This is the most realistic and crafty accurate room tour I’ve ever seen! Seriously! You opened your cabinets and I was like “Yup” stuffed full with crafty goodness and school supplies…looks familiar 😂 Thank you for sharing your space and organizational methods that work for you.
Thank you so much!! I'm so glad it was relatable. I even had paper scraps on my floor but I edited most of that out...I could've vacuumed but it wouldn't have lasted long so I decided to forego that "chore"...lol
I love the hexagon windows...just not red...but the color windows are just out of place to me...lol. I've lived with them for 15 years so I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to just let them be. Thanks for loving them and watching!
Thank you for showing us a "not perfect" but oh so wonderful craft space. Much more attainable than the totally coordinated rooms that just make me sigh.
Thank you, Fawn...it's definitely not perfect to some but it's PERFECT FOR ME! 😊 That's just how my brain works and with limited time in there, it helps if it's all on "display" for me...lol. Thanks for watching and, more importantly, for being supportive of my "not perfect" style!
It's not bad at all...especially since everything else in my craft space doesn't really match. Plus, who am I kidding...white would probably have to be cleaned more than the brown...lol. Not a fan of adding more chores to my plate...hahahaha
Man...Totally Tiffany has some EXCELLENT storage options. I have some of her envelope things for my die-cuts. I'm not sure I have table space for her scraprack though but you never know! Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for watching 😊
That wood table I have has been damaged by all the "love"...do you protect your 50-year old table or just view it as a piece to be used and show the love and fun you have at it?
@@scrappinkaty I use a glass mat to protect it. This little trundle table has lived in Illinois, Oregon and California so wherever our next journey is it will be my only table. I see family and memories whenever I craft. I use the chairs in the dining room.
This is reality! I love your craft room. Mine is a total mess and Im ok with that. It's small and I can't find anymore space to put anything. Isn't that the best thing? LOL. I now store my fabric bins out in the shed (I call it the fabric store). People say, "oh you have a lot of stuff". I sure do! this is years of crafting and collecting with purges in between. I always keep "fire hazard" in mind so things are unplugged at night, heat is turned down, etc. It's my happy place. It's a workshop outside - I have one half and my husband has the other - he is a leather crafter, so we spend our days together out here. Its warm , its sunny and its perfect.
DEFINITELY reality...lol. Thanks for watching - I LOVE fabric (not so much a user) but in my "dream space" I'd have a wall of stacked quarters just for the patters and colors...they're so much easier to see than pretty paper 😊
Thank you, Cynthia! It's definitely a big room which is totally different that the prior spaces I have. The idea was to also have a crop table or two but there just isn't enough room for that (unless I can overtake our living room...insert evil laugh here)
So refreshing to see a space that looks lived and crafted in! I keep trying to get mine all magazine ready and spotless but thats not my reality!🙃 i do envy the size of your space, my head was full of so many ideas if i had a space that huge.Your football story😆😆😆😆 i guess your boys made it though even if the doors didnt😂😉💕thanks for sharing, i love how you had so many special, sentimental things throughout your space.
Thank you so much! I definitely long for the "all white, everything in its place" type of room but for now, this brings me joy! That glass wasn't the only thing to fall to the boys and their shenanigans....there's still a secret (going on 15 years now) that none of them will tell that involved a brand new 50-inch tv. They were grounded for two months and only received one Christmas present that year...lol
@@scrappinkaty LOL, I have 2 boys, we lost a TV to the Wii controller being flung into it, accidentally of course. Boys will certainly keep you on high alert😉
Your nosey neighbor stole the show! So cute. I had no idea that you had such a large crafting studio. I really need to clear out my area in the basement so I can really spread out too.
Large Space with TONS of traffic in there so it's hard to shut it off from the rest of the house...Catch 22 - I love having them nearby but FB & YT Lives are few and far between because of all the distractions.
It's nice to have family heirlooms with you and loved. I also love to have everything within reach, above, next and under my table which is wind up from Aldi but it stays at the same level for my seating height.
I’m so glad to find someone else that has mismatched furniture. None of my craft room furniture matches, but that’s ok because it works. No one really sees it but me anyway. I have a ton of memorabilia from different generations on both sides of my family. I also have a lot from my childhood which means so much to me. I loved seeing all of yours. I love how big your space is and that you can still interact with family while your crafting. Thank you for sharing your wonderful space.
Thank you, Lisa! The memorabilia is definitely something that I will incorporate into any space I have. I mean...after all I'm in the business of telling my Family's stories through their scrapbooks so might as well have generations of memory-invoking stuff around (or at least that's how I see it) :0)
Love how your space is full of so much crafty goodness, and also treasures that are close to your own heart. Was so fun to watch you walk around you room.
