I anticipate a larger garden will be needed next year. I want to try the cucamelons and ground cherries. Never heard of either one before but quite anxious to try them. I will be planting twice as many cherry tomatoes next year.
I'm not sure where mine came from, but one year my pasture by the barn was full of them! I didn't know what they were until I planted some from a pack of freebie seeds...then I was like HEY! They're already growing everywhere! Bonus. Oh...hub's an Aquarius Sun. I'm a Gemini Sun, Aquarius Rising!
Laughing out loud at your one inch headspace! I do the same thing with pickled stuff/water bath. Now...with PC, I'm much more careful about it...but even then I haven't used my measuring tool in a coon's age. They put nice marks for us to go by...lol And now that I'm a more experienced canner, I can tell by just my funnel!😎🍴💚😂
Wonder why they're called ground cherries if they're not like a real cherry? I used to think that they might be like Rainier cherries but that was wrong. Great job, Sara! Have a good one!
My ground cherries aren't getting big either. I checked the drip tube in that bed and it's not working. Oops. Cool recipe I'll have to give it a try next year
I like ground cherries, but hate the maintenance. And you can only pick them, after they fall on the ground. I need to come up with a way to raise them up, and put a net under them.
Canning ground cherries??? I found jam and such recipes but NOT ONE recipe for canning plain ground cherries. I did it anyway. Used 1/2 C honey to 2 C water for the syrup and steam canned pints for 15 min. Does anyone have experience with canning ground cherries? NOT JAM
Awesome! I just learned what a ground cherry was this year when I was given seeds, they are a family favorite!!
I have SO many ground cherries. I’m going to try this one!

Cucamelons are fun to grow. They are really sweet and taste like a watermelon, when they are tiny. They get sour as they grow bigger.
Hmm never eaten them pickled but I'll have to try this!
This was my first year to grow ground cherries 🍒Aunt Molly's they are delicious 😋 Great video. #teamaquarius
I want to try the pineapple variety. Everyone said they taste so much better

The Mrs. and I are going to have to can some pickled pepperoncini. It's the only thing I have that it really producing.
You still have time for the other plants to catch up. I just started to get peppers a week ago.

I think it is because they are sweeter. They are like a sweet cherry tomato. Most plants in that family are sour.
How much turmeric did you add?
Thank you,
Gayle
However much you want! I love it so do about a tsp per cup of water.
Do you think this would work with tomatillos?

They definitely need water. Hopefully next year is a better season
I have a package of Ground Cherry seeds from Baker Seeds. One of these days...

I grew them in containers with a tarp under.
Is it normal for them to shrink in size. We did these this morning and they shrank considerably.
Do the cherries burst open during processing?
They stay whole, and split a little bit. If the ground cherries are over ripe, they can burst
