Hello michael my name is MORR (Matt's Off Road Recovery) I work for the foundation of law and recovery. We've got a side-by-side with a broken UTV joint. Let's roll.
I love that Matt did the man pause when the guy behind the counter asked "anything else for you today?" Every man does this because there is a LOT more that he wants to get. lol
Yes! (In your head) I'll take a Flowmaster, a cold air intake, steel braided lines for everything, a new jack, and some of those snickers candy bars. Lol everytime!!!
@@SteelheadTed maybe for mom's camry and dad's corolla ... I'd say this application sees quite different heat and endurance loads than most will ever see in daily driving. Only thing they could add to increase severity of service is add in consistent road salt spray :p

I've watched Matt's channel from the beginning years ago, watched many different crew / characters pass thought while new members join the show along the way. It's very clear to me what keeps me watching along with others who make this channel popular. It's Matt himself. Other off road channels are missing that key element, a self-effacing fun loving free wheeling common man. Matt is the spark that keeps me watching ever episode his very talented support crew produce for him.
@@waggy401 yep. Everything that happened can be seen on the Donut video. Happened quick so there's not a lot to see but it was a pretty intense moment. Somehow I think if Matt's Team had a longer video we'd of seen it by now because they don't seem shy about uploading 45+ minutes of content per video. lol.

I just love this channel. I spent 90% of my life in southern Utah. Now that I'm in Georgia this keeps me connected to my roots. Man, I love seeing these videos of my old stomping grounds.
Matt gets to pursue childhood dreams. He has a Corvair that he first saw when he was a kid on some sort of family trip and now he has added a little touch from a favorite TV show. I can relate. Little touches of that kind of whimsy add a lot of enjoyment to life.
Matt's a fun guy, but his superpower is how much he enjoys the odd ball stuff. He's also a great team leader in that he enables people to become multi faceted individual contributor's.
Matt I love how your inner child is alive and well. Like who doesn't need a scanner light bar lol. It's those little joys in life that make it all worth it.

A little trick for starting the spark plugs in I learned about 60 years ago. Use about a 4 inch long piece of rubber hose that will slip over the plug end. It allows you to start the plug turning and helps align the threads and start very easily.

Hi Matt! When I bought our 2005 Toyota 4Runner from the original owner in 2011, it had 225,000 miles. No codes to be seen. Idle was slow but smooth. I pulled the original copper plugs and replaced with Iridium. Gave one to the Toyota Parts Manager for a souvenir. 120 thousands of an inch gap was eye-popping. Mileage went up 3mpg overnight, idle RPM normal and running like a race horse! Now with 313,000 miles and running strong. Engine has never been open! No oil consumption between 5000 mile intervals. ❤
Led works plenty fine under water. The controller does not, unless it is waterproof. The conroller can be dipped in plaasti dip for tool handles. Works awesome. Greeting from a long time rc'er who is used to submerge leds on trails.
I was so happy to see our Morvair on the Donut list. Anytime “ Matt’s off-road is mentioned anywhere it just makes me happy. But I do get a bit jealous when our equipment is spoken about like it belongs to them…. Guess what ? No it’s ours!
Love the new addition to the Morrvair, I grew up watching the night rider. This was a great episode. I enjoyed seeing everyone just hanging out and having fun. It was cool seeing everyone riding to O'Reilly's in the blue morrvair.
Matt and his crew have specifically mentioned heading over to O Reilly for parts many times. O’Reilly would be stupid as a company NOT to want to take care of a patron that has brought so much attention and business to their company. Matt deserves all the attention and recognition he gets, weather it be from an individual or a company. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of marketing, always has been always will be.
Really nice to see the little kid in Matt over the scanner lights. Don't ever lose that... They do serve as a way to find customers who leave bad pins though.
I truly enjoy your antics and the fact you and Tom play off each other soo well and still produce effective, simple improvements! Be safe, looking forward to the next installment of the "Matts off Road show.
I love your attitudes I’m trying to learn from you all and just be a happy person! Nothing seems to bother you especially Matt. Some of the stuff he has to deal with as far as stuff not going right or fitting right on the vehicles he is just always happy and it’s awesome to watch. Trying to learn from ya Matt! You guys are all awesome I’m so glad I found this channel!
