I'm cautiously optimistic. As Eddie said, addition by subtraction with PLD gone. The two way forwards are good, especially down the middle, thinking that Byfield will improve his 2-way game, and i guess Turcotte as the 4C with his impressive skating can be shutdown man as well. Fiala is the key to the offense. When he quit bumbling around towards the end of the season, he became a scorer of goals, and he needs to continue that. What can Laffy do with Kopi and Kempe will be interesting. 2 goals in a preseason game was a nice start. Although Roy is gone, there were too many stay at home guys, so Clarke can help. Idk about Spence. He is good, moreorless, but he needs to generate more offense without becoming a defensive liability. Finally, they brought in Jeannot, Foegele and Edmunson. I don't think that is enough to be a grititier team, but it is a start. The additions of Malott and Gawdin as well may be good. It will be at least a more entertaining season even if a less successful one.

Another tear and rebuild may come under a new GM if this season fizzles
After the PLD debacle, a new GM should be a given. He also basically gave away some solid players for nothing over the last couple seasons. Lombardi lost his job for a slump after winning 2 Cups. Why does Blake still have a job with the LAK now. I'm not sure there are any seasoned GM's with a winning history available right now but what got Blake his job in the first place?
I am hoping for a complete teardown and rebuild, including clearing out the front office. We have no 1C, 1D, 1G, just a bunch of solid middle six and bottom six players with ??? for goaltending.
Barely making the playoffs for a first round knockout or worse, a second round knockout is really bad.
I am not expecting LA to fail this season. If they do fire people. Until then i expect LA to smoke all those teams...
What? the kings have gotten way better than they have been the past three years. Filling the gap of being small with physical players like edmunson, foegele, and jeanott. Kings have had a dominant pre season and Kuemper is an absolute wall in the crease

If we make these playoffs this year then I expect another 1st round exit. I just don't see us getting to the scf or, let alone the wcf, with this roster.
Unless the Kings have a lot of injuries the Kings will make the playoffs. They may make it as the 3rd seed. They basically have the same team returning and added some physical guys in the off season. Also they have some younger guys making the roster this season. They were a top 15 team defensive team last season. They should be better in net. They were not going to make a big trade for a goalie with who they have in the pipeline. Kuemper lost his starting job last year because of injury. The Kings did not bring in any big names and therefore the Kings are going to be disappointing this season according to Eddie and the haters in here. The biggest and most important change the Kings made is to the system they played in getting rid of the 3-1-1 system. The Kings in my opinion are better than the Canucks and Knights. They showed that last season. The knights losing Marchessault will be a tougher blow than some think. His leadership and timely goals cannot be replaced. After seeing the comments by PLD and some of the players last season regarding not knowing their roles, I am all for Blake not returning after this season. I would not be surprised if the ownership keeps him around. The negativity by the fans and media regarding the kings is ridiculous. Improve on special teams and sky is the limit for this team.
Get a new GM, get Cooper or Sullivan (when they get fired, which will be coming soon), have 11 and 8 retire in honor, then think about next...

Without Doughty and ROY, this defense is in trouble. Goaltending is average, not bad, but average. This team will struggle to score and that's before any injuries. If they lose Kempe or Kopitar they'll be in real trouble. I don't like the way the roster is configured. You build from the net out. They need a dominating D-Man. They need a top 10 - goal scorer. Could Byfield elevate his game-- sure. But elevating probably looks like 25-27 goals max.
roy was not as big as a loss as u think. he was ok but made a lot of mistakes. Edmunson is like another gavrikov
@@yakimeshi2268 I have no idea what you're talking about? Roy was second in scoring to Doughty. He was tough, physical and played every game. He did not make a lot of mistakes-- he was steady eddie. Probably the most reliable d-man in his own zone. He is a critical loss. Spence and Clarke are small and can't clear anyone out in front. They're not tough in the corners. Are you familiar with Edmundson? His contract is rated as the worst signing of all free agency. A very, very average player.
Kings? Disappointing? You don’t say. This team has been a disappointment ever since BLuc took over. Real kings fans know what’s up. We won’t be surprised one bit. But hey, if it that means the two aforementioned get the boot, then so be it. Wipe the slate clean!
