I was brought up in Exclusive Brethren and we were not allowed to listen to non- Christian music, but I heard Joan Baez singing on my neighbour’s radio and I have been a fan of hers ever since.
Two wonderful ladies with the most magical voices and such a beautiful song - I enjoyed watching the interaction and body language/eye contact between these two wonderful ladies.
Love the French people, thier courage during WW II. Their generousity, all that the culture gives, especially the many holy saints, Joan of arch, curie of Ars, the Little Flower, her sainted parents, etc, etc. France is the mother of the church. What history! I am so blessed God gave me the privilege to visit. Vevala France, God 's Blessings to you all.
I played a recording of "Plaisir D'Amour" to a group of Americans a little while ago. Their immediate reaction was one of shock. They could not comprehend the idea that this is an original which was composed during a previous century. As far as they were concerned, the melody to this song will forever "belong" to Elvis because of "Can't Help Falling In Love With You." It's sad that so many Americans can't (or don't want to) stretch their minds outside of this country and current time period. That especially goes for today's younger generation. Many of them consider "history" as being what happened last year! They couldn't care less about 50 or 100 years ago, or more. If it's on the pop-charts this month, they'll passionately eat it up with joy: whereas anything older, that's for "us old people," and by "old" they mean about 30 and older. I've come across this so many times in my dealings in American society.
lol interesting!! But be reassured (or not lol) that it's not only American youth that does that! It's African youth, and French youth and Brazilian youth, you know... I've seen that a lot!
media create our reality. Media lead us to believe that a year ago is a very long time ago. This is so some businessman make good profit by selling new products.Only, when you get old you understand it is not such a long ago.
I wish we saw more duets with Nana, she is able to complement so many voices and still be distinct. Her duets with Mercedes Soza and Jullio Iglasias (not my favourite singer at all) on her Latina album are stunning. Love Joan Baez too.
Love Joan; Love Nana. "Plaisir D'Amour" is a powerful song just right for both sets of pipes. I've been privileged to see both ladies in concert, Nana in her wonderful homeland even -- a homeland which she so generously assists in its time of need. Bravo! 11/2018
Love them both. I put on my mothers records as a kid, Joan Baez always stayed with me. Nana is such a classy lady and performer, she loves Joan and her music.
Ouf....
Two great Divas. I met Joan the 1st time in Caracas on May 31, 1981 and twice on Carnegie Hall in 1998. I met Nana in Caracas but don´t remember the date. I enjoyed them so much. But lovely Joanie is my favourite one. God bless her forever!.
I echo your sentiment absolutely. Real Music, by uniquely talented ladies, Joan Baez, Ñaña Mouskouri , bliss. Not like the Moronic Shite , that gets pumped out by the likes of Simon Cowell, and “ 🐜 Ant &Dec, where did these three talentless pricks come from.
so lovely to watch...this was really unrehearsed then and one can see that..but this makes it even more special...two great ladies of song, two humanitarians! Absolutely wonderful to watch and hear!!
Two of the most beautiful and talented musicians that I love. They could sing any song and it would sound naturally beautiful. To say the least. Thank you for posting this classic. Very grateful.
Every time I watch this glorious performance it irks me to no end that the band had only one mic set up. Two of the greatest female vocalist of all time come to a stage, and there's only one bloody mic. Only at the end of the ballad do some guys start floundering around, trying to set up a mic.
+mightymissk .... well apparently it was impromptu :) And on the other hand it is nice to see how two true professionals simply get on with it and make the best of what they have got !
+Isukat Goldie Perfectly stated. Too often in those days having the pros there was most of the effort. Later they realized that their music was more valuable it they put some effort into the production/recording side. and the video taping quality improved. We missed a lot of great voices for lack of good foresight!
Wonderful my Joan , this is the third song { the first was banks of the Ohio then long black veil abf then Plaisir D’Amour I loved you for it . that I ever had heard of you in 1969 at the age of four and joan you and Nana Mouskouri are a formidable duet I accompanied you with my alto in harmonies I love you Joan Loved we are deine Kathy Ka Baez felicitations for nana mouscouri too It’s wonderful joan how you are caring fir her in giving her Guitar Melodie and embracing her voice with yours
@moustaki According to Wikipedia, Paisir d'amour was written in 1780 and arranged for orchestra in 1859. I don't think Roussos is quite old enough to have composed this.
I have been a fan of both these ladies for a long time. A beautiful duet, too bad they couldn't put out more. Greetings from Canada. 🇨🇦🙏🌹(sorry it's not "The White Rose of Athens" Nana) I love you both, voices and everything else.
Joan and nana were all beautiful and grace. perhaps there will be none such as they had emotions ,musical power, and attraction I miss you from English novice
+Chris Whitworth . How right you are. I play Nana Mouskouri and Joan Baez when I need to regain my peace of mind - and in no particular order!! Thank goodness for You-Tube.
Even in 1984 you would think that they could get one more microphone out there to make the most of this legendary impromptu performance! Oh well, still amazingly good! Love and peace.
Two legends singing together. A treat!
Great music.
As a fan of Nana Mouskouri (since I was a kid) and of Joan Baez, this duet is something I never ever expected to see, almost like a dream come true.
She always sang with the greatest. Harry Belafonte,Julio Iglesias, Demis Roussos etc...
@@aliciaha1 Amen.
@moonlightembrace you're right, it's quite incredible !
I was brought up in Exclusive Brethren and we were not allowed to listen to non- Christian music, but I heard Joan Baez singing on my neighbour’s radio and I have been a fan of hers ever since.
👌👌❤❤
Wow. Two supreme vocalists.
This is just amazing.
superbe
Two beautiful women with voices like angels! Heavenly
Joan Barz and Nana Mouskouri together! Heaven.
Two angels singing on earth. Doesn't get much better than this!
Have had the pleasure of seeing both these ladies perform. And I was twice blessed.
Two of my favorites together! Doesn't get better than this!

