I saw a great raw copy for $40 on friday. It's stale.

Finally bought a Hulk 180...paid $440 CDN for a CGC 3.0 with new staples. I am happy with that. Less than $500 is what I was waiting for.
There are oodles of 1st Deadpools out there..anyone who pays more than $300 for a 9.8 is foolish imo.
That 1st Wolverine ltd series #1 is almost as common, lots of 9.8 and other high grades out there. My own copy is a 9.6 or maybe 9.8 contender but Im not bothering to grade it. If it ever came back a 9.8 and i could get thousands for it I will sell in a heartbeat.
Ist app of Iron Fist is one to grab now while it is cheap. I am planning on getting a 2nd copy. But be prepared to sit on it for a good long time.

Yeah, but, that does not mean all those 9.8 Wolverine 1s are in the market. How many collectors are holding on to them for the long-run because they are collectors and not flippers? What you said makes sense if all graded copies immediately go into market circulation, but that's not how this hobby works. The trend to watch is the % change of 9.8s hitting the market, not the number of new 9.8s being slabbed. Also, demand could increase as Wolverine is next to Spiderman Marvel's most prolific and profitable character, and most importantly most "well known" and we're going to see Wolverine movies, forever that will continue to broaden market exposure. So, I'm not so certain I agree with your analysis based solely on the supply side.
The amount of sales is what ranks the books on the list, Wolverine 1 is indeed selling in much higher quantities as supply goes up. Good point to make, we can start counting the numbers to provide evidence of the correlation for sure.
The X-men book always triggers me. Plenty of undisputed 1st appearances with less of the character in than the annual. Even key collector lists that as 1st.
I've always felt CGC got it wrong initially and they can't walk it back with so many graded comics issued as 1st.

Those iron fist prices are almost impossible to believe. He’s such a major character. I don’t get it. And that story is a classic if you’ve read it. I used to reread that comic over and over.

Snagged my first ever Marvel Premiere 15 last week. No regrets - the character will bounce back.
Gambit in the annual was considered the first appearance at the time.
I hope Taylor is in Deadpool, I don't have a copy but am rooting for those that do (or this crashes hard.)
I don't currently own any of the three books mentioned. I'm hoping the prices do drop so I can afford to buy a high grade copy of each.

I just bought an X-Men #130 CGC 9.6 Newstand (WP) today at a LCS for $500, so for now, I'm feeling good about this purchase.

Gentlemen....the price gauging of graded books is pushing up the raw market. There are plenty of wolverine and deadpools that change hands on places other than ebay. People are waking up and realizing there are other places to get these books being pushed by......scalpers.
So I should sell my wolverine 1 and new mutants 98 now ?!?

Wolverine is an A-List Marvel character, among the very few who can maintain solo or top superhero team (X-Men) in both comics and in movies. He's going to be an A-list character in the MCU for generations to come. Iron Fist is more like a C-List character that hardly anyone cares about, just another martial arts fighter, like Shang-Chi. There is no comparison. Think about this... by the latest numbers, there are 13,773 9.4 or higher. Let's say there are 500k at least casual comic book collectors. Only 2.7% of them will have a Wolverine #1 in 9.4 or higher, if people only had one each, and you know that's not the case - so it's under 2 in 100. How many in Newsstand? What will happen once CGC starts distinguishing those? X-Men movies are going to come back, Wolverine will be recast, and the next era will carry on. I'm not selling mine. No way Jose.

If a character appeared, for the first time, in a comic book then it's a first appearance. No such thing as a "cameo" appearance. 'Nuff said
I fully agree. Unfortunately, it's a second market manipulation tactic. A first appearance can be considered a true first appearance for years or even decades. Then Overstreet decides that the second appearance is the first, and the first is a cameo. Overstreet still has influence, even in modern times. I've dealt with this for decades. It's a racket that will be around as long as comics are printed. I learned years ago, buy the first two appearances jic
Honestly, iron fist has never gotten enough love. And, let's face it, the show TANKED.
I believe if Swift is in Deadpool, she’s not playing a Marvel character. Also, John Malkovich will be voicing the Silver Surfer. MCU has NO IDEA who the Puppet Master is. Natasha Lyonne is a great pick, but way to old to play Masters and has personal life baggage Disney might not want to touch.
MCU, while definitely in a woke downturn, is still on fire with incredible casting and risky director picks. If they’d only pay for some writers.
Comic fans should NEVER cast for movies. They’re the absolute worst.

that book shouldnt be high anyhow. Collectors are finally realizing what rare actually means. In the much bigger sports card market cards numbered out of 100 arent even considered that rare anymore lol. You can thank disney for ruining the hobby, comics lore is a joke to most now.
