I don't think there are a lot of situations where you'd need to use a lighter, and those lighters aren't the only type of lighter- you get the ones where you push a switch, the ones where you only press down and don't need to flick as well, etc.

As a bowmaker, I compliment all of you. It's especially nice to see someone who does _not_ flame the hairs after finishing, to shorten up the loose ones. If a bow is rehaired properly, there will be no loose hairs, and flaming shortens their life. But there are at least a couple of videos on RUclips showing this. I literally just yesterday opened my cello case to find that almost all of my bow hair had somehow been ripped off, so this was the perfect video for me to see. Obviously I'm not gonna try it myself, but it was weirdly comforting.
