  • Hello Istanbul!
This is my first time in Istanbul, but my second time in Turkey. I've visited many parts of Turkey, but never Istanbul until now. I’m thoroughly enjoying this vibrant city, especially visiting the mosques, sampling the street food, and savoring some local wine. Below is a list of restaurants we loved and would like to share with you. Enjoy!
Best local food in the old town: Ayasofya dürümcüsü Kadir

I LOOOOVEE how you're budget conscious, gives me hope I can travel again. So cute you found the only restaurant with reasonable prices. 😍 Clever to skip the Blue Mosque. When I was in Paris, I never went into Eiffel tower because 1- creasy price 2- long long long queue. Notre Dame de Paris was free, and significantly more impressive, so huge you feel like a tiny grain of sand. 😯

I've done quite a bit of research, and I found that food in the old town is extremely expensive, with Google reviews often being inaccurate. We went to one restaurant where the same kebab cost three times as much, and it didn't even taste good. Having been to Turkey before, I know what a good kebab should taste like. Fortunately, we found a better restaurant eventually. Also, 25 euros is a lot for a ticket. I wish we could have visited Istanbul before 2024 when entry to the Hagia Sophia was still free.

Thanks for showing us that huge tall stone. I forget what you called it. I loved the history of it and it was very impressive.

Cool! I love Istanbul! Spent sometime hanging out at the Pudding Shop during the 70s on the overland route to India.

Enjoy all those old world buildings before they are gone. Funny how nothing modern lasts, yet we are so advanced now.....yeah right.
