🫖🫖
LOVE your Jethro! I really like the granny stripe at the bottom. Very cool.
Thank you! It was a fun project and we love the stripes on the bottom.
Happy birthday Ray! I have never done a hat, I live in FL so not a lot of need for wool hats. I do want to try the Salish hat. The hat you're working on with cables is lovely. Love the stoppers, especially the peacocks. I hope you enjoy Seattle, one of my favorite cities! Would love pics but just enjoy.
Thank you Catherine! The Salish hat is a great gift hat, we would definitely recommend it. A colorwork hat is a great first time project.
Ahhh hope to meet you guys at Flock❤
It was so great meeting you, thank you for the lovely gift.
Happy Birthday Ray, have a great birthday! 🎂🍦🎉
Thank you Karen!
Hey Ray, just wanted to let you know you helped influence my purchase of my forte needle set. Got them & am loving them!! Money well spent! Thanks!!😊
Glad you like them! They have quickly become my favorite 🤩
Have a wonderful time!!!! I know you will get lots of hugs! Oh happy belated birthday!
Thank you so much!
I’ll see you at Flock in between yarn buying🤣. I’m spending 5 days so I’m catching a Mariners game and going to the Chihuly Glass garden that’s near the event as well. Thanks for the inspiration. Great knitting!
Hope you had a great time at Flock.
Congratulations to the winner!
Happy Birthday Ray*! 🎉
Thank you!
Thanks for another enjoyable video. Happiest of birthdays to Ray! The positive potato is cute. Both of your granny square sweaters are wonderful! ❤
Thank you so much!
That would be an amazing way to use the potato.
Happy Birthday Ray🎉
Thank you Debbie!
Happy birthday Ray!🎉 Hope you were spoiled❤️
Thank you Carol!
Wonderful! So glad to share! It’s such a simple pattern but with amazing results 😊
Love what you are both making...enjoy your trip to Seattle🥰🇨🇦Sharon.
Thank you so much Sharon.
I'll be at Flock on Sunday. I hope you enjoy Seattle.
We had a blast, can’t wait to share our experience.
Happy Birthday Ray! That card and LEGO set--well done Kevin! Your WIPs are looking great. Wishing you safe travels and a wonderful time in Seattle.
Thank you Jessica!
We love Olivia, such a kind soul. Thank you so much for your order of Violet Meadow, what a great gift that will be for her.
Happy Awesome Birthday💙🎉Ray❣️
Thank you Doreen!
Great podcast as always

Hi Jessica, Flock was so fun, we stopped at the Pacific Knit Co booth of Sunday.
So nice of your husband to get that for you.
Love hearing Skyler in the background.❤
Thank you! Skylar is a great bird, glad his chirping isn’t too distracting.
Happy Birthday, Ray! Have a wonderful trip and best of luck finishing your projects. PS If the yarn box doesn't work for you, maybe Skylar would like it as a little nesting box :D

Ray your cable hat looks soooooo nice 👍

I will be volunteering at the Merch table. Hope to swing by before my Saturday shift.
Bummed we weren’t able to get any merch, will be keeping an eye out for the post pre-order.

Thank you! What a cute name.

We spend a lot of time in Cle Elum and Roslyn.
Hello you two ❤
Hi Kim! Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it.
Thank you Maureen!
I'm so similar about living in the moment and not taking pictures. I realized that my last two vacations I didn't get a single good picture.
It is so great focusing on the moment, sometimes we wish we took more, but still leave with all the great memories.
I'm a little in awe of Norman at NimbleNeedles for the INCREDIBLY DETAILED (!!!) needle reviews he has done. Very thorough, very fair, very calm. Thanks so much, they are now my favorites 😊
Ha! We call my grandson “our potato”! I’ll be making a potato for him. lol.
Aww, he will love it. It was a fast cute project.
I’ve been eyeing those doodle decks too! I’m curious to see how you like working with them
We will keep you guys updated once we start using them.
I live in the greater Los Angeles area, and I would love to go to some kind of show
Now after attending Flock, if you could make it there, we would highly recommend.
Yorkshire Tea Biscuit Brew is delicious ❤
Haven’t tried it yet, probably will this weekend.
The toast and jam flavour is very good too
Happy Birthday🎉🎉Ray!! Kevin, Yorkshire has only 2 syllables, it is pronounced “york’ shr” Many times shire is dropped entirely. Love you guys❤
Thank you!
Hi guys!!!!
Has it been 2 weeks already!?!?!
Happy birthday Ray!!!
Mine was last Monday. 😉
I WISH I could go to the PNW, it's been a long time, I love it there!!

Have an amazing fortnight!!
Happy Belated Birthday Patti!

I just pre ordered The Doodle Knit Directory: 200 playful colorwork motifs for knitted accessories Paperback - October 8, 2024

We will definitely be getting a copy of that when it is released.

Happy birthday Ray 🎉
I was wondering would the Salish hat fit a noggin larger than y’all’s?
Thank you! It should, the ribbing on it makes a pretty stretchy hat.
Ray, now you can do your socks 2 at a time!!
Ray is thinking about giving that a try.
No need to be intimidated by cables ,you could put a stitch marker between the cables so you know which cable your working on till you learn to read your knitting, kind of how you mark lace sections.
Heads up. Cables are addictive
We both love working with cables, this will be the largest cable project Ray has worked on.
Kevin! Amazing save on your Jethro and it's gorgeous. You have an eye for color. I always crochet while watching tv. you'll get there. Happy birthday Ray, and many more!🎉
Thank you Cheryl!
How do you find knitting and fibers shows?
Ray probably does more knitting at fiber shows, he typically has a sock that he would around with, I will knit sometimes when sitting down. Some people spend a lot for their time sitting down and knitting. Most events have great seating areas for knitting.
Pasquale the Potato!
Cute name
Kevin mentioned Carrie who has a podcast called the ? Obsession. Did anyone get the name of the podcast, I checked the description list but it wasn’t there.
Hi Sara! Her podcast is The Creative Obsession.
Have you made a Budgie colorway yet? He’s beautiful!
Not yet, it is one that is on my list to try.
I’m already sad for you that you’re almost done supernatural 😂 I’m rewatching Xena currently
Us too, it will be nice to move on to a newer show that we want to watch though.
Curious ... how does the bird do around dogs?
I heard you say you dog sat, so just curious.
That honey/milk yarn looks beautiful but fingerweight is to small for me.
Loving all the things as usual.
Happy Belated Birthday, Ray 🎉
When we have a dog over, we don’t let Skylar fly around. But he doesn’t get bothered by a dog in the house.
My birthday is August 3rd as well!
Happy Belated Birthday Anna-Marie!
Happy Birthday Ray!
Who’s the maker of the scrubs needle stoppers? I’d like to get them for my daughter, she’s a PA and those would be perfect.
Love watching you both
Hi Nancy! We think it would work for a 9-10 year old, and something they would be able to continue to grow into.
Sweet potato!
Aww how cute.
Just curious, have either of you tried square needles?
Safe travels
Ray has one pair that he tried, he wasn’t a fan of using them.
