Magneto doesn't have to be and he isn't in the comics anymore so I look forward to us no longer making him the villain in shows and movies. I am glad for the time we had of him as a hero at least
Re Morph's abilities: I've read that what Morph is doing when they change is when they take on another person's form they don't gain their powers but are simulating their physiology. So when Morph turns into the Hulk in this episode, they're mimicking the real Hulk's extreme muscle mass and bone density and gain proportional strength as a result. They're nowhere near as strong as the actual Hulk, but the physical changes allow them to be stronger because they've changed into a body that supports more strength. So the next question would be what are the limits of Morph's powers and just how big (or small) of a form can they change into? Be interesting to see if the show addresses that.
Honestly cyclops made the best decision here. If Charles would have used magnetos powers the prime sentinels would have been reactivated and all mutants would have been wiped out. For as much as Charles likes to scold magneto he is just as guilty of hyper fixating on his own ideals while ignoring reality
I get that but at the same time if Earth's magnetic field fails than everyone - human. sentinel & mutant dies so...I gotta go with Charles on this one (but only by a hair lol)
I'm Team Magneto but I still wish he fixed the Earth's magnetic field. I have loved Magneto since the early '90s but I've never liked him reverting to a villain. Also, how bad is it he talked about walking the cripple's path, harsh Magneto!
Loved this episode. Can't wait to see Storm rise for round 2 next week. And Jean's fight with Sinister was mega cathartic and ain't no way she's done either. I didn't know if they'd truly bring back the Phoenix this season, but they have reminded us the Phoenix exists way too many times for it not to be a strong possibility, and based on where things are going it makes a strong case for her needing to go off. And Wolverine...as they've gone through the episodes, those of us who read the comics, were seeing the signs of where they were going, and I'm still kinda stunned they went there. And it's not just because of what happened to Logan either. The story the show is adapting now is a specific one from the comics in the 90s with some truly major long-term fallout and Logan is only one portion of that. The show is fully prepared to bring on the OTHER thing that came out of that story, and it's gonna be huge.
19:50 yes ma'am originally happened in the 30th anniversary storyline event Fatal Attractions (1993) in X-Men (Vol. 2) No. 25.....had that issue....in real life Wolverine was without adamantium in the comics from 1993-1999.
The professor didn't choose to leave. He was dying in last episode of the old series. That's why his alien girlfriend took him away, it's the only way to save him. But after he got better, he decided to retire but he still wants to visit earth sometimes but we already know what happened next. Cyclops is mad because the professor hands the School, the X-Men, all to magneto. But magneto did tried to be better. But after episode 5? Magneto hag enough. I don't blame him. But destroying earth is too far
I do think Logan made a foolish mistake. The team is not trying to kill Magento, they need him to fix the magnetic fields of Earth sir, why you out here all stabby? Magneto responded to him in a very brutal way but I can't be mad at it.
@@ManOfX305 Get that, still need to right the issue with the magnetic fields of Earth. Charles needs to stand on being a revolutionary, that risk is always on the table. Gambit understood that.
Logan let his emotions get in the way. Seeing Charles like that gave him the excuse he needed to do what he'd clearly been fantasizing about for a while. But yeah, he learned a excruciatingly painful lesson from that shortsighted choice...
Magneto did an excellent job getting his Asteroid M back up and running so quickly with only 3 of them up there so far. 16:20 Sunspot did an incredible job making the glass for it with his powers. Hopefully he brings his kids Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, and Polaris up there too with other friends of his such as Amelia, Emma Frost, Mystique, and maybe even Archangel.
But it comes back far stronger now that it doesn’t have to continually contend with his adamantium poisoning. And he becomes a wild animal for a short while. But he ends up just fine.
I said this on another video but I feel like this episode showed for me that while Charles is wrong, Magneto isn't right either. As Xavier pointed out shutting off the power isn't just hurting the humans. It hurts all of them. And he was gonna keep it off permanently meaning that he was gonna potentially screw everyone over. Like Xavier said he lets his bitterness, anger, and grief guide him and while it's all understandable it does make him sorta shortsighted.
Team Cyclops. It might be time to fight a bit more against racism and not plead for coexistence. But Magneto is going to far. He repays genocide with genocide.
Coming from a comic book reader stand point, neither Charles or Magnus is right. In the end of the day, mutants will always go extinct. So says Moira MacTaggert.
De facto: Team Magneto. He is right on the issues & how "humans" are. De jure: Professor X. The only solution is that of mutual understanding and acceptance, not just tolerance. The Path of Peace is not quick or painless, but its burden is far more easier to bear. I have to choose the path that leads to peace. Team Professor X for the win.
Also while I get people being upset and annoyed by the Professor to an extent they were going a little to hard on him. Some of them were acting like he just decided he was done with them and took off when he was actually taken because he was legit about to die and the bird lady was able to save him. If the argument was why didn't' you come back sooner that would at least be understandable.
I agree but I can also see why they're acting this way. Charles is nothing if not infinitely patient with them - which they know - and they're all hurting, scared and angry right now. Lashing out at him is a safe (albeit unfair) outlet for them. I think once they all have time to process (well, not Magnus so much bc he's been pissed since the 50s) they'll realize that they've been too hard on him and come around
I'm surprised of how *weak* they made the professor look. Not in powers, but in character and integrity. I wouldn't have follow him either at that point. I don't think I would have followed magneto, but not the professor
Well nobody can out debate Magneto in this show. He's verbally owned and humbled everybody he's went up against including the United Nations, Cyclops, and Professor X.
I don't know that i would call it weak, so much as feeling guilty/remorseful. Charles didn't really have a choice about leaving earth, but the choice to stay with the Shi'ar permanently was (selfishly) all him. I'm not even mad at him for wanting to be a bit selfish, but to have such a public marriage wasn't smart when Earth thought he was dead. But yeah, I think he just felt guilty towards everyone he left behind and as such didn't want to fight with them all after experiencing so much loss (that he felt somewhat guilty for even though he couldn't have prevented it).

@imthestein it definitely can and has worked great. I like Mags as both

23:19 the X-Men knew he was with the Shi'Ar but didn't know if they succeeded in healing him or not.

I hear ya. The fact that he was going to allow millions of innocent mutants d!e as well bc of the magnetic field was over the top, even for him

Damage so bad in the comics that it temporarily burns out his healing factor.

That's crazy! But I can totally see that. Just imagining it makes me shudder
Wolverine had no choice. magneto would have crush the professor's head
I agree that he needed to stop Magneto, but I think the near fatal attack was definitely a choice. He coulda knocked him out with that helmet off
