i agree with you but for some reason, there's some confusion regarding its greatness. By that I mean the following: despite being the number one song on Billboard's Hot 100 for 2 consecutive weeks in early november, it failed to make its way onto Billboard's 1962 year-end top 100 hits. (BTW, the Crystals' single, "Uptown", made it to #72 in their year-end top 100. Additionally, "Rebel" did not appear in the 1963 edition of Billboard's Top 100 - i thought they may have catalogued it for 1963 bc it was still selling a few copies in '63-- i was mistaken).
Here's the wikipedia link documenting Billlboard's screw-up (coincidentally, they also snubbed the 4 Season's "Big Girls Don't Cry", the song that replaced "Rebel" at the top of the Billboard chart in mid November):

Spector could've lived anywhere in the world, but in L.A. that usually means Malibu, Bel Air, affluent neighborhoods for the rich and famous, but the fact that he chose to live in Alhambra (a regular working class neighborhood) as his home was kinda strange. It was there where the murder of Lana Clarkson took place. Even stranger is the home is a hilltop castle above a regular neighborhood. Pyrenees Castle

See the way he walks down the street
Watch the way he shuffles his feet
My, he holds his head up high
    When he goes walking by
    He’s my guy
When he holds my hands, I’m so proud
‘Cause he’s not just one of the crowd
Why is he always be the one
To try the things they’ve never done?
Just because of that, they say:
“He’s a rebel and he’ll never ever be any good
He’s a rebel ‘cause he never ever does what he should”
But just because he doesn’t do what everybody else does
That’s no reason why I can’t give him all my love
    He’s always good to me
    Always treats me tenderly
‘Cause he’s not a rebel, no, no, no
He’s not a rebel, no, no, no, to me
If they don’t like him that way
They won’t like me, I’m sure, today
I’ll be standing right by his side
    When they say:
“He’s a rebel and he’ll never ever be any good
He’s a rebel ‘cause he never ever does what he should”
But just because he doesn’t do what everybody else does
That’s no reason why we can’t share love
    He’s always good to me
Good to him, I’ll try to be
‘Cause he’s not a rebel, no, no, no
He’s not a rebel, no, no, no, to me

According to Darlene's book Phil was working at Liberty records and heard the demo of "He's A Rebel" by Vikki Carr and thought he could really do something with it with the Crystals! Liberty was getting ready to release Vikki's version so Phil had to hurry and get the recording done and out fast! Problem was that the Crystals were in NY and HE in LA so he asked his then partner(Lester Sill) thus the name of the label PHIL LES if he knew of a strong vocal singer that could record in a hurry! Lester contacted Darlene and asked her and to bring her group to do the session! Darlene agreed but wanted triple scale to do it! It was agreed she would get triple scale which then was $3000! So it is Darlene Fanita James and Jack Nitzche's wife Garcia on Rebel! Darlene knew Phil was going to put the Crystals name on it and didn't care for as far as she was concerned this was just another recording session for the Blossoms and has said she didn't even care for the song that it was just another teenage anthem so she didn't care who's name was on it but not knowing how big a hit this would become and the fact that the world would now know the name Phil Spector! It wasn't until after she recorded Rebel that she was told she was gonna get her name credited to the next Crystals single "He's Sure the Boy I Love" but that's when Phil backed out on putting her name on the label and still continued to use the Crystals name and that's when things heated between Phil and Darlene!

Why all the exclamation points after EVERY sentence?

      Who cares!

    • @Beaglemaster3
      @Beaglemaster3 3 года назад

@@stjohnbaby I don't care either. Just trying to understand the 'rationale' behind it. Grammar guides say the exclamation point should be used sparingly, as it “indicates extreme pain, fear, astonishment, anger, disgust, or yelling.”.
When's the last time you saw someone compose a paragrah of 12 sentences and put an exclamation point after every sentence? Probably never. lol

Amazing song " Phil Spector " was a genius !!...When I listen to all his songs it makes me feel so in love with a person that doesn’t exist in real life. aahhh ❤️The words in the song I feel them on a spiritual level.."spiritual high" --> Be my Baby..make me have nostalgia....of a world that is long gone
...now we live in sick society with sick enslavement "Nazi government". --- > fuckk
The good olds day gone forever.

Les Paul had demonstrated to the world that Spector's old fashioned recording techniques were already outmoded...some like in 1949! But Spector did it his way with multiple intstrumentalists in a small room instead of multiple images on tape, which is how the way the world has been recording everything.
