Well, this was never the goal behind this ;) In my opinion, the Rammstein production hasn't been good since Hellner was replaced. The drums are (contrary to many opinions, the most important part of Rammstein's sound) dull and have less attack. - It just doesn't fit when a band, that is known for their "machine sound" says: "We want to sound organic now!". 2019 I was totally hyped for "Deutschland" but after the first guitarchord hit... i thought my Speakers were broken. And now? The first time I heard ZEIT on the car radio, only the singing could be heard, the rest didn't survive the post-processing of the station. That's not a sign of a good mix... I've been involved in music production for over 15 years now and R+ albums have always been a bit of the Holy Grail for me... Not anymore. But that's just my opinion ;P
And to my guitar tone: It's my 2x12 ENGL box with a Royer 121 and a V30 speaker. I actually use an ENGL Retro Tube as an amp. But in this case I have used a MesaBoogie Rect. and a guitar with EMG81 pickup . And since I don't have a SansAmp, I mixed in a bony sound from an Omega amp (30%).
First comment I see about the production of the last album. I didn't like either. Rammstein sound used to be one of my favorites but I had the same feeling as yours when I heard Deuschland for the first time. And I had the same feeling again after Zeit...