It really is helpful to have the most current in the My Acrylix Organizers then it makes it easy to transfer those to my larger organization. I hope we get those back in stock soon :0)
Your space is about twice the size of the room I use for crafting and I have a built in just like yours except it only has one area for a seat to fit under, otherwise almost exactly the same. Mine came with a white laminate top. You could do the same to brighten it up and then put glass over it. Glass makes for such a nice and easy to clean surface to work on and protect the laminate. Enjoyed your studio tour!
That's a great idea about changing out the top and adding glass! Thanks for watching and letting me know your enjoyed the tour (I was a little hesitant at first but just had to 5-4-3-2-1 it)...lol
I really enjoyed your craftroom tour. I loved seeing your beautiful family photos and memorabilia. Most of us have duplicated the Ikea Craft room model. It was actually refreshing to see a room that has grown over time and not purchased all at once from Ikea like mine and everyone else's. I really love your big, roomy space and your storage solutions.
Thank you so much! I want(ed) the "clean, organized, iKea-ish" look but after hearing all the comments, I'm happy that I've embraced what I have...EVERYONE should! Thanks for watching!
Love seeing your space Katy and love all your memorabilia and family treasures! I too love having those special touches in my space and throughout my home - things that bring warmth and that cozy feeling to my heart. It's so inspiring to see the many different ways everyone organizes and works and I am enjoying tips from the whole team. Thank you!
Thanks, Sherri! I have learned soooo many neat storage solutions watching the other videos. We talk once a month on zoom...for HOURS...lol...but we hardly get to see anything past where they're sitting. It was fun to actually get to envision myself in their space and crafting where they craft :0)
Love your space. And I love the realness and relatableness of it. I am currently going through my space trying to eliminate some stuff, but it is so hard. I want to keep everything. I found a few great tips I may incorporate from watching your video tour. Love all your memorabilia sprinkled throughout too. Thank you. ❤
I have a bad habit of wanting to keep everything too....I can tell you it's a lot easier for me to clean my closet than my craft room - I had high hopes for soooo many things in my craft room...lol. Thanks for watching, sweet, TALENTED Vicki!!! I've enjoyed seeing your quilt creations and recently saw a paper creation...makes my heart HAPPY!
I loved your tour Katy! I love a lot of the things you do too like school supplies and other crafty items. Unfortunately, I don't have any kids at home anymore to make teacher gifts for but I do make a lot of other craft and art projects.
I'm so glad you liked it, Dana...I have ALWAYS loved school supplies - before I had kids and probably after they're all grown and gone. AND....even though I have a stash, I always find a reason to purchase more when it's time to do teacher gifts...lol
The room reminded me of my room, the biggest difference is that it is my home. I live in the double garage turned into a flat for me & the rest of the house is where my family lives. Since moving into the flat 10 years ago next weekend my crafting has grown as we joined CTMH in Australia, so now ten years later my lovely neat flat is a craft room with me sitting in the middle of it so when anyone decides they want to visit me I have to tidy up & shove as much in my teeny tiny bedroom as I can & close the sliding door BUT the worst part is bringing it all out again so that I can get in there to jump into bed. My original bedroom which is separate to my flat was actually a study but is now my overflow storeroom but lately others have been putting their cast offs in there as well, so when I want some old stock or extra spare stock I have to walk crab-ways in there to reach what I want. My daughter is not a crafter & says that when I go then she will just hire a large bin & get rid of the lot!! 🤣
I remember in our last house, I had one wall of our living room which spilled out to my couch, a fold-up table, and our dining room table if I was working on an Album. I would have to quickly dismantle all that when we'd have company. It still brought be JOY as much as my larger space does now...same with the under-bed storage I had at one of our apartments and I would have to lug out every time I wanted to create. Oh the memories!
Painting cabinets shouldn't cause an issue with them shutting i painted ours are you using the right paint? We use high gloss paint they shut like they are supposed to. When you pain drawes you only paint the front not the sides
I think our issue is we take them off to sand them down...even under the hinges...because there are soooo many paint colors and coats of paint...lol. We recently had some that only had one coat of paint on them so we didn't feel the need to sand as thoroughly and left them on...it was so much easier!
I keep asking myself that same question...lol. I'm going to show my husband your comment so he knows I'm not the only one thinking we should...lol. Thanks, Laura!
Oh my messiness! It makes me tired seeing all of this just everywhere. Katy makes beautiful things, so I guess it works for her. Send Erin over to help her organize!
A real craft room🤗

I love having (what I have left, after Harvey) furniture from my parent's home. My daughter has her great-grandmother's buffet!
I love that some things were saved from Harvey!
You might try a scraprack from totally Tiffany. Everything is in one area no need for stack bins that take up space.
