He hopped up on stage with my band a few times in Nashville. I got to trade solos with him (I’m a guitar player). I felt like such a child playing all my cliche blues licks, lol. What a freaking monster player.
Henrik understands how playing the same passage with different rhythms solidifies the muscle memory. The man is amazing! Thanks, Scott. The older I get the more I appreciate talents and skills I don't have.
Heinrik Linder is probably one of the best bass players in this decade. It is not to be overlooked that he also understands the keys very well and the harmonies when you press several keys at the same time.
I love it when he admitted that he sure had weakness in practicing as well. Legend are not just talented, they practiced till their eyes turned blue for what they are today
Well... that’ll keep me busy for awhile. Arpeggio up and scale down, then arpeggio down and scale up, then scale up and arpeggio down, then scale down and arpeggio up. Weee
what's the point of a temperament tuning layout if you are playing in a band with other instruments not using this tuning system? Seems like you'd all need to be on the same system or there'll be problems. Probably better to just get yourself a fretless bass, then you can adjust any way you want as you are playing.
that thing about c maj up d minor down and so on comes from jaco's modern electric bass method - i had the cassette of it - but then i discovered bass is not for me - though i love it - and bass is still the first part i listen to when i listen to a song
Ey Scott I really really love your videos, your actitude, the way you explain anything. And i know you are no reporter, but you should reduce the "yeah yeah yeah". Don`t get me wrong, i only think that you could take this videos to the next level just by improving that. Cheers from Argentina.
Scott my man I have just got back in to playing bass because I have a bit more time on my hands, how is the best way to work out the rust from not playing for a year and a half almost 2 years? :(
Hey Scott i hope you or whoever handless your RUclips channel answers this: im about to pay my first month subscription on the webpage to start to learn, my question here is if there is an order on the courses like when you go to school? I mean its my choice what to study or there is an order on the lessons ?
@@fernandoortiz1849 Hmm, you can filter by beginner, intermediate, and advanced. And there are about 2 or 3 courses for absolute beginners to be done in order. The first is introduction to all of the parts, second is basics of how to play and then 3rd is some beginner bass lines to try. After that you just go for what interests you.
So, it's C-E-G-B up (on the staff but down on the Bass) and then C B A G F E D C? The D-F-A-C up (on the staff but down on the Bass) and then C B A G F E D C, again? The scale going down is specifically the same through the arpeggio unless the mode is changed? So, Maj-Min-Min-Maj-Maj-Min-Dim arpeggios (w/ Ionian (going up)) Min-Min-Maj-Maj-Min-Dim-Maj arpeggio (w/ Dorian (going up)) Min-Maj-Maj-Min-Dim-Maj-Min arpeggio (w/ Phyrgian (going up))... and so on... Is this what he means? This can apply to all various scales like Harmonic Minor Modes, Harmonic Major Modes, Melodic Minor Modes, Jazz Modes etc...
whole exercise is in one key, in this example C, so.. you use only CDEFGABC. Every arpeggio is in key of C but starts with next tone and back by C scale.
play this scale, remember notes ABCDEFG# and use the same pattern. Arpeggio ACEG# and back by scale so FEDC, next BDFA and back G#FED, next arpeggio from C etc...
@@noseyparker6622 It wasn't my intention to disrespect, but I think you assumption is very reducctionist; you simply can't take out all the work Hendrik and other great bass players have done for the instrument, neither the whole tradition of jazz and fusion, and hours and hours of rehearsal and look for impriving yourself, saying that it's just math. True Temperament fretting system!! Nice bass, nice technique and playing!
His playing really melted his frets!
Henrik is awesome! I'm a fan. Real bass player.
He's an absolute beast. Really cool of him to share some of his practice process with your channel.
Love both Henrik and Scott. Thank you guys, for the great interview / advice...
My first bass teacher straight up adapted the Hanon exercise to bass, and they changed my world. Great fretboard exercises.
I love it when he admitted that he sure had weakness in practicing as well.
Legend are not just talented, they practiced till their eyes turned blue for what they are today
I love how you're slowing down and breaking down and kinda explaining it to us. Especially the Arpegios in the C scale part.
2:19 BRO!!! That is one heck of a hack for self learning!! Thank you!!!!
Suddenly this makes so much sense to me
To me the best, young bassist out there.

Drinking game: drink everytime scott says "yeah"
How about every time he says "ouse" ("us")

Expressing yourself in a foreign language isn't always easy, even americans use a lot of yeah's likes um's etc.
Pls make some kind of discord server where we can do this

Scott, wow, the fingerboard on your bass
Pardon me for asking but what is with the frets on Henrik's bass
They are adjusted so it's more in tune I think
It's called true temperament frets. I'm not very knowledgeable about it but if I remember correctly, it's used to get close to perfect intonation

Oh. My. God. That Alpher is the most beutiful instrument I've seen in my life
He just does the same thing over and over (Plays brilliantly! :))
Henrik Linder is a good bass player, I like the techniques.
He's alright
Lol I was thinking that it's similar to the Hanon exercises that I'm currently practicing and then he mentions it... :D
Totally having a wicked day! Thanks for sharing this with us!

Great vid, makes me want to practice more
That Alpher 🎸💎

I took piano lessons as a kid and recognized the exercises. They're from Hanon Schaum for Piano, Book One.

The Hanon on the bass basically👍🏼

That guy's one mother of a bassplayer, although I'd like to see him do all that on a Fender!
@:26. I was smiling. How’d you know one year earlier? Haha
@2.04 it sounded like he was doing the stranger things synth bass line 🤭🤪

Scott, what kind of six string bass are you holding in this vid??

What equipment and special effects is he using?

Mateusz Lewandowski what about Harmonic minor?
A C E G# going down (on the bass) and going up it would be A F D B?
play this scale, remember notes ABCDEFG# and use the same pattern. Arpeggio ACEG# and back by scale so FEDC, next BDFA and back G#FED, next arpeggio from C etc...
Shoutout to Robban
why is his bass connected 2 places ?
Who is the bass teacher @ 2:23?
Gary Willis..
Robert Sundin.
James McAvoy?
anyone know what effect Henrik is using during the intro solo?
something along the lines of this @ 1:27 ruclips.net/video/Oiu3gkW3mnQ/видео.html
The introduction sounded like Mario Kart
What’s the bass scott has here?

Just looking at your frets makes me dizzy
Kevin Wendell Crumb

Much more useful using Jaco’ technique.
O, good.
Lvl up for Bass, lvl up for English.
So much for that "why you shouldn't play 5 string bass"

I'm sorry but in my opinion this is guitar playing. Why not just pick up a Les Paul?