I only commented on this post, but I watched the whole series of the Corvair build. I must say you guys are the best team and most versatile group of people I’ve seen and y’all work together so well. What you were able to accomplish is nothing short of amazing. I love your videos and have seen too many to count. I’d love to meet you someday Matt. I kinda feel like I’ve known you forever. Best wishes for you and your family and your business. Keep getting ‘em out!
I’d have wanted to replace that broken rear door glass, it’s really bugging me 🤣 Great episode, and the Morrvair is just about the right era for KITT… Love the Morrvair, it’s handsome and a beast. ❤️🇷🇴
TT now that you are family, and I can say seeing those plugs go in after 200,000 miles, lets get the gas gauge, air conditioner, weather stripping, and what ever else the Morvair needs. Now as I watch the rest of this, it seems Matt wants to fix things. Go for it...
I completely understand about the XJ seats. my frame was broken in 3 places. I had to pull the entire base apart down to the bare frame. straighten everything out and weld in reinforcements so it wouldn't break again. but honestly they have been great for about a year now. we will see what the future holds.
Your Corvair / Nightrider lights are "Awesome". Brings back the good old days when my son and I would watch the show. Thank you for bring back family memories.
Matt and Tom make such a great duo! Matt you have assembled such a Great Team, much knowledge and tons of respect for each other. I enjoy and look forward to each of your videos. Also great job from Hefe, Lizie and Jamie. Thank you!
My grandfather was a farmer and when I was growing up, he’d always say “I cut it off twice and it’s still too short!” when we’d be working on anything involving measuring. Watching Matt reminds me of that. 😂 And I’m also an auto mechanic for 11 years, and also prefer to eyeball vs measure, and am surprisingly accurate usually. Lol
So sweet to see that lovely old Corvair rollin' round the streets! The Banana always seemed more tractable, especially just off-idle, but the Morrvair now sounds as good!
The “Knight” light is great! It’s good to see maintenance being done on the Morrvair. Hoping the broken pelvis mends quickly. LOVE the old International Scout!!!
Okay. I might be wrong here but it looks like the only brake pedal travel stop you have is the brake light switch itself and if that's the case then it's no wonder the old switch kept getting stuck in the open position. You should really have a mechanical pedal travel stop that takes care of the pedal stop and not the switch as using your switch will cause it to wear out prematurely and or stick due to being hammered inward. Take care and I love your video's Matt. 👍😀
Cool Jeepster. Nice to see O'Reilly's sponsorship. They're building a new store in my little (pop. about 12.5K) desert town. No chain auto parts stores before. Of course, no McDonald's, no Starbucks, no Subway, no Denny's, no Walmart, Lowe's, drug stores or Home Depot either. No tire shops, no supermarkets, no high school, no factories. When we bought our 1st house here, no gas stations, no cable, no natural gas, no traffic lights, no park, no freeway, no police, no medical, no library, no bank. Most important...No crowds and no traffic, no smog.
I bought a 74 chevy truck that ran ok. I pulled the spark plugs and they were pugs that they stopped making in 78. Once I changed them it was like a completely new truck
The amount of times I laugh to myself and shake my head just because Matt is exactly like me is hilarious. From the way he mechanics to his poor maintenance to his incredibly good luck by winging it is like my twin.... lol Oh and I get massively impatient and then have to redo stuff all the time.....
Hopefully, the scanner printed circuit board has a conformal coating on it. Conformal coating protects it from moisture and corrosion. I like the MTG silicone conformal coating. It dries clear.
Such a great cast here. I can't get enough of them. And Lizzy, just love her to no end. It'll be a sad day when I see her go, and I know it's coming someday. She should start her own channel.
Iridium plugs are designed for 75000 to 100000 miles. Typically it's recommended to check them at 60000. The iridium plugs can't be gapped because the electrode tips are "fine wire" and break very easily. I usually run the NGK plugs in all my vehicles simply because I've never had a bad one out of the box. All the other brands I have.
