Of course again the media failed to conveniently left out important details. First he was meeting a girl that he met online. Two he was hanging out with the wrong crowd of people that he didn't know. And three was that he was living in a bubble thinking that everywhere he went was a safe space and accepted. I understand that he's trying to help and bridge cultural gaps but there's something clearly to be said and that is some people and groups do not want that they rather live in their own space and group. He took a risk and unfortunately it didn't turn out well. RIP, may this be a lesson and reality check to many Americans that think that the world is full or rainbows and butterflies and they are accepted everywhere.

Sad for his family but also his actions ultimately contributed to this. When you’re another middle aged man coming to Colombia for the sole purpose of finding young women (those young enough to be your daughter) and you frequent areas of Medellín that are known spots to find sex workers and you think you’re a tough guy going into neighborhoods you have no place being in, this is what happens. Just another guy who couldn’t find a woman in his own country and used his economic advantage in another country to be a sex pest and pervert.

The YT feed showed another Asian guy named Nguyen but think he’s Cambodian that was in almost the same situation but sounds like he met the girl in Colombia on a dating app and was drugged, robbed and killed with the same brutality. I now know where I’m not going to visit. By the way, I do know that Nguyen is a common VN name. That’s why I said “but I think he’s Cambodian” And if I was in Vietnam again, I would say Kampuchea I wouldn’t say Cambodia.
