Other than my child and my loving spouse, no one on planet earth has brought so much joy into my life. This man has made me laugh so hard I thought I might die during the hardest trials and tribulations of my life. I watch Norm clips and listen to Tool when my life is imploding. Through extreme trauma, diacetylmorphine withdrawal, the passing of my dearest friends, etc. Norm had me laughing through it all. I think it’s usually weird how people think they “love” celebrities. It’s parasocial and creepy. I 100% love this man. What an authentic soul. He is still teaching me how to exist in the world. To see the absurd behind the horror, to see the love behind the hate and to always find a way to help the people around you laugh in response to the heaviness of it all.

It still makes me sick that they exploited every other thing he said or did, but while getting bullied at a park, he makes a comment that he mentally can not understand the social acceptance of, and the world suddenly has a problem with an aspect of his disability. He never did, nor would do, anything inappropriate to anyone, no matter the age or gender. He was embarrassed, sad, and frustrated; sadly all of which are feelings he was very familiar with. He then made a terrible statement that should’ve been corrected and used as a teachable moment. Instead, the world made him believe he’s a monster. 🤢

I worked with people who had intellectual disabilities and many of them had sexual interests in children. They are not pedophiles, they themselves are children in adult bodies. I never let any of the folk I took care of be around children unsupervised and they never went out of their way to pursue children.