I bought a 97 XJ that had the same problem with the bolt holes ripping out. When I was welding washers into the seat, I took the backrest and the foam off, and that square frame for the seat fell apart in two pieces. Some of the welds between the tubing and the formed sheet metal had broken from the extra force leaning back on the seat where it wasn't supported in the front. I noticed it, but my dad had no complaints. He's a bit heavier than I am, so I was the only one pushing myself back enough while pushing on the clutch to notice, but it did take a little persuasion with a hammer to get both sides holding the backrest in the same place. Wouldn't surprise me if the same thing happened to your seats.
Try switching seats , left to right and right to left . The inward lean could be from the seats [saddles] being on the wrong side . Love the fabricobbling. Good job and good luck.
A wee tip for Matt ,, find a piece of hose line that your plug ceramic fits snuggly into and use it to seat your plug. Gives you full 360 rotation and a torque free twist which wont damage alloy threads. You can get to tight spots then torque once seated :)
@@bigredc222 Yep. You can beat U joints with a hammer...and axles...and a lot of stuff. Not the best idea for spark plugs and alloy heads. I don't understand your point given if he knows the hose hack..it would have been in the video?!
Lizzy was just sitting around watching. How rare! She’s usually always welding or cutting, or fixing something. Great to see the puppy dogs in the videos. You owe Max an apology for not warning him. A nice filet minion will do, over easy.
In any team, there are boundaries, of what the ‘team’ knows. Matt has a preclusion, about, the process, that is not wrong , yet , doe complicate future repair. I’ve never changed my xj spark plugs, and I’m impressed.
As a man of roughly the same age as Matt, the Knight Rider references and light addition is the best thing that I've seen you do to the Morrvair and I've watched since the beginning of the build. Add 22% coolness factor for the Kitt scanner lights!
The back seat driver's side window glass being badly broken all through the middle bugs me every time I see it. It's funny that Matt cares so much about a very small piece being missing from the grill and hard to notice but the obviously destroyed window on the side of his beloved Morrvair doesn't seem to bother him. Maybe that glass is really hard to find.
Side window glass is almost always tempered, so it blows up like a bomb when broken and doesn't just crack like you see in the posts. It's probably a custom piece made from sandwiched glass, like what you'd find in an HB series Durango. Matt has his connections.
@@ejlucas5200 I don't know that they used tempered side glass yet in the early 1960s. I know that my 1941 Chevrolet had sandwiched side glass in it. It may also have mattered whether the glass was flat or curved, as to what type of glass was used.
😎 Great job MATT and the MORR team! Yet another entertaining and well produced video! So awesome that you added KIT to your car and you can get ahold of DEVON at F.L.A.G.! 😂
Love the channel, hate to see Matt using that grinder without gloves and eye protection, I am older than Matt by more than a few years, got way to comfortable with my grinder after decades of no issues, had a flap wheel me apart on my Metabo grinder a few months ago, for some reason I had decided to use my gloves and safety glasses that time, so glad I did, I will never fire that grinder off without them again, I c ould have easily needed serious stitches, the pieces were razor sharp, i could only find part of the wheel, months later found the missing piece embedded in a box under my bench 30 feet from where i was working.
Oh Matt, why can't we always be this happy happy mood that links back to even my father and his car humor.thank you for that, can never be a not part of me.
We are all well served by Matt failing to qualify for medical school. His boyhood dream of becoming a surgeon would have been a disaster because surgeons don't get second chances at measuring and cutting.

Great watching the three of you Matt, Lizzy and Tom Tom
So O'Reilly must now be a BIG sponsor.
Fact!
yeah, this is new low
@@courgetteehow is having a sponsor and growing your business a low? Come on man.
I bet they are.
VGG is also sponsored by them.
I hope you made the fuel gauge senders priority when you’ve been upgrading the Banana and Morvair.
Lizzy is such an asset to Matt's off road recovery she can pretty much do anything anybody on crew can do
Her great can-do personality fits in well with the group. Its good to see such a young woman in YT videos who has real talent and skills.
Yes - sweeping up today !
A great video and a well deserved spa day for the Morrvair. The only thing missing was Matt driving up a ramp on a moving 18 wheeler!
You have way more patience than most folks I've encountered Matt.
What about giving the poor old girl a full oil, coolant and filters change, given where you guys drive that thing, that’s important . Great video
Man the way she hits in the gears when Matt fed her.. from 2nd to 3rd was impressive.
