Floor at 50% is still better that most other singers at 100%. She's just incredible.
She is such a goddess. Only her can be super sick and still sound awesome. Long Live Floor!❤
Every Nightwish song is a story. Not just a song. Thanks for Tuomas.
Elvenjig , originally called "Jigs", is a song Troy brought with him from a former band , Iona. Elvenpath is the first song on the first album, Angels Fall First in 1997. The first spoken part is the intro on the album. The 1st album was recorded with Tarja, Tuomas, Emppu , and Jukka. Emppu played guitar and bass in studio. Album was meant to be a demo, but the label they signed with took it as is and released it.
Found a common Nightwish reaction song you haven't done yet, "I Want My Tears Back" from the Buenos Aires 2018 concert (2019 Decades DVD).
Plus you haven't checked out Tarja(except 1 combo video with Floor) or Anette. For Tarja , try "The Siren" or their cover of "Phantom of the Opera" from the 2005 Helsinki concert (End of an Era DVD). For Anette, the music video for "Amaranth" is a good start.
Great info about early Nightwish, thank you!
In the video of Floor reacting to her self singing "Ghost Love Score" she talks about how sick she was at this show in Bogota .
For some reason this song has gone under my radar. Also interesting that they started with ancient Finnish king of the forest Tapio (bear) and his wife Mielikki and ended with the Lord of the Rings knowing how much influence Finnish mythology had on Tolkien when writing Lord of the Rings.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_influences_on_Tolkien
I wonder if Tuomas had thought of it to have those as beginning and the end although they are probably not directly linked.
One of my favorites, from start to finish it is magically perfect.
Keep on trucking GP!
Doing good
I prefer the Buenos Aires 2018 version of Elvenjig-Elvenpath, it was just a week before this one and Floor is visible more energetic. The whole BA 2018 concert was pehomenal, so much they released it as a CD/BlueRay called "Decades: Live in Buenos Aires". You reacted to a couple songs from that one (Dead Boy's Poem & Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean), trust me, there's a lot more to digg from that one. Cheers from... well... Buenos Aires!! ;-)
More Nightwish magic, they have it in abundance - and I agree 100% about Lord of the Rings, there are many pretenders but none come close, a bit like Nightwish actually 🤘
As Floor described in an interview, that morning she had no voice and was running a fever. She loaded up on meds and went out on stage.
Elvenpath, the first nigtwish song I heard while sitting on the steps of the cottage. That's when I realized that the missing piece of my life was there. And still is!
🤘😁🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯👍
Always keep your Audio Sound on this lewel 🔛🔝🔊🤘
This was the very first song on their first full record written by Tuomas as a young songwriter. He was into fantasy obviously.
GP42, regarding the inspiration for the songs, this one clearly is inspired by nature. Elvenpath is a real word in English, path of the river, and elven itself suggests to the Nordic mythology. JRR Tolkien was a big fan of that. In addition, Tuomas may have found inspiration to these two songs where Lord of the Rings was partially filmed: Norway, close to the Nightwish origin, Finland.
This is an interesting clip for various reasons - but one of them is Floor explaining just how ill she was on the day of this performance. ruclips.net/video/QW_3F186_5Q/видео.html
Tuomas get's his inspiration out of almost anything. But very often out of books or movies.
You should absolutely listen to "A lifetime of adventure", written by Tuomas after reading a strip book about scrooge McDuck.
His wife Joanna is doing the vocals and it features Don Rosa in the video, the official cartoonist at Disney who has been drawing Scrooge McDuck for ages.
🤗🍒🤘🏻 well done again gp
If you are Lord of the rings, Bilbo e.t.c. fan, check the "Silmarion" if you haven't did it already :)
The first time I heard the spoken LOTR words in Elvinpath. I recognized them, as I had just recently re-watched the old Ralph Bakshi LOTR movie. The spoken words were from the intro of that 1978 movie. I saw that movie when it first came out, but read the books some years before.
This is actually two songs. The first isn't a Nightwish original and isn't on any Nightwish album. It is based on a song, Jigs, from Troy's previous band Iona, and he brought it to the band as a perfect little jam before performing Elvenpath. Iona was a progressive traditional/folk band so perfectly fits with the fantasy elements of Elvenpath. This performance is from their Decades tour, where they performed a lot of their older material, including Elvenpath. Elvenpath is from Nightwish's first album, Angels Fall First, and much of early Nightwish is fantasy inspired. For a real easter egg, Tuomas actually sang lead on two songs on the album. It was supposed to be just a demo but ther label decided to release it as is. If you watch their very first music video, The Carpenter, you will hear Tuomas singing. Troy and Floor do a beautiful version of The Carpenter on the Decades tour at Buenos Aries as well.
"I already told you I'm a Nightwish fan, you don't have to cram LotR references into the song, just stahp!" :)
LOR .. I got my hands on "The Return of the King" .. very tattered and stained .. about 1967 in High School. Took me a long time to find all the books .. freaked me out a bit starting in the middle .. since I had no idea what I had opened.
Good one.
Floor had a persistent fever that day & could barely talk much less sing. If you watch Floor react to GLS, she mentions having the flu in Bogota.
You should react to the Bogata video of Ghost Love Score. You could react to Last of the Wild it's alot of fun
Not so common banger to react (don't get why) is Fantasmic part III from Tampere Pakkahuone. Love it❤. Mayde check it out?
lotr fan then Battlelore sons of riddermarke
Just let you know. That song was written way before Lord of The Rings Movie.
But the book was written wayy before 😊
@hietalamari1301 as was the animated version from 1978.
Being from 1975 that one was the 1st contact I had with Tolkien and the Lotr universe
