There was a family on the street I grew up on that stole a horse and kept it in their garden. It was taken back by the police, but I always laugh when he tells that story. Takes be back 😂
Here's one. True story, I swear. I was having a new carpet put down years ago. I was chatting to the fitters about working in people's houses (I used to be in the building game) and we were swapping stories about the odd things you sometimes encounter. One of the fitters went, "You won't believe this... I was fitting a carpet in this house just down the road. No word of a lie, right - this guy had a bastard *_pony_* in his living room! Just standing there!" I had a funny feeling I knew where this was going... I closed my eyes and said, through gritted teeth, "Was his name Mike?" "Yeah! How d'you know? Have you worked in his gaff as well?" "Nope. He's my fucking uncle!" And every time I hear Karl tell the horse story I think, "Yep. I can completely believe that happened..." 😂 PS - I love my insane uncle to bits. He listens to opera while drinking brandy as he unwinds of an evening these days. Not book smart by any stretch (he literally still can't spell his own name properly - gets the 'a' and the 'e' the wrong way around even now, at 70) but one of the funniest, sharpest-witted characters you could hope to meet. 😊
