How to Make SHOPSKA SALAD | The Most Famous Bulgarian Salad

- The Shopska Salad is the most famous and signature Bulgarian salad. In 1950 Bulgaria was known as the Vegetable Garden of Europe and the recipe for this salad was made to represent that. It’s arranged in layers like a pyramid and topped with the famous Bulgarian Sirene Cheese also known as Bulgarian Feta. The finished salad shows the layers white, green and red, which are the colors of the Bulgarian National flag. Every visitor and tourist falls in love with the Bulgarian cuisine and the Shopska Salad is one of the best known and loved Bulgarian dishes. Enjoy!
Ingredients for two servings:
1 roasted red bell pepper (it has to be red)
2 tomatoes
½ English cucumber
½ yellow onion
Bulgarian feta (or Greek feta)
Fresh parsley to taste
Vegetable oil and vinegar to taste

I got addicted to this salad when I lived in Chicago. Unfortunately, I don't have access to Sirene cheese anymore. No other cheese matches it and makes the salad not need anything else besides the vegetables! Thank you so much for the demonstration!
I'm so sorry you can't find the cheese. The only other stores I have found it in are Armenian stores.
You can try Greek feta as well. It's not the same but close enough.
