Thank you for posting informative videos like these. Would you recommend a new grad OT to go into early intervention?

Hello. Thanks for your question. With the right supports and mentorship in place I say go for it! I recommend you do some shadowing first so you can at least get a feel for this setting. I am actually in the process of developing a program for new OTs interested in EI. So be sure to follow me (instagram.com/ashtheot/) so you know when I release it!

Hello! Thanks for such an informative video. I was wondering what someone the challenges are in your role? I have a social work degree and am very interested in early childhood intervention.

Awesome to hear that you have interest in early childhood intervention! It is such a fun and unique setting. Just like any other setting it has its pros and cons which is very subjective depending on who you are and what your needs are. Some challenges may be isolation, being confident with working with children who are such a young age, building rapport and carryover with families, etc.

@@AshtheOT Thanks so much for replying! But what do you mean by isolation?

I just mean that with Early Intervention since you will be going to homes you are moreso on your own versus a clinic setting where you always have other therapists around you. However there are some therapists who do EI and work for clinics so you have a better chance of interacting with other therapists more often. Also just to let you know for the month of October I have opened up my schedule to take consultations for those who want to dive deeper and learn more about the ins and outs of EI. You may schedule here if interested: calendly.com/ashtheot/ot-consultation-mentorship?month=2023-10@@abcde17979