Ole 5.3 was screaming during Matt’s 0-60 test😂😂
Yes it sure was.
I thought Tom's launch was a little soft, but then Matt buried the pedal! 😆
I’d have wanted to replace that broken rear door glass, it’s really bugging me 🤣
Great episode, and the Morrvair is just about the right era for KITT…
Love the Morrvair, it’s handsome and a beast.
❤️🇷🇴
Nice to see the Morrvair running so well! Great job on the tuning Tom!
You know you made it when O'Reilleys is your main sponsor 😂 These guys are killin it
TT now that you are family, and I can say seeing those plugs go in after 200,000 miles, lets get the gas gauge, air conditioner, weather stripping, and what ever else the Morvair needs. Now as I watch the rest of this, it seems Matt wants to fix things. Go for it...
Nice vid as always.
What a dog life. Max is loving it. You are stepping over him when he is snoozing. Love it.
As a child of the 80s I love how happy Matt is with the Knight Rider scanner on the Morrvair :) Brightened my day, great video.
Thank you!
who's Tom?
@@butchgreene Tom is the engineer amongst the farmers
The new gas pedal needs green LEDs on either side ,hooked up to the throttle position sensor. Then the MORRvair will be ready for season three.
As a fellow 80's kid all you need now is an A-Team Van and you are ready rock and roll lol, great video keep up the good work!
My grandfather was a farmer and when I was growing up, he’d always say “I cut it off twice and it’s still too short!” when we’d be working on anything involving measuring. Watching Matt reminds me of that. 😂
And I’m also an auto mechanic for 11 years, and also prefer to eyeball vs measure, and am surprisingly accurate usually.
Wasn't that a Jeepster?
@@randytolle6706 From the badge on the hood, it was a 1966-71 Jeepster Commando.
That Scanner bar is exactly an 11% improvement.
^^ and if it comes out too far once, the rod may drop down and no brakes at all! always put a physical stop(with rubber bumper).
I love Matt's off road recovery ❤
Hopefully, the scanner printed circuit board has a conformal coating on it. Conformal coating protects it from moisture and corrosion. I like the MTG silicone conformal coating. It dries clear.
That's a beautiful old Jeepster. Love the sound of that Dauntless V-6. My folks had a '68 CJ-5 with that engine.
@5:42 The look of a man desperately trying to think of just one of the dozens of things he should buy while he is there.
I have been watching Matt's off-road recovery for quite a while. First video I saw was Matt pulling a race car out of his attic!!!
If you haven't yet, I highly recommend going way back and watching the early recovery videos before these overly built vehicles were employed.
Next level content. The evolution of the filming and editing is great to see. Keep on keeping on. Great show today
Try switching seats , left to right and right to left . The inward lean could be from the seats [saddles] being on the wrong side . Love the fabricobbling. Good job and good luck.
Throw a couple of washers in that corner and straighten it right out.
Y’all bring a smile to me face on each episode great team you have Matt!
A wee tip for Matt ,, find a piece of hose line that your plug ceramic fits snuggly into and use it to seat your plug. Gives you full 360 rotation and a torque free twist which wont damage alloy threads. You can get to tight spots then torque once seated :)
I'm sure he knows that, he has a press but still beats U joints in with a hammer. That says it all.
@@bigredc222 Yep. You can beat U joints with a hammer...and axles...and a lot of stuff. Not the best idea for spark plugs and alloy heads. I don't understand your point given if he knows the hose hack..it would have been in the video?!
@@iainshallish2631 I'm saying he knows the hacks and doesn't use them. He's probably using the socket with an extension, it works fine.
HEY! Gooooood MORRning and thumbs UP to Matt and crew! 👍👊
Lizzy was just sitting around watching. How rare! She’s usually always welding or cutting, or fixing something.
Great to see the puppy dogs in the videos. You owe Max an apology for not warning him.
A nice filet minion will do, over easy.
Pregnant I think.
I had a filet "Minion" once.😂
Matt could make his life easier by working on the Bombi now.
Not his style😂 We will see repairs in November is my guess.
I see Matt’s still avoiding the caged tiger of the SnowCat 😂🤣😂
