1. Earring ... when she twirls, an earring is flung and she proceds to discard of the other one. 2. The Stage ... is rotating throughout the entire concert so all her fans are able to see her perform. 3. She was a big fan of Motown artists, and loved Donna Summer, hence the tribute, Last Dance and On the Radio. I was Blessed to see two Live performances of Selena y Los Dinos, the second one on Feb. 10, 1995 in McAllen, Texas. She was phenomenal! Her Legacy will withstand the test of time. Thank you for keeping her memory alive. 🙌
You are one of the fewest who do reactions that noticed when she got rid of her earring. It might be a small thing, but it says a lot about her, instead of worrying how she'd look, she care more about giving a great performance for her fans, that was more important for her. I really liked that you even stop and rewind to appreciate that. Great reaction guys!
Yes! Cuddles for that, I always point it out. Also during the breakdown if you look closely her bell bottom gets stuck under her heal and she's trying to kick it off as she's dancing, makes me laugh all the time. She just kept on going. I love Selena!
Idk why but I always thought it was her earpiece... I think because something about it seemed like she grabbed one of those plastic hook things on some earpieces that go around the ear but haha i guess it totally could have been her earring
She's BEAMING here. Her English crossover was finally happening. Her abilities were at their absolute peak here and she was still getting better. She was supposed to go on a global tour for her English album in the fall and she was already thinking about her next Tejano album. She was starting to appear on a couple of Mexican telenovelas and had a small part in Don Juan DeMarco a movie starring Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp, and Faye Dunnaway. This was only the beginning of her meteoric rise to superstardom. She was gonna be huge 😔
Don’t forget that her last album Dreaming of You released posthumously after her death is still to date the best selling Latin album of all time by far
She's got the energy and the vibes, she actually wants to be there and she wanted to sing. The major difference now is she loved it. Entertainers now just seem miserable. Selena didn't let the industry change her but now labels are completely controlling singers
Actually react to the whole concert. You won’t be disappointed. She killed it on stage and the band! Everyone did an amazing job. She also didn’t take breaks or water breaks!
Omg!!!! Yes!!!! My mom and I watched this whole concert and my mom wasshocked that she didnt take any breaks for water nor sat down because of her heels!!!
Actually she didn’t even have a ear piece, AB said they were actually nervous to play because when they would play at the astrodome it sounded delayed for them and that Selena was nervous as well.
Pensaba que eras como mexicana pero cuando vi la taza con la bandera de República Dominicana me imagino que eres Dominicana también saludos desde punta cana RD 🇩🇴
One of the things that makes Selena one of a kind is she performed like a young girl alone in her bedroom... & you can see her energy without a choreographed dance routine (and NO water) She is so comfortable in stage.
I was there live to see her.... and to think she never broke a sweat.. did all that in heels at that...thats a star.. a diva.. the 1st time she walked on stage from the carriage she just protrude diva status.. 70,000 plus ppl there ..a record at the time fir the dome. It was something ill never forget
REINA was amazing! The Disco songs she performed was the leeway to help support her English Album. This is why they included these songs in the concert. Great Reaction. Thanks guys. 😍
It was also because that's how they started as kids. She didn't start singing Spanish until she was around 10, before that her dad had them singing a lot of disco but then Marcella pointed out that Tejano was big so he had selena learn Spanish
I honestly loved this so much. You not only did a reaction to such an important Queen In our culture but you have also taken the time to expand your knowledge on her and why she is unforgettable to us. Thank you for such a beautiful reaction I enjoyed it so much .
Great reaction video! I’m from Houston so here’s a little background. This was Selena’s third performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Many greats have performed at the Rodeo beginning in 1942 with Gene Autrey. Elvis did the Rodeo twice, Taylor Swift, Earth Wind and Fire. Mostly country artists though: Blake Shelton, Reba, Chris Stapleton and the King-George Strait (over 20 shows). So, in the 90’s they would have a special day featuring Tejano music acts- called Go Tejano Day. Selena’s first Tejano Day was in 1993, then 1994 and her last was this 1995 performance. This concert held the attendance record for many years...66,996 paid in the Astrodome. (The Rodeo later moved to NRG Stadium and CardiB and Garth Brooks each played to 73K). Selena was born in Lake Jackson, TX -about 30 miles from the Astrodome. Such a joyful, effortless performance. Especially good: La Carcacha, Si Una Vez , No Me Queda Mas, Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.
