- Protesters flooded a street on Staten Island, temporarily blocking a bus carrying asylum seekers after local leaders said they learned the community was chosen to house the city's latest migrant shelter. Scott LoBaido, a Staten Island resident and one of the protest organizers, joins “On Balance With Leland Vittert” to discuss the protest, saying, "You can’t bring in millions and millions and millions of young men of military age who have not been vetted or checked for pedophilia, rape, murder, viruses, diseases and plant them into this working community."

The difference was: they had to have a job & or a sponsor. They had to go through a medical screening process. They had to take & pass citizenship classes & learn English. Our taxes did not provide: housing, food, & medical. Immigrants had to be processed & pay for legalization procedures. They had to respect the communities they live in without demanding services. There was no amnesty in the early days. We have had 2 amnesties that never corrected the problem.

I love this guy! I'm not sure if gas produces enough heat required to make good pizza.
The issue is much more than illegal immigrants. Inflation is ridiculous, cost of living (rent, electricity, gas) is unreasonable, unaffordable insurance, job availability, and overcrowding. More people flooding into this country is depleting resources, causing longer lines, more traffic etc.. People are tired and beyond the breaking point. It's not just immigration. All four of my grandparents came here from Europe via Ellis Island, legally matriculating, obeying all the rules. They did not simply waltz across the border as they pleased. They were specifically invited and all were accounted for at the time.

You know what's baffling? I always dreamed of visiting places like Yosemite, the Smoking Mountains and Yellowstone. The legal immigration process is very difficult. Too much paperwork and bureaucracy. And still you can never be sure if you're going to get a tourist visa. But these people who claim to be "asylum seekers" they get a free pass in the US. I am Peruvian. Despite my country is the second worldwide producer of cocaine, our country never had the high criminality rate like currently we have. Why? I guess it is quite difficult to understand till the problem knock ( or slam ) on your door. I won't be happy if my township suddenly is full of migrants from the border that have lack of background checks, sleeping on the streets, lots of children walking on the way back home from school or having to share space in there with them. Back then when my grandfather came to the states, he never rely on the government but himself. This is a fact, 90% of those migrants are here for economic reasons so after asylum interview, their forms are going to be rejected, therefore they will remain illegal in the country, so all the money invested in them are a waste. No one, even Trump, have moved a finger to limit the limitless amount of migrants that can cross the border to seek asylum every day BY LAW not a silly and expensive wall.

And they have a very difficult job to do fighting crime. Look I've seen some of these migrants, you just walk past them they are not all over the streets even in Chicago, in all the tourist areas you dont see them at all . A few hotels, small old ones have some but you just don't walk down that way often and also they don't interact with anyone. Not one of these I have seen so far have begged for money. New laws certainly must be passed to stop anyone else coming into the country, the stay in Mexico policy needs to he implemented and their southern border shut down

Im a Black man and my youngest son attends a high school in Osceola county Florida. In one of his classes he is the only student who speaks English. Even the teacher conducts the class in Spanish. How is this fair to my son?
Is it an actual Spanish language class? If it's not then that sounds strange that an English speaking student is placed in a class of students who don't speak English. A more important question is why his parents don't go to the school and complain, cuz that's not right?
It's not a Spanish class and I have complained to the school administration. However, they have told me the school doesn't " discriminate." Also, there are many people in Osceola county who dont speak English.
