- Milwaukee Tools NEW USB Rechargeable Flashlights HAVE A MAJOR FLAW! In this video we show the #verycoolgang a major flaw with new Milwaukee tools USB rechargeable red lithium flashlights! We unbox and test two new USB rechargeable flashlights from Milwaukee that have 800 lumens and also 1100 lumens. Each of these USB rechargeable flashlights are waterproof and drop resistant, they are also extremely well built. The major flaw with these two new flashlights from Milwaukee is not very noticeable at first but once you see the flaw you will be shocked. Let us know your thoughts on these new Milwaukee USB rechargeable red lithium flashlights in the comments section below.
Hey Vince! Here you go again saving the day and giving us all the information...even if Milwaukee doesn't print it. Bigger question bro, are you going to do the same submersion test with the charging port closed? I think it's a must! Keep bringing us the info & deals!
That’s a good point, should probably do a follow up
Yeah, I agree. We need to know if twisting that section of the flashlight closed over the charging port will actually keep water out or not.
TO BE CONTINUED......
yeah....that is a good idea 👍 😅
Great bad ass vid!!!! Thx Vince!!!!
@Reid Kolton no, nobody here has any interest in installing your malware. Go get a real job and have some respect for yourself and those who raised you.
I’m so glad I watched this video. I just bought one last week, had no idea there was a cover for the charging port. It will stay covered now.
I'm a huge flashlight nut, aka flashaholic. :-D
I have numerous Milwaukee lights. The best thing about their lights is the LED they use. It produces a natural light very close to incandescent with good color rendition. This is especially important for HVAC techs and mechanics that need good CRI for wiring, etc.
My first LED light was a keychain light, it was amber and this was 1982. Blue LEDs didn't come out until the late 80s and white LEDs 10 years later. And even then those were quite horrible color wise!
My favorite Milwaukee light is the M18 fuel search/spotlight with the swivel head. Don't let its rating fool you @700 lumens! It throws them on spot mode. Using at night out the window of a work truck people think you work for the power company or law enforcement! I can spot a deer over 200 yards no problem. (observing, NOT hunting! LOL)
The AAA pen light is nice but seems to eat batteries.
The USB lights are nice but be sure to keep them charged before a big job.
My newest one is the swivel head that is both flood and spot with a strong magnet on the back.
Always look out for them on sale @HD. The last one was $79 and on sale for $49 July 4 weekend!
I also have lights from O-Light, Nitecore, Surefire, Arc Flashlight, Maglight, Brinkman, Microfire (HID), Fenix, Imalent, Tekna, Streamlight and many others.
A man can never have too many flashlights and chainsaws! :-D
@cpufrost I have an 800 lumin that I keep getting a flashing red and green ring on..I have to tap it on something or take the battery out and put it back in to get it to work. I was really careful with it and maybe dropped it once or twice. Any ideas why I'm having this issue?
@@PsychKingler Check the contacts on the battery and make sure they are clean. The battery or contacts may have been damaged from the fall. Try another battery to rule out just battery fault/damage.
Just purchased the 1100 lumens version from Home Depot. I think they took your advice. The USB door was closed inside the packaging. 👍
Thinking back on it when mine came I think the door was closed. I never looked at the instructions I can't think of how else I would have known to rotate it. Either way theese flashlights are sick!! Milwaukees personal lighting lineup is just on a whole other level then the competition!
Milwaukee lights are the best I got 2 of each for my tool bags. Long as there’s a magnet on them bad boys to stick on the side of a unit Golden
I have the M12 flashlight and I love it. Perfect for the attic and crawl space. Has a hook on it that is great for hanging from anywhere. Milwaukee tools are the best
Awesome
I have the M12 that has the pivot head. i have used that flash light more than any other I ever owned. Basically because it's hard to loose. It has an excellent large pool of bright light, I bought two of them and leave one in my truck and one in the house. I still know where they both are, knock on wood. They are not perfect, but they are damn good.
