New! Duromax 13000 Backfires and ruins itself. Fixed!!!!!

- This is a brand new out of the box duromax generator that isnt right. It started backfiring right out of the box. This ruins the stepper motor for the choke. WHich makes the choke quit working. It all just gets worse from there. This is it and the fix.
Having the same issue have replaced the spark plug just waiting on a back ordered carburetor. Thanks to reassuring me with this video I feel confident with the new spark plug and carb my problem will be solved 🎉
We're glad the spark plug our Tech Department suggested fixed the issue. Starting at the end of 2023 all DuroMax generators are now assembled with NGK 7131 BPR6ES Nickel Spark Plugs.
I just purchased one from Home Depot, it's backfiring like crazy on propane and the spark plug is Torch F6TC....
Thank you Sir, I just confirmed that the backfiring killed the stepper motor on mine as you showed in the video. I don't really have faith in this generator anymore as it seems it's reliability depends on some tiny, plastic teeth... Will be returning to Home Depot for another brand at this point, very disappointing.

Weird how the automatic choke solution used to be a flap in the fan's air flow that would overcome a spring holding the choke closed. Or a bimetallic strip that was calibrated for the temperature. Know how many of those I've seen fail? Zero.

having the choke electronic is dumb anyways, make it like plenty of small engines have been where its attached to the governor and throttle assembly
Totally agree. I'm working on converting one of these replacement carburetors over to a manual set up. Trying to figure it out now. I'll make it into a video once I get it done.
