Tuomas still had his doubts however, that this one could be done live. And as you heard Floor pulled it off giving us all another Floorgasm. I confess, I am a Flooraholic!
Behold the Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. Also, just to tell you that James Hetfield, lead singer of Metallica, was watching the entire concert backstage.Jukka Koskinen is the bass player. He came from the same band as Kai Hahto Wintersun. He's one of the best grwoling singers in the world. He sings very deep low.

Hi, 75 years old hippie from the Netherlands =Floor, Irene, Simone, Anneke, Dianne, Charlotte, Sharon, Marcella, Joost (LUL) & Arjen (Ayreon) Country= reporting in: There are a lot of Singers/Musicians who are important for the Music Industry (SALES) and there are Singers/Musicians, NOT A LOT, who are important for The Music History, as an ART ... That's where you find FLOOR & Nightwish !!! Shine on my friends ... 🤘
I was fortunate enough to hear Nightwish perform this at Wembley, Birmingham, Kitee and Vaasa in Finland during the Human II Nature tour, always a Floorgasam moment.
Takes your breath away doesn't it, just transcendental - wondering reaction, and very jealous of you getting to see the greatest living singer on earth 🤘
Ditto, IMHO Floor is the best singer ever and I am addicted to Nightwish totally and forever :) Thanks for the Reaction and returning to Nightwish Music!
There are many great voices in the world. Male and female. Some can do crazy stuff. But there is no one, who can do everything. Except for Floor Jansen. She is the one. No comparison. No competition. And : We are here! . To witness her. 🙏🤘🫡🤘
I like to imagine Tuomas going to Floor with an impossible lyric saying, "go on... sing this." Floor goes, "okay... no problem." Tuomas, frustrated goes back to his pen and paper, returning the next day going, "okay hot shot... try and sing this!" Floor takes the music sheet, looks it over, and goes, "okay... no problem." Tuomas, never one to quit, goes back to his drawing board thinking, "I'm going to get her this time..." and that's how we keep getting these beautiful songs. Seriously, who writes an operatic aria into the end of their rock song? I'm obviously playing, but I think Tuomas does write for his performers, and if you listen to Floor with her other bands and what she does in NW, there's no comparison. Floor really became what she could be when Tuomas got his hands on her... giving her these beautiful songs to sing and allowing her to spread her wings and really take advantage of her talents. Many will remember when she started to do work on her solo album and interviewer asked her if it would be symphonic metal, etc., and she said no. She was already working with the most talented composer of that type of music in Tuomas and didn't feel she'd have anything to add to that genre that he wasn't providing. On the other foot... Tuomas has also stated there will be no other featured singers for NW. If Floor chooses to go, that would be the end. I know they both have many reasons for stating such things, but I've got to think that #1 on both person's lists is the respect they have for one another. Floor looking at Tuomas as one of the most talented songwriters of our time, and Tuomas at Floor recognizing he's got access to one of the best vocalists of our time.... and how lucky are we that they found each other?
A week earlier on Pinkpop and a month later on Deichbrand you can watch Floor singing Shoemaker. Both great with beautiful sound and beautiful images. Bye the way…I always likes your reaction 😊
The whole concert is now free on Nightwish YTchannel❣️🤘 on playlist live recordings. Maybe react to Noise, Planet hell or Tribal. The first 3 songs of their setlist!
I remember that day. We had a heatwave during this time all over Europe with temperature spikes up to 40 Degrees Celsius. I watched the stream and was blown away how they managed to perform. Also this was her second gig that day she had a solo concert only a short time before the one with Nightwish.
May I correct you a bit? sorry...but i feel the need to do...... The day SHE performed two gigs at one day was PinkPop......one or 2 days before Hellfest. Thats why you nearly dont see Emppu at this concert ....he got a massive sunburn at PinkPop...so he tried to stay in the shadow.......
Love this reaction and yes Floor is a siren! I would follow that voice into a burning building! I must admit, I'm a little jealous that you will get to see her, but I am happy for you! I laughed so loud when you said, "Hi, I'm Dom and I have a Nightwish addiction!" Too true!