The mag light was a true light weapon combo
No. No. No. it was a dna sample collector. Lol.
In the 80's maybe lol nowadays they have keychain lights that are brighter than the big d cell battery mag lights. And the ones that are big enough could be a weapon throw a beam a mile long
@@j.turner7487 🤣🤣🤣
I have a big ass modern LED light that's shaped and weighted like a baseball bat. Super bright spot beam too. I keep it nearby to weird out solicitors that wander down the wrong private road. "Uhh, why's that guy pointing and shining that baseball bat at us in the middle of a sunny day"?
Sometimes I'll kick it up a notch and grab a mostly empty bottle of whiskey and carry that out there with me and the Batlight. It's the simple things in life that can bring joy.. 😁👍
@@jdisdetermined were can I get one
Im a flashlight newbie..I've been using my flashlight in the low setting for 3 weeks ...I was literally mind blown when I held the button down. Subscribed!!
Hi !!!
I had the problem about where should I plug this to recharge it (the recharge port was covered), and same thing, the manuals didn't say anything about to twist that part of the flash light to uncover the port !!!
Thank you for your video, now I know what to do !!!
Glad the video helped
Thanks for this video!!! I just purchased the 1100 lumen one and didn’t even know about the cover for the charging port!!
Hello Vince I'm a new subscriber here. After unwrapping this flashlight and inspecting it and going through it's operation or functionality, I observed from the very beginning the little USB symbol on the side of opposite of the button. However, just like you, nowhere did I read or observe within the instructions or on the flashlight itself that I had to rotate the black plastic cover that gives you access to the USB Charging Port. It took me 20 minutes to locate and gain access to the USB Charging Port. 20 minutes of my life I can't get back. Damn you Milwaukee!!!
Great review. Gonna purchase the 800 lumen soon for my son. Gotta get him addicted to bright lights like dad!😀👍
Thanks for the very useful info. I purchased the 800 lumen light last week. Didn’t even know about the twist cover.
Lolz, your excitement for a flash light is contagious, all of a sudden I want to go get a flash😂
I use their tools and I love the m18 rocket, but for edc I wouldn’t use a cigar light. It’s a nice form factor to strap to a rifle, but for lighting up a personal area to look for something I dropped, or to help me clean or fix something, I use a right angle light I can set up or a compact work light which swivels
Thank you so much i was getting ready to buy one this helped so much!! Appreciate it thanks!
One of the best tool companies that offer and honor warranty... hands down
O-light makes a better flashlight... Thanks for the video 😎👍
Just bought two of the 2161-21 1100 lumen flashlights and the instructions for each include the wording for twisting the cover to expose the USB port to charge the battery. Second item called "Charging the Battery" under heading of "Light" Instruction 2
I am a Milwaukee fan, I love the fact that you spill the good bad and ugly. Thanks for the info. Keep it coming!
The actual LED "bulb" is guaranteed for life. I love how you don’t have to register products with them. I recently burned up an m18 hammer drill that was 3 years old. They replaced it no questions asked! Milwaukee always for the win!
specifically what combination of words are used for granted replacements with milwaukee?! id appreciate you. i personally have been turned down even w registered tool and the receipt. i know how to get similar results w Dewalt. help me help you help us! i need this help. single dad 3 girls cant finish their room due to needing M18 warranty help they wont offer?
@@jaredstone9487 I had zero problems. I looked up authorized drop off facility on their website and took it there. They shipped it to Milwaukee and Milwaukee shipped a brand new one back. No fancy words or anything required.
FLAHLIGHTS, KNIVES AND TOOLS....LOTS AND LOTS!!!!! I'M A ADDICT!!!!! AS ALWAYS THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK FOR US AND I SO DEEPLY APPRECIATE THE CONTENT!!! WHEN YOU RECOMEND SOMETHING, I BUY!!!! YOUR ALWAYS ALWAYS DEAD ON,ALWAYS!!!!!!