Yay!!!!! I'm so happy your continuing Selena reactions!!! I absolutely love your genuine reaction!! Please do more! Also, react to different live performances other than the astrodome. There are many out there! You can also see how fashionable she was, most of things she wore back then are in stile now with a lot of young women these days. Fashion was her original dream and they definitely put that in display in the series. She designed her own stage wear and created a boutique for women to buy her creations. She also acted a little bit as well. Technically she could of been the equivalent of Beyoncé or Jlo or surpassed them by now if she was alive, I'm sure of it. Keep it up! You guys are doing great 😁
That was my exact same reaction when I first watch these video some months ago. I was just speechless and amazed by her amazing vocals and amazing performance. I’m from Mexico so of course I knew about her, but to be honest I really never put attention in her in anyway, I didn’t even know how she looked like or about her story, but after this video I was just 🤯 with her amazing performance. I fell very identified with you when you say that you didn’t know about her and now you miss her! Man... all my life I didn’t knew or care that much about Selena but 5 min of watching a video of her and ever since I’m grieving her death 😭 So much love for Selena and great reaction 💜 you should react to more Selena if you can. Hugs!
How can I not miss her and how can I not love her?I have always wondered where she has so much power in her lungs, this is probably the best concert for those times, another proof that her taste was ahead of the times in which she lived amazing, sexy but not vulgar, it's a shame that she is not physically with us, but lives thanks to the recordings and good what he left behind. You can still be impressed by the earpiece thing because...she didn't have any. Here's an interview from her brother and sister discussing the difficulties of playing the Astrodome with no earpieces. ruclips.net/video/dRVINiTKT8M/видео.html
I've been a fan since the early 90s, but I heard of Selena y Los Dinos WAY before I knew Spanish because I've always watched Spanish TV. She sold out the Astrodome in 93, 94 , and 95 breaking attendance records by MJ, and others.
Loved your reactions. That Astrodome was huge. Baseball & football played there. Check out her Miller Outdoor Theater Top 40 performance, she's 16. Another is Donde Quiere Que Estes with Barrio Boys. Agree, She was a great performer & singer. More reactions...fan from Texas.
I remember when I was 5 years old . And when she died my sis was crying . Her impact to this world 🌎still exist . To me she was the female Michael Jackson that we didn't have....but is crazy that she not alive and we all still talk about her. Now the new series is based on facts of her life . Her sister said the reason of doing the series on Netflix was because there so much you can put in a movie. Plus Susie is the executive producer of the series. As you can see that selena meets Beyonce and Beyonce was huge fan of hsr..
This concert was on February 26, 1995. In real life, Selena finds out about Yolanda and confronts her on March 9, 1995. They did it out of order as they did the movie, She did have performance on March 8th, 1995. As well as other concerts after she found out about Yolanda but there’s no actual full footage of her performing after March 8th :(
6:33 it was her earing. The first one fell off then she took off the second one after and threw it. Love the disco medley!! Epic!! At the time this music was about 20 years old. Now this music is almost 50 years old!!!
What’s crazy is she could have sang any genre. She was a deeper voice Whitney pretty much. She’s so hard to compare to today’s artist honestly, maybe Camilla but deeper.
Love this I was ten when she died and huge fan. Not many people know that her dad paid a guy that was giving tours of the city to tourist by horse and carriage to be the one to bring her into the astrodome! About a week ahead of time from what I understand they wanted a princess vibe for her big entrance. Supposedly her earpiece malfunctioned before this performance so she couldn’t her herself singing and was just singing as loudly as she could . Everything worked out because the band was a “well oil machine” by this point so to speak so they never missed a beat! Lol. She did one more private performance after this right before she died it was smaller and I BELIEVE it was for a charity and it raised over 35,000 dollars. I think it was a charity for battered women but I can’t remember now. She was an absolute Angel. She stayed after her performances sometimes for HOURS singing autographs and taking pictures with her fans! She told kids to stay in school and work hard for the things they wanted in life. She wanted a family one day and was surprisingly conservative in her values and beliefs. This concert was not just for her it was for the Houston astrodomes “tejano night” and they had artist of her background form and sing! Well she sold out tickets and beat Michael jackson’s record for that place.
The reason she took off her earring and threw it down was because her other earring fell while dancing at the beginning of this performance and she was into looking good and instantly took off her other earring to not look foolish wearing just one earring. She was very in tune with her appearance. A true Goddess that even designed her own clothes including that outfit in this video !!!!!
I was five when her passing and around that time I was already into the tejano culture it was in our blood, I was listening to her casets while in the car when my parents would go running around our town ahh memories
Hard for a singer on stage to sound good without an earpiece. They cannot hear themselves and therefore don’t know the pitch of their own voice... remember the hot mic moment from Enrique Iglesias? He sounded horrible
@@CAFETIBURON Yeah it's very difficult but Selena was able to pull it off. The dome was so huge that the sound was delayed by 10 seconds, so Selena had to be right on time. This makes me appreciate her even more, so talented.
@@CAFETIBURON The ear piece technology wasn't invented yet when Selena was alive. The way she heard herself back was through the speakers on the stage floor in front of her. Those speakers were the feedback for the entire band.. On the CD liner notes of this concert Selena's keyboardist Ricky Vela said playing the Astrodome was no easy task. Due to the ambiance and feedback of that large stadium it was hard to stay on beat and on top of that add a screaming crowd of 60,000 people. He said it was the hardest concert they've ever played.
