We were robbed of a beautiful soul.🌹Selena was 2nd generation Mexican American, so English was her first language. Trying to reconnect with her people she sang in Spanish, always proud of her Mexican roots 🇲🇽. Not only a amazing singer, she was also dancer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur. Always giving back to the community.

Lol Selena was actually born and raised in Texas. (My home state) Her first language is English and she even has that southern twang when she speaks. ❤️ She had to learn how to sing and then speak in Spanish to appeal to the people. She can essentially sing, dance, design clothing and she had the best sense of humor. 🫶🏼 Great reaction!

Selena was and still is the BEST. I grew up with Selena in Corpus Christi Texas and got to see her in concert many times. She was amazing. I was also here at the Houston astrodome concert back in 2/26/1995 when I was 15 years old. She broke the attendance record that night. We all truly miss her. It was not fair that she was taken from us too prematurely 😢❤

She’s Mexican american but with Latinos we weren’t accepted in the american music industry easily so she sang and learned Spanish bc her dad made her and we are obviously more accepted in our Latino music industry. But she didn’t even speak Spanish, she learned it. Y’all should watch the movie

Of course she knew english. That was her first language. Shes from here. Born in Lake Jackson, TX. Selena had to learn to speak proper spanish in order to be able to communicate with Mexican newspaper reporters and media. Because Mexicans will cut you down to size if youre Mexican-American but dont know how to speak spanish. This was even mentioned by her father in the movie "Selena." She had to learn to sing spanish songs because that was her fathers choice, but initially she probably didnt know what she was singing about. Many years ago I read about a German guy who could sing Elvis songs to a T, but he had no idea what he was singing.😂

lol what do you mean you’d think she’s American lol she was born and raised in Texas lol her first language was English and she really did struggle with her Spanish that’s were you could actually feel her English’s accent she was supper cute when she did her Spanglish cause she just had and incredibly pure angelic charisma. The world was truly robbed of a treasure. Not only an incredible artist but also an incredibly down to earth and kind human being.

It was kind of forced on her by her father/manager but her goal was always to cross over into mainstream pop. Unfortunately she was killed while finally recording her first crossover pop album, just a month after this performance which became her last big show. Her idols were artists like Donna Summer, Janet, MJ, Paula Abdul and Madonna to name a few. She was from Texas and English was her first language.