As always, thank you for you reviews.
Glad you like them!
@VCG Construction. Thanks Vince for the PSA on these new Milwaukee flashlights. I'd hate to think that Milwaukee has some former Apple people working for them where they think everything is "intuitive" so no explanation is needed or we have to go to a Milwaukee store and have one of their "geniuses" explain the neat features including twisting the cap to close off the USB port. Like you said, we gotta be careful twisting things cause sometimes things break when they're not meant to be twisted. I'm sure you're the first to get this flaw on Milwaukee's radar and I hope Milwaukee gets the word out ASAP.
Hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Thanks C !
I'm a huge fan of Milwaukee lights so I was super stoked to see the review .
Subbed actually .
Milwaukee need to be more clear , they could have just painted an arrow or something , the rnd department must have spend quite some time and effort to produce an nice product , and then they just ommit that , that's a shame really !
Keep in mind most of your flashlights now will have USB C recharging capabilities which recharges much quicker and efficiently. For the cost of these I would look at Fenix, or other compatible brand, especially if these lights are not utilizing the Milwaukee battery platform. Thanks!
Holy crap! I don’t get mine wet but was thinking that’s kind of dumb because dirt can get in there. Thanks!
I just bought this light, love it! I luckily actually found out about the USB cover by accident!🤣🤘
You are a savage bro! Tell milwaukee how quality should be performed 👌
I’m laughing sooo hard at 17:25😂🤣😂. Great job on helping us out on keeping us informed. 👍👍
Appreciate the USB cover information. Damn good to know.
Hey Vince, just saw this video. So funny, thank you for not editing the mistakes in AI artificial intelligence or AI stands for aluminum on the periodic table or the charging port mishap. Lord knows I have done things like this myself to my tools. Love your show.
I own the compact. It took literally 1 second of inspection to see the collar 😅
Haha ditto
Hi Vince, thank you again for your awesome videos. Watching you videos got me into tools..
Nice to see the VCG approaching 300,000 well-deserved subs 👍🏽 Great expose' on poor literature/owner's manual, always telling us straight, great review Vince, like the memes as well, next level. Reminded me of a Scotty Kilmer vid.
Thanks Cardo ! 👍🏻
That video clip of that guy getting his mind blown was hilarious.
Maglite is the "Blockbuster" of flashlights. Resting on your laurels while the world passes you by. Sláinte
Resting on your Nissan laurels?
Maglites are a bit dated, now a days you can get a light like 2 inches long that puts out atleast 10 times the brightness. I remember when those big d mag lights were the best my have things evolved.
Thanks for the additional info.
Great information Vin. You would think Milwaukee would supply that info. Thanks again.
Thanks Larry! 👍🏻
If u want a good light choose Olight. A bit pricey but well worth it when working in dark places
just bought one of these thanks for the review
Thanks for the heads up.👍👍💯💯
Aside from that seriously thank you for teaching me this about my flashlight I have owned this last night for two months and never knew that you save me a great headache thank you thank you thank you sir for sharing the knowledge
As always great video and thank you for the information
Dosen't look like there is a protective rubber cover over the charging ports
Coming in 2021 the VCG Special Edition Milwaukee Wireless Charging Flashlights! lol
Great review and nice catch. I will definitely be picking up a couple of these bad boys. Can never have too many flashlights around especially rechargeable ones. Will pair well with my usb solar battery pack for emergencies.
I literally come to you’re videos before I buy anything anymore 🤣 thanks so much for all the reviews 👍🏼
I love Milwaukee...but when it comes to lighting STREAMLIGHT is so far the best in my opinion...they're very compact, very durable solid steel case, micro usb recharge port, some magnetic, w/belt/shirt/cap clips, very bright LED's, and have replacement parts available if too damaged from work abuse 😍
I have a stream light that’s 600 lumens and would still blow these lights away and run longer plus it’s smaller
Whoaah, I had no idea it twists like that. Thanks, Vince! I've been testing this flashlight out for a few weeks now and glad I saw this. This 1100L flashlight is my new go-to!
