- Chaos erupted outside the Roosevelt Hotel, which is currently serving as a migrant intake center, when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other House Democrats tried to hold a press conference to speak about the migrant crisis.
The Congressional representatives from New York, New Jersey, Texas, and Illinois were all taking a tour of the center and were there to weigh in on the NYC migrant crisis. FOX 5 NY's Morgan McKay reports.

LEGAL immigration is designed to prevent that by requiring that LEGAL immigrants have SPONSORS who agree to take financial responsibility for them.

When times are hard for the majority, we finally pay attention to the Left and their massive spending and open door policies. It's a sad and tragic situation for the migrants, but countries have to care for their own first before you can care for others. This is hard on everyone.

I have predicted this in my book titled "Roadmap to Haiti's Next Revolution" back in 2012. Elected authorities in tandem with the oligarchy in countries recipient of US dollars - (remittances sent abroad by immigrants)- that is nations with large recent immigrant population living in the US will not strive to create jobs but will give incentives for their population to leave their homelands and migrate to the United States since the more of their people they have living in the US the more money can be sent back to those recipient countries. Classic fleecing of America while undermining our economic stability. I am an immigrant by the way. I side with the "legal immigration only" crowd.

Two common arguments I see which make no sense (for much the same reason);
1) NYC took in more immigrants in the past (19th and early 20th centuries)
2) Speedy work permits will help the problem
NYC was rapidly expanding in the 19th/early 20th century during a less technologically-advanced time. Any able-bodied man (or woman) would have numerous relatively well paid opportunities. There was also nothing in the way of government assistance so financial cost to the city was far less of a factor. Modern NYC has already expanded to capacity land-wise and the few opportunities available to no/low skill workers (which will be the vast majority of migrants willing to work) pay a pittance. I'm not sure if anybody championing these permits have looked at the cost of living in 2023 NYC but the relatively few migrants who are able and/or willing to work will still need extensive financial help.
