    This was something my guitar teacher showed me a long time ago. Break your scale shapes down into arpeggios, you start to see them differently

      @@chingonbass I don't, sorry. But it's basically play every other note in the scale. So C major is CDEFGAB and you'd stay with your normal C major scale shape and play CEG, DFA, EGB and so on. If your scale was 1234567 you'd play 135, 246, 357, etc. Helps you break down the whole scale shape into chords.

    Although I do play both guitar and bass I can say much prefer bass guitar because it seems so much more symmetrical and approachable and so much more fun to play because of this

    what's the difference between flats, minors, sharps and majors in bass?

      flat is halfstep down (1fret lower), sharp is halfstep up (1 fret higher). minor is three half steps up from base note (3 frets higher). major is four half steps up from base note (4 frets higher). good luck mate you got a long way to go.

    This is critical what he said about the box shapes. Learn the hand of C major, arpeggios, upper exenstensions, every diatonic note in the scale. And then learn the Minor fingering Aka dorian, I guess you could do the rest of them as welll holy hell

      All the arpeggios here are with the 7th on top, so when he says C major he means Cmaj7, and then it’s Dmin7, Emin7, Fmaj7, G7, Amin7 and finally B half dim 7

      Arpeggio up, scale down, landing on the next note of the scale repeat from there. So, C-E-G-B-A-G-F-E D-F-A-C-B-A-G-F E-G-B-D-C-B-A-G etc