Thanks Mark, we appreciate it! 👍🏻
Just watched this (late) but planning to get one of these flashlights now (I have many Milwaukee flashlights). An added suggestion to your shipping the charging port closed, would be to etch an "IP67" logo at the closed position of the 'little dot' and well as the charging logo for 'Open'.
Awesome review brother, good thing I watched this video. I recently purchased the 1100lumen usb flash light. That was one of my concerns. 👊🏼👍🏼💯
I learned out about the charger going in the job box and the batteries going flat in the bottom to take up less space
So, the only problem is missing information in product manual?
Thanks for the review I just bought the 1100 lumens light and was wondering the same thing about the charging port
Milwaukee needs to pay this guy. You just saved them millions by explaining this flaw.
Tnks for the best information.
You save me day .
Thx for the info! Think they should have done a better write up to let everyone know. It’s not common sense to know to do that... especially if you are not someone that uses these types of flashlights 🔦 thx again 😊
Try it again in the cup of water with the cover over the usb and see if water get into it and does the same thing. Was interested in buying the 1100.
Its a great light! If you're on the fence about it I would say it's worth the 70 bucks. But I love a nice flashlight 🔦 an extra battery and charger is next for me
@VGC Construction awsome video. I got a bunch of there head lights flashlights for my guys and me and was going to get the 1100 one of those this week. There awsome but I like a pocket light for me better for inspection You saved me from trying to put some kind of make shift plug or tape over it. If I would just put spin in white letters on there that’s all they wood need to do
👍🏻
Not sure if I would have purchased it given the price, but yea, I am pretty sure I would NEVER have thought to twist that to close it.
when you said that they told you that it wasn't in the literature the little light bulb went off and I figured it out, but without your video never in a million years.
they need to change the instruction manual and they can also write open and closed up there to make it a bit more obvious because I am not one to read instructions to begin with
Great review. Great follow through.
I have a mini mag lite and I like it a lot.
Thanks for the heads up on the light.
I'm impressed. especially 1100 lumen flashlight milwaukee has great stuff. if it's good enough for construction workers it's good for me.
hey Vince long time viewer pretty sure first time commenting...so when I spend that kind of money I like to watch videos on a product and well sadly I didn't watch it all the way through ya ya I know im stupid but well I had to rewatch your video to see how to charge my new flash light...they now ship it with the door closed apparently and I couldn't find where to plug it in..just thought you wanted a laugh on my expense thanks for making the video and next time ill be sure to watch it all the way through
Glad to hear they made the change
@vcgconstruction. I think the tail cap button is more functional and prevents unwanted activation. Also easier to find than being on the side as the older alkaline ones are.
Glad I watched this before I bought one. Appreciate it !
Glad I could help!
Get the streamlight. Amazing light with great output, runtime and reliability, plus some are certified for hazardous environment.
I just bought the 800 lumen. They are shipping them with the charge port closed now. Seems like a decent flashlight.
It's "Al" for Aluminum instead of "Ai" for Artificial Inteligence. It's the Element symbol
It means fighting chicken in Spanish
🤣
Whoosh!
Naw, I like Ai 😉
Gustavo, you must be new around here. Vince was joking 🤣
Thanks for the heads up
You should get a olight s1r baton 2
Excellent video! Thanks for the info since I want the light!
Yo Vince, Great video went to the HD and they had the 325 lums for clearance 27 bucks I had to snatch it and it was bc of your video, I have many usb so getting a battery was good deal for me awesome thanks so much they had a few left!!!!!!!! VCG all the way!!
Thank You Vince. Your Videos Are Greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
Hey vince, I love tools and through that love I have also found a love for flashlights. There are a ton of 18650, 18350, 21700 etc. cell flashlights out there coming mainly from china that are smaller, cheaper and/or brighter with more options and settings. I will say this there is a huge convenience by being able to go to the big box store and purchase 1,100 lumens. But would you ever consider trying out one of those? they're not the easiest to find online but i think they are well worth it.