Hi Dom, another masterpiece. I know of no other band that has a song about a cosmic geologist let alone quoting Shakespeare in the process. The Shakespeare read, by the way, by Tuomas' wife, Johanna Kurkela, a fantastic singer in her own right. This was a difficult one for Floor because the verses dont actually scan to the music so she worked hard to get that working. Efit: I you want a similar, possibly even more stunning, pergormance, look up Hellfest 2022 and the outro, Ad Asta. There is a one minute blackout but it doesnt matter as they are only taking bows. When it comes back (sound doesn't stop) the guys line up at the back of the stage and Floor steps forward and opens her mouth. The first time I saw/heard it, I literally had to grab the arms of my chair to stop me falling off. Literally. The only time I ever really understood what that phrase really meant. It still happened many more times after. You are not alone in your addiction and they are only getting better. I love your channel.
Yess, there's a lot of good song on hellfest setlist by NIGHTWISH Noise Tribal Planet hell I want my tears back(if you want to see floor dancing with the fan)
Excellent reaction. Well said about Floor. And Nightwish in general. I couldn't agree more. I think you haven't done "Devil and the deep dark ocean" From Argentina concert yet. You should do that one.
Troy sings here, he also plays a guitar solo. Unfortunately, the cameramen ignored it. Another interesting thing is that Nightwish themselves didn't consider this song special and weren't even going to perform it live, but after the album was released, during the pandemic when reaction videos became extremely popular, they noticed that people really loved "Shoemaker" lyric video and decided to include the song in their setlists when they got back on the road.
I saw Floor live last year in the Netherlands and you can all the clips on you tube like i did......she is next level live on stage she blew me and the rest of the audience away so enjoy and capture that moment like i did great reaction btw thnx and greetings from the Netherlands
Floor is the eighth wonder of the world. I don't know what else to say, actually i don't think that there's anything else left to be said from anyone, just give this Woman all the trophies all the prizes of this world, name her as Earth Ambassador etc
Before I went to the concert in Amsterdam I had heard the album version loads of times and also seen this video and liked it but never expected what it feels like to hear it live. That ending brought tears to my eyes both nights It’s like she sings straight into your soul. Both Dark chest of Wonders and 7 Days to the Wolves where surprising bangers for me ( the setlist was shuffled a bit for some concerts after her breastcancer surgery)
Had to check the list first, I would like to see a reaction to “Devil & the deep dark Ocean” or “Slaying the Dreamer” from Buenos Aires 2018 or “Planet Hell”also at Hellfest 2022 ❤
Seen this live. Onion ninjas and shaky hands prevented me from having proper video of it. You really need to see Nightwish live. I will again if they put The Weave on setlist.
A seriously difficult song to sing and perform. I heard a story that after recording it, she went home, thought about it and called Tuomas telling him she wanted to re-record it, then did this! Goddess material only, thank you. Tory rips on the eBow while Emppu lays the foundation. I love that they use Johanna's recitation of Shakespeare. It only sad thing is that Eugene Shoemaker never heard it, but I'm positive his spirit has. Too beautiful for words, so I'll stop.
Yes, that is Troy singing with Floor. Song is from the Human:II:Nature album, about planetary geologist Eugene Shoemaker, probably most known for co-discovering the Shoemaker -Levy 9 comet that crashed into Jupiter. Part of his ashes were put into an urn and sent to the moon. The spoken part is a Shakespeare quote from Romeo and Juliet, and was voiced by Finnish singer Johanna Kurkela, who is Tuomas' wife. That quote is inscribed on the urn sent to the moon. Album was recorded with Marko, but he left before they got to play any of it. Next for Nightwish? Suggest "Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean" live from Buenos Aires 2018 , Marko sings with Floor.
The last moments of this song are live extremely difficult to sing live without getting into problems because of the breath control needed. There are singers who use tricks like auto-tune or lip syncing to avoid the risk of failing, but Floor has her iron lungs and amazing diaphragm that is continuously pumping air to the larynx. ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxu_uzEC2ULSx8sR7MBKALsb14oXHoDJLt
Hey Dear Metal Muse, I love always what you do, and Like You, I am a Lifelong fan of Floor Jansen, right from her After Forever Days, until Now in Nightwish, and beyond. Not Just Floor, But Nightwish are a band that will never be equaled or bettered. we know you have done The Greatest Show on earth. Fromm Wembley 2015, my wife and I were there. you did say that you would do the TGSOE from Tampere, in Finland, which is just beyond belief, please, Please, Do it for all your fans. and your review of Shoemaker was just Amazing. Thank You Lady. x

Currently 92 comments, so little chance you'll get to see this, but I gotta try. The voice reading the Shakespeare quote is Thomas's wife. She is lead singer of the folk group Auri, which features Tuomas and Troy (and Kai I think). If you are anywhere near London, they are playing at Union Chapel (Islington) around October this year.
