Great video Chris, I spent 8 days with my daughter back in June she is 30 and I’m 60 .... it was time that I won’t forget ! Her mom and I divorced when she was 9 she is an amazing young lady and I’m so proud of her . Thank you so much for sharing as I enjoy all your adventures 🇺🇸👍🏻
if you want to ride the Silverton train keep in mind it's an all day trip. 3+ hours up, and the same back. you can take a coach back to Durango if you want to shave some time off the return. it is a beautiful adventure though.
Well no one will ever be able to call you a fair weather camper. Wonderful the way you intertwined your current adventure with the time you spent with Cole. You're becoming quite the outdoor adventure videographer. I've tried to watch other channels of this type but no one does it quite as well as you do. Thanks for that.
Just returned from there doing the same thing with my 18 yr old daughter, (just graduated HS and going to college). We did Engineer Pass on Wed 7/28 and Imogene Pass from Ouray to Telluride on Friday 7/30. Got rained out and headed up to Boulder/Denver area for the weekend. Had a great time, wished we had crossed paths. We will have memories of this trip forever.
Many years ago while still living in Pennsylvania and just after my HS graduation, my dad and I took a trip to the southwestern mountains of Colorado to chase long abandoned narrow gauge railways once prevalent in that region. Wonderful area to explore and I have a lot of fond memories of that trip with dad. We didn’t have a 4WD vehicle at the time just a rental car, the next best “all terrain” vehicle… I’m sure Cole will remember your adventures together for years to come.
Thank you Chris for taking me to Silverton/Ouray and the 4x4 trails I’ve done so many times! I haven’t been able to visit my favorite Colorado mountains yet this year or last, Hope to make it soon! By the way, great to see Cole having a great time being with Dad, he will never forget that trip with you.
We enjoy your videos!! I have especially enjoyed this video. You have a wonderful delivery. We are catching up on the older videos and always try to see your recent videos. 😊😊
There’s something decidedly different with Chris when he gets to travel with Cole. That is a compliment to Cole and a resounding thumbs up to Chris. Cole-best wishes to you in your college experience! Thank you both for sharing your adventures!
The San Juan National Forest is absolutely beautiful. It's one of my favorite places to go exploring without a doubt. I am glad you got to spend some time with your son before he begins college.
Durango is my happy place! My daughter attended Ft. Lewis College from 2015-2019 and visiting her there a couple times a year changed my life and priorities. Durango is why I now own a Jeep, love to fish, and started snowboarding again. Enjoy!!!!
Best video! I lived in Durango late 90's- early 2000's. For all the years we lived in Durango when we went to Silverton we drove, and even though we never took the train it passed my home every day. I have two daughters living in Durango with there families. Many Thanks for the good footage as it bring back many memories. BTW nice to see Cole again and looking to meeting Shannon.
I really like this adventuring in the jeep mixed with a bit of backpacking. I use my Jeep/Ursa Minor as a base camp for backpacking trips and so this type of adventure really in your videos really appeals to me.
Another great video Chris. Makes me homesick for Durango and the San Juan Mountains. I used to work at the City Market in North Durango 😎 Looks like you and Cole had a great time.
Great video, I liked the way you mixed to 2 trips (this weeks video with the video of your trip with Cole). Funny thing,, I was in Leadville the same time you were. I camped at Turquoise Lake, drove there from East Texas.
That was a good little adventure and having the two weeks with your son on your own that's even better my great trip was with my son back in 2009 we get a road trip to the Yukon that was the best best trip I've had with one of my boys cherish the time you have with your son they grow awfully fast and they go their own ways. 👍👍😀🇨🇦
Great change for a grilled cheese sandwich. I'll be giving it a try within the next day or two, although I won't be cooking on the toilet. Thanks for showing everyone how to do it.
Glad you're back, Chris, and I hope you had a wonderful time with your son. The memories y'all make together will last him long after you're gone. So...any chance you'll ever be leaving that part of the world for say... somewhere else? Like in a forest, with trees, and no sandstone, or high desert 🏜️? I hear northern Canada is beautiful this time of year. You've shared a bunch of beautiful scenery with us from that part of the world over the past...year. Maybe time for somewhere else? Please?
“This is fine” the dejected moment of realisation that a dehydrated meal is actually an upgrade on your culinary creations 🤣 Love your work and your cooking Chris!
Hi Chris! Its Indian Joe touching base after meeting you and Cole at the Old 100 Mine. I'm in Tupelo tonight, making my way back to Atlanta on the Indian. It was fantastic chance meeting yourself and Cole at the mine the other day, and seeing Orangie in person was really cool, especially after watching you on RUclips for the last few years. Anyway, keep up the great work on your videos, and I am looking forward to meeting you again sometime on the next big adventure outdoors!! Indian Joe
HI CHRIS 👋 GLAD YOU COUPLE OF WEEKS WERE AWESOME WITH YOUR SON & GOT TO VISIT MANY INTERESTING PLACES TOGETHER ❤ BREATHTAKING BEAUTY VIEWS COLORS SCENERY VIDEO WEATHER / EVEN THOUGH IT WAS RAINING 🌧. 🌧 TOO ! THE MUSHROOMS 🍄 WERE BEAUTIFUL ! DID YOU TAKE YOUR BEAR 🐻 👀 SPRAY ON YOUR HIKE ? JUST INCASE YOU CAME ACROSS A 🐻 , MOUNTAIN LION , WOLF 🐺 , ETC ? I FIGURED IT SHOULD HELP ANYONE OF THEM , EVEN A BAD HUMAN BEING ! THE CAMPSITE LOOKED REALLY NICE & THE CREEK NEXT TO IT TOPPED IT OFF . BE SAFE ! HAVE FUN ! GOD BLESS YOU ALL ALWAYS ON 🙏 YOUR JOURNEYS / TRAVELS & COLLEGE TOO ! ENJOYED 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 🍨 THANK YOU 🙏
amazing vid Chris . Excellent narration and camera work . Love this style of vid . One of your best … there was So much to see . U looked soo relaxed . thank you for sharing once again ! Alan . Ottawa Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I finally ditched the thermacell like yours for the "Backpacker" version that just uses normal isobutane tanks. Way cheaper than buying the proprietary thermacell butane cartridges.
Many hikers are under the impression that UL hiking is concerned with shaving ounces and grams from the pack . . . another point of view says it's all about the "Ultra-Luxe" you carry (no doubt that inflatable kayak would have made an appearance, had there been an opportunity to put in along the way!).
There's something satisfying about seeing low pressure tires crunching over terrain.
I thought the same
Great video Chris, I spent 8 days with my daughter back in June she is 30 and I’m 60 .... it was time that I won’t forget ! Her mom and I divorced when she was 9 she is an amazing young lady and I’m so proud of her . Thank you so much for sharing as I enjoy all your adventures 🇺🇸👍🏻
The San Juan's are probably the best of the Colorado Rockies. Every time I go down that way I am absolutely blown away.
Chris, I love that you throw backpacking into the mix. It really shows that adventure to you is more than just vehicle bound travel.
if you want to ride the Silverton train keep in mind it's an all day trip. 3+ hours up, and the same back. you can take a coach back to Durango if you want to shave some time off the return.
it is a beautiful adventure though.