Brian F Its a bit more than that. Yeah you have a point but if you search 18650 led flashlight on amazon you don’t get the best options. Also not many know what to look for. When your talking to people who think 100 lumens is a lot, it’s really hard to tel them to ditch the double a batteries and use an 18650. Also I didn’t know 18650s were even in flashlights till the end of 2019 and I didn’t buy my first one till summer of 2020.
Brian F I think the wurrkos fc11 is a good starting light. Sofirn makes some good lights as well all around the 30 filler range.
The USB C standard includes waterproof versions of the socket. A plug would be nice additional safety but there are a number of waterproof flashlights and phones on the market with exposed sockets
Thanks Vince.
Thanks for the video. The REAL major flaw with this unit is that it does not come with an adapter/converter/inverter/whatever for recharging the battery. The Milwaukee heated gloves come with one, but not this great light - very disappointing.
I have used many flashlight at my work: from noname chinese up to expensive german LedLenser. Currently I'm using Milwaukee 2113 USB rechargeable pivoting flashlight IP54 rated and I really love it. It is more useful and robust comparing to other I had before.
P.S. in my opinion, the twisted section of shown flashlight will not fully protect USB-port from water penetration.
Good catch, great review! I think it’s still a solid light. I’d buy it. 👍🏻
Thanks ZZ ! 👍🏻
Picking one up today. Glad I watched this first!
could that clip be a anymore accurate reaction😯🤯. thx for that info saved my light before I plunged into some H20✌🏽..
Left C cells in a maglight for to long. I had to pound the swollen batteries out and pour a little soda in it several times. The soda removed corrosion (good on automotive battery terminals too). Wiped it out and good to go.
I just got it is awesome ,but no like that the end cap dsnt have a hole to put a lanyard!
I watched this review before I was going out to purchase this flashlight and I’m glad you covered the “trick” cause until you showed it I was contemplating buying something else for that exact reason
Excellent!
Users are not stupid!
Your not stupid
I dislike being stupid
I had to look youtube to find out how to close the usb door. In my case, i couldn't open it. You are right: they have NO instructions for it.
and if you look closely around the USB port it has a rubber gasket it's very very hard to see but it has it so when it is closed it makes contact with that piece that turns
Looks nice but Fenix is my go to
🤦♂️ wow they need some better product testing. I think they need to send you all of their new products before rolling out production!
Even if they just put an arrow showing to twist it --> and maybe a 💧 symbol or "close" on it. But your solution works well for already made products.
I agree, an arrow would have helped
Little tip for vcg crew use alkaline in stuff you use constantly ie tv remote, use lithium in other things you dont use that often they are less likely to leak and is better for constant changes in weather. Also I noticed alkaline tends to dim more over time
I avoid using Alkaleaks. They have destroyed more of my electronics/flashlights/headlamps than any other cause. I now generally use hybrid batteries (e.g. eneloop) in AA & AAA sizes. I also keep some long life Energizer lithium batteries around. I think that now though I am going to go with using hybrid batteries even in my smoke detectors that take AA and just charge them periodically. I tried that in one so far with success. I need to get more hybrid batteries though. By the way I have had Duraleaks leak in the package years before the "expiration" date, so although the constant use (presumably fresh batteries) tip might help, one can still have problems.
I use Milwaukee for just about every power tool, but Olight makes the best high end flashlights for the money. As long as you get em on a flash sale
The housing around the usb spins to make it water proof.
This was a great video and I am sure that a lot of people will benefit from it
Thank you for such an amazing review!
My question is in the materials over the closed USB port. Is it simply a metal ring, or does the port become completely insulated using a rubber cover or similar?
Mine did the same thing and quit working and has not started back. Its a major flaw, mine was the pivot head and had the rubber seal and barely went in water at the beach.
I bought the 1100 lums , is amazing