The quote from Romeo & Juliet was recited by Johanna Kurkela (Mrs. Tuomas) and it was indeed Troy on backing vocals. The three of them are also in their own Folk band, Auri.
This is the kind of musical composition and performance which takes music way beyond metal. 2026 will be here soon and then the magic will explode into the world once again. Yes, I am also a Flooroholic. And a Nightwish addict.
Amazing to think this EPIC piece of work is actually an ode to a scientist...Eugene Shoemaker, father of planetary science...some of his ashes were sent on the spaceship that was intentionally crashed into the moon, the Lunar Prospector. The spoken portion (spoken by Tuomas' wife, Johanna Kurkela, herself an AMAZING angelic singer) is from Romeo and Juliet, and was inscribed onto Shoemaker's urn. The amazing end part Floor was singing, "Laudato Si, Ad Astra", translated means (more or less) "Praised Be to the Stars", or perhaps "Praise him to the stars"...
Good to hear you're going to see Floor live this year. Hope your Dutch is good, cos I hear it's going to be much more of a speaking thing than a straight-up concert, but I'm sure it will still be excellent. I managed to get by in Eindhoven last June with my little knowledge of Dutch until she switched to English halfway through. Really want to go again, but chances are low. There are still some tickets for Almere in October, so I might have a look at that. Looks easy enough to get to from Schiphol...
Tuomas: " But Floor can sing "Shoemaker" live, which is probably the hardest piece of music to sing ever written (laughs) so it's not that she couldn't ...Greetings from Finland 🤘🤘
Funny you say that, she actually sang (part of) the phone book live on Dutch radio once when she released her first solo song. It was magical. And is on her youtube channel.
@@garypeterson9215 Since the filming of this concert was from the festival and not from the band itself, their film crew doesn't know the band members, the songs and who does what and when.
You should maybe check out some Marko solo project after he left there's quite a few gems in there some traditional metal and some deeper stuff plus ton of collabs
The middle spoken word section from shakespeare is read by Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela. There is a song called "A lifetime of Adventure" from Tuomas' solo album based on the adventures of Scrooge McDuck - features the creator Don Rosa and his wife Johanna on vocals, Dom it is a beautiful song and i think you would just melt listening to it. On camera of course! ruclips.net/video/JWwSVOo5K_k/видео.html
Hi, great reaction as always. A quick search revealed you have not done "Dead boy's poem" by Nightwish yet, so here's the link to the 2018 Buenos Aires Version: ruclips.net/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/видео.html
Jaaa......Dom Please !!!!! According to Tuomas, the song is the “mother of all Nightwish songs,” about himself and how he wants people to remember him as when he passes away. Before he wrote "The Poet and The Pendulum", he said "This is the most personal song I’ve ever written. My testimony for the whole world. With this song I want to apologise everyone who deserves my apology. It also makes an “I don’t care” -statement to them who deserve it. The song is also about what Nightwish means and has meant to me. It’s all, without it I’m dead. I have created it and it has created me. When I pass away, this song’s lyrics are of what I wish to be remembered. An Ocean Soul." No one....I say again.....no one on that planet can sing this song with more emotion than the GODDESS.....no one !!!!
Just a little song about the only man to be buried in the moon, Eugene Shoemaker. I like to think he was thrusted there just by the sheer power of Floors voice. NASA helped.
Dom, please react to the official LIVE video of the definitely METAL song TRIBAL! I checked your 31 Nightwish song playlist and didn’t see it. This is a compilation of various live clips of Tribal. Tuomas is highlighted a couple times like a conductor and Floor is in various outfits and even during her obviously pregnant performance. Plus it was just compiled and released in 2023!
Hi Dom, just went thru your list of NW-reactions and found two very important older gems missing yet: First is Tuomas testament to the world 'Dead Boys Poem ruclips.net/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/видео.html and second is a very seldom reacted song from Tampa/Florida concert 'Sahara' ruclips.net/video/lTvYfLa4Wlk/видео.html And I have another suggestion from her live in Amsterdam: 'Slow Love Slow' ruclips.net/video/bBG8GdyLYDk/видео.html Maybe you want to dig into them.... I will always find out as I follow you like a shadow. Greetings from Germany

I am not a fan of the audio quality in the Hellfest videos. I think some of the instrumentation has some weird compression effects. The goddess Floor sounds really good, thankfully. I don't think there was a harpsicord. As referenced in the lyrics, I think this song has a dulcimer played in some parts.