She’s also one of the most quietly skilled and tasteful folk style accompanist guitarists on the planet.
Two beautiful legends on stage
Two wonderful ladies with the most magical voices and such a beautiful song - I enjoyed watching the interaction and body language/eye contact between these two wonderful ladies.
One year later....so awed by these women and their voices - some of the best voices we have been blessed to hear.
Who on earth could ever replace these wonderful voices?????????????
What a pleasure it is to hear them in harmony. Who's missing? Mary Travers, of course. That would have been double magic.
Masterclass! Respect to Nana and Joan!!
Beautiful duo !!! I didn't know they sang together - Wow !!!
... The best... Etern Girls
Nana longs everytime to join beautiful voices, she loves sharing songs and perform generally nicely

OMG! Two of my all-time favourite female singers! This is lovely!
Yes!
Nana Mouskouri is angel, I'm absolutely sure about that!

Hmmm, I'm not sure if "thank you, that's reassuring!" is exactly the answer I want to say... LOL.
But you understand.
media create our reality. Media lead us to believe that a year ago is a very long time ago. This is so some businessman make good profit by selling new products.Only, when you get old you understand it is not such a long ago.
If you want to hear another beautiful rendition of Plaisir D'Amour RUclips Canada's Catherine McKinnon. she sings it in French...beautiful
They are all naturally stupid people
deux grandes dames aux voix sublimes
They are so cute! Like little friends! Very beautiful when they sing together even if Joan Baez is (for me ) the best of the both.
Heaven on earth. Ravishing! Two musical sacred monsters. Beauty at its highest degree. May God keep and bless them forever. Amor e gratidão do Brasil.

Los niños del pireo
Un régal. Merci.
Wow...amazing sound and texture...their harmony is phenomenally perfect.
If that performance was impromptu can you imagine if it had been rehearsed? Nana & Joan sound wonderful together.
Stunningly beautiful!
This invokes memory of a friend who sang one of the songs. He became a Navy pilot and died in Viet Nam. Powerful stuff.
Nana Mouskouri, I have seen her in concert. What a talent.
