  • Welcome to Camping with Kim - my newish camping channel and fourteenth adventure! If you are here for the first time, I don’t talk in my videos and try to use as little music as possible. Please enjoy my laid-back camping mini adventures!
This will be my second endeavor at motorcycle camping. The first time I went, it poured cats and dogs on me. I’ve since upgraded my gear and now I have a tent that can fit me AND my motorcycle! As luck would have it, the skies were grey but it didn’t rain on me this time.
This time I ride to a nearby park called Darlington Provincial Park. It’s not a very popular park and actually is practically empty on this trip. One reason could be because it’s next door to the Darlington nuclear power plant. I didn’t see any green three eyed glowing mutants and it turned out to be a nice little campground.
For my camp gear -- although I’ve acquired some more compact gear and decreased my load with a smaller table and chair, I’ve also increased my load by taking some creature comforts with me - like my new memory foam pillow and a cast iron grill. My tent is a lot bigger too so I had to strap it onto the outside of my motorcycle luggage bag. I think I still have to fine tune and optimize my motorcycle camping setup still because I’d like everything to fit inside my luggage bag (ideally).
Some of the highlights of this campsite were the lake front view of Lake Ontario. When the skies cleared up, it was a beautiful view from my tent out over the waters. There are many birds in the park and were a joy to see as well. I was also lucky to have the whole beach to myself on a cool sunny day.
Some of the not-so-great things about this park is that it doesn’t have a lot to do. Other than enjoying the sounds of birds, there is a nearby train crossing to enjoy the train’s horn every once in awhile - even late into the night. Other than that, it Is also possible to hear the highway since it’s not too far away. Luckily the highway noise mostly becomes background noise when you get used to it.
I enjoyed a nice Korean lettuce wrap dinner and a self cooking breakfast on this trip. I sadly didn’t have room to bring a dessert in my bag though - maybe next time!
Some nice campers must have left some firewood behind, but since it rained the days before, the wood was soaked to the core. I had luck in starting it but it just kept going out. Hopefully the logs dry out enough for the next campers to use.
Thanks for watching my little adventures and see you again next time!!

ya I'm pretty good at tetris haha! I've been collecting gear slowly to work up towards backpacking so I feel motorcycle camping is easier -- I don't have to worry too much about weight and I can go over my 70L bag limit by strapping things on top of it while wearing a backpack. I'm still not totally ready for backpacking though as my camping gear is too heavy for me hike with

@@campingwithkim es, your choice of cooking gear and tent will have to be alot smaller for backpacking....not sure if you knew or not, but if you come accross free firewood again and its wet, try spitting it, the inside is usually dry and will burn, also when you get the fire going lay the other wet logs on the grill of the firepit, this will dry them out
