A year ago, I set out to make power poles DIY-style for tiny boats after watching "The Low-Budget Outdoorsman's video on his version of a DIY power pole / shallow water anchor systems. I've finally refined the version into a very nice set-up on this up and coming yak killer - the Alumacraft TS-14 restoration. This is a good alternative set-up if you don't care for the expense or look of micro anchors.

This is wayyyy beyond my pay grade. I’d be drilling screws through the boat and transom to hold that metal sheet in. And the holes would be in the wrong places. Plus I’d be grouchy when things went wrong. This guy is actually enjoying himself.😵‍💫😳👍🏼

That's pretty amazing. It amazes me how smart some people are. I definitely don't blame you for wanting to build your own. The store-bought power poles are completely overpriced. I look forward to seeing more footage on this when you get out on the water and try it out. Look forward to your next video and again nice job.

Hey Michael, I'm a full time pro photographer, and I dabble in the video side of things as well, including some minor vlogging.
If you want to spend less than $3,000 on a camera setup, get the Canon EOS RP or EOS R body, the Canon branded R to EF lens Adaptor, and a 17-40 F4L. It will do everything you need for your vlogs, and the autofocus on it is amazing. The R is the better body. I personally own the R, and can attest, it's a very very good body. I recently used it as my fulltime backup while my $6,000 1Dx was in for repairs. I can answer any questions you may have, I'll also send you a PM on Facebook. Love your channel!

@@TinyBoatNation If I had to spend under $1,000 , this is the kit I would get.
      a.co/g4VB0Zk
I personally own the manfrotto mini tripod and LOVE it. A lot of people really like the jobi tripod tho.
I have the azden mic with the deadcat, and a Rode mic without the deadcat. The audio off the azden on my list here is much better. The Rode mic's are just have too much bass.
I highly recommend getting two extra batteries. Always buy name-brand batteries for any camera you get. Don't buy knockoffs. I've wasted hundreds on cheap knockoffs that don't last longer than a year.
Now the camera, The EOS M50. I haven't personally used this one, but from what I saw in other reviewers, the autofocus works just as good as it does on my EOS R and 1Dx Mk2, when shooting in 1080. Even tho it says "4K shooting", this camera would not be a recommendation for 4k at all... stick with 1080 (which is what most vloggers do anyways...)
Anyways, there's what I would get. I think I kept the whole thing under $1,000 (that's literally the cheapest setup I would recommend anyways) We can connect on FB or IG, I'm willing to help you with anything on it if needed. Either messenger, or a video call if needed.

Do it this way so that the average dude could build one. But man, you should get yourself a welder set up for aluminum. Then sky’s the limit for your builds and will inspire more dudes to learn to weld aluminum too!

I really like the direction you take with your builds. I’m a DIY guy and I’ve been building boats on & off for over 30 years. I find some of your videos very very difficult to follow in terms of a diy video. Because I have been doing this so long, I can certainly replicate your power poles in this particular video but what about the people who are green to the whole boat building thing? They will never be able to follow. Maybe it’s just me. Thanks for doing what you do.