Earth is 4.5 Billion years old, and we get to live on it the same time as Floor. We won the lottery!

I managed to get by in Eindhoven last June with my little knowledge of Dutch until she switched to English halfway through. Really want to go again, but chances are low. There are still some tickets for Almere in October, so I might have a look at that. Looks easy enough to get to from Schiphol...
Good to see you already mention this, managing expectations since it's a theatershow, not a concert. But it's still Floor, so can only be amazing! 😊
The Song is about Eugen Shomaker
Gets me every time ❤
Tuomas: " But Floor can sing "Shoemaker" live, which is probably the hardest piece of music to sing ever written (laughs) so it's not that she couldn't ...Greetings from Finland 🤘🤘
Her similing at the end - i am done. Bin ich krank? Greetings
❤
This is music at it's very very very best
Hi, very beautiful reaction, thank you 🥰
It IS Troy
Great reaction! One of my favorite Nightwish songs:)
First! I needed a diversion!
Funny you say that, she actually sang (part of) the phone book live on Dutch radio once when she released her first solo song. It was magical. And is on her youtube channel.
😍😍😍
Yes is troy
I wish they would have focused the video on Troy a couple times during this song.
@@garypeterson9215 Since the filming of this concert was from the festival and not from the band itself, their film crew doesn't know the band members, the songs and who does what and when.
Eddi and Karen Matheson both angelic
You should maybe check out some Marko solo project after he left there's quite a few gems in there some traditional metal and some deeper stuff plus ton of collabs
You should do Slaying the dreamer from the Buenos Aires concert a heavy song with Marco! I
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
The middle spoken word section from shakespeare is read by Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela. There is a song called "A lifetime of Adventure" from Tuomas' solo album based on the adventures of Scrooge McDuck - features the creator Don Rosa and his wife Johanna on vocals, Dom it is a beautiful song and i think you would just melt listening to it. On camera of course! ruclips.net/video/JWwSVOo5K_k/видео.html
👍👍🇳🇱🤘🤘🎤💕👏👏👏
An Ocean Soul."
No one....I say again.....no one on that planet can sing this song with more emotion than the GODDESS.....no one !!!!
I concur
Triple concur! But you might need a hanky Dom.😂
Just a little song about the only man to be buried in the moon, Eugene Shoemaker. I like to think he was thrusted there just by the sheer power of Floors voice. NASA helped.
More lovebites reaccion 🤘😃🤘
I keep saying it: Hellfest had the wrong director. Troy singing or playing the e-bow: never a close up.
Troy.
I think you should check out “the weave” from their latest album! Oh and by the way, I’m also a nightwish addict 😅
Floor and her band are at Wacken in Aug (Not Nightwish) and Masters of Rock Czech Rep..July,,😎
Hi Dom,
just went thru your list of NW-reactions and found two very important older gems missing yet:
First is Tuomas testament to the world 'Dead Boys Poem
ruclips.net/video/S8E3L7ggLMM/видео.html
and second is a very seldom reacted song from Tampa/Florida concert 'Sahara'
ruclips.net/video/lTvYfLa4Wlk/видео.html
And I have another suggestion from her live in Amsterdam: 'Slow Love Slow'
ruclips.net/video/bBG8GdyLYDk/видео.html
Maybe you want to dig into them.... I will always find out as I follow you like a shadow.
Greetings from Germany
And if the quality of the phone footage doesn't bother you, then Slow Love Slow, Floor perform with two weeks of experience as a Nightwish singer😅 ruclips.net/video/mSzEJ855YFg/видео.htmlsi=btLK8C1QECzuukKJ
ruclips.net/video/CLUr1DLwEQg/видео.htmlsi=CGBj5RrH2EdfYDbU this is the link to Floor singing phonebook
Let me take you to the beginning ruclips.net/video/dvNprB9bL5Q/видео.htmlsi=NwjuQuIZ_0CIIEWG oh and the best Nightwish song is The Pharaoh Sails To Orion for me🤘
Try Epica .
You do very good self-promotion just by being you.
I am not a fan of the audio quality in the Hellfest videos. I think some of the instrumentation has some weird compression effects. The goddess Floor sounds really good, thankfully. I don't think there was a harpsicord. As referenced in the lyrics, I think this song has a dulcimer played in some parts.
still miss marko and jukka. but: fantastic performance here,
🇬🇧 Norfolk strapped in reporting for duty 😊