Same . Once of his best videos .
my fav channel is ringing again, always a joy to watch adventure 4wd
Where have you been? I was worried about you. OK No worries. Time with son. That's good to hear.
He explained at the end of his last video that he was taking time away to visit his son.
Chris talked about it @1:56.
The best thing will be seeing your son getting out and exploring/following in your footsteps in a couple of years.
amazing job with video and editing ...so clear and amazing views
Hey thanks for taking time and have some phots with my family in Ouray :)
Just returned from there doing the same thing with my 18 yr old daughter, (just graduated HS and going to college). It's great to see you back Chris.
Hopefully you had a wonderful time with Cole and the rest of your family.
Cole looks like he is ready for a life of adventure. Keep exploring!

The sunny dry areas of NM with that arch was amazing. A nice break from the cooler wet weather. 🥰🌵🏜️☀️

Welcome back, Chris. Glad you had a nice visit with your son. I'm sure he'll do fine in college.
Tom and Lisa at the Silverton funnel cake shop are wonderful people! I also had the salted caramel funnel cake today for my birthday!

Great change for a grilled cheese sandwich. I'll be giving it a try within the next day or two, although I won't be cooking on the toilet. Thanks for showing everyone how to do it.
Another element of surprising delicious is to use mayo instead of butter or oil on the outside bread. Grills up just fine and a snick different.
It was awesome running it to you, Cole and Shannon up on Kendall Mountain in Silverton. That was our last day of vacation in the San Juans.
Wow, that train and coal mine tour reminds me so much of Strasburg, PA and the Pioneer Coal Mine tour in Ashland.
A great video as always Chris. So glad you spent your time with Cole.

An actual sighting of the “white elephant“? Who would’ve thought….

I just noticed that you have a Texas inspection sticker on your windshield
