    Is there a way to see the location of a part of the graph that has no data point? Often times I want to find the distance between a data point and a place that doesn't have a data point.

    How do I make it so the labels I select in the cells as you did only show up when my cursor rolls over the data point? I have a scatter plot with a lot of points and I only want to see the label when I roll over that specific point similar to how you showed the coordinates show up on the roll over but I want to see my label instead.

    There is no option for " value from cells" on my excel. Are they just different versions? Or was this option removed?

    Hello! How can I change the name of the point without having to show a data label? For example, when I hover over point 3, the little textbox will read out "1" as the name of the point?

    I've got loads of data entries which makes it difficult for me to label the data point as it will just be a massive mess of writing bunched together to make one large black circle in my graph. Is there a way for me to change the point name when I hover over it so that I can see the name of any outliers without having to give it a visible label name?

    Hi Sir,
    Thank you for the great video!
    What if I want to see the ID only if I click on a determined point?
    Thank you

      I don't know of a way except for using an Excel add-in, such as www.tushar-mehta.com/excel/software/chart_hover_label/index.html

    This is unfortunately not helpful. I have a scatter plot with nearly 1,000 points in it and I need a way of selecting the specific X and Y values in the columns of data that were used to create the chart such that the specific point those two numbers create in the chart is highlighted.

    hi do you have a way to calculate the shortest distance between the line of best and a point?

    • @aaronmorgan1879
      @aaronmorgan1879 7 лет назад

      i know how to do this manually by putting the point into an equation with slope/1 then calculating b then using the distance formula but life is too short

    • @BurkeyAcademy
      @BurkeyAcademy  7 лет назад

      Sure- by "distance" in stats we normally mean the difference between the y value predicted by the line of best fit and the actual y value- we write this as (yi-yhat). When you add trendlines you can select "add equation to chart" and use this equation to calculate the yhat (predicted value) for each observation of X, and calculate the difference.
