A out 3 months ago, my granddaughter decided she’d help me water my plants, I did mention to her not to water that particular plant because the soil need to dry in between waterings, she must of not heard me because she watered it. About 3 days later I started getting yellow spotting on about 4 or 5 leaves which I ended up loosing. At about the months time after this situation, I noticed little balls of fungus on the top of the soil. I waited for it to completely dry up and at the next watering I took a spoon and scraped about 1/4 inch of top soil from the plant to try and eliminate this fungus. I’m keeping an eye on it to see if the leaves start turning yellow and the fungus grows back. Please let me know if I’m missing something to try and save my plant. Thank you.

I am so glad I discovered this video! I have a money tree I purchased from Ikea when it was only about 10" tall. It is now a 7' tall tree. I am in central Florida. It is outside, in my pool cage but under a roof. It faces east and gets morning sun. By noon it is in full shade but because the sun reflects off the pool it still gets a lot of light. This year we had a mild, wet winter. I have had greater than normal leaf loss, and a lot of the leaves, especially lower leaves and those more exposed to the sun, have turned brown at the tips. I am not sure if the pot is too small, if it needs fertilizer, if it is a fungus issue, or I am not watering correctly. Advice?
Hey Mary, I think in Florida the climate may be perfect for these plants. It's very sunny, warm and humid. If the tips turn brown, maybe you don't water it enough and being under the bright sun, the leave still get a bit burned? I would change the place of the plant and would observe if it continues. As for repotting, they don't need a big pot, but if it's still in the nursery pot, maybe it needs fresh soil and/or fertilizing.
Hey Shareef, I'd like to give you some plant names, but I'll need to know in which climate will you be growing these plants. :) Also, would you like plants for garden or houseplants?

Hello! I really enjoyed your video. We just bought this plant and after watching your video, I fear we may have over watered it and also would move it outside sometimes for sunlight because it’s located by a window but the window is draped. The leaves are dying at the tips and kind of curling. Could you please tell me what you think?
I purchased a small plant from Lowes and am concerned because it was sitting in a drainage pot inside a ceramic pot in about 1-1/2in of water. I repotted it after reading on line that they should not be sitting in water. Now a week later, the bottom leaves are turning yellow and falling off. What should I do to save this plant?
Hey Jack. If you think the roots may be rotten, I would recommend taking it out of the soil, checking and removing all rotten roots and planting it again. But also, maybe it's just bottom older leaves. It can be natural. Maybe observe it for a bit, if more leaves get yellow than definitely check the roots
Thank you for this amazing and informative video! I bought my first money tree 3 weeks ago and it’s been happy. But.. it’s leaves started curling a little inward and some backward, and i was wondering what’s the problem. Color of all the leaves are normal green without any spots, it has bright indirect light. I know it’s hasn’t been a long time since I brought it home, but im trying to take a good care. Can overwatering be the problem? Or opposite? Or am I overpanicking and that’s normal…
Merci pour ta vidéo 👍 Je savais pas mal de choses que tu as dites, mais pas toutes. Ou alors il faut que je coupe la tige pour qu'une nouvelle pousse ? D'avance merci pour ta réponse 👍
It will be better if you repot it in fresh soil, which will not be wet. Don't water it that much and before repotting cut all rotten roots. :) Hope it helps. It will not recover itself, if the roots are rotting it will move even to the stems
I've gone through 3 money tree's. I'm typically pretty good with indoor plants, but this particular plant is just a pain in the ass to take care of. Tried watering it once every 2 weeks, died after 3 months. Current one I have, tried watering it once a week and now one of the branches has already died. And I am keeping it in an indirect light area. Maybe I am just not buying a healthy tree.
Yes, of course. The burnt leaves will not recover, but the new ones will be healthy. I am sure you already moved the plant from the sun :) so it should be fine
Improper temps meaning it was cold? If yes, then most probably the leaves are damaged, they will turn yellow, then brown, then will fall off. But the new ones will grow.
Hi i need urgent help!! All the leaves have fallen from my money tree and tip is dry, can I still save it?! The trunk still looks healthy. Can I cut the dead end? 😢
Hey Mayra, you can cut the dead parts. But also, take it out of the pot, check the roots, cut everything that's rotten, plant it up again in fresh soil, don't water too much and too often. Also, there will be a rubber band holding all branches together, you can remove it. The branches will still stay braided
Iridescent light for 2 hours a day was what was recommended. I couldn't find an iridescent bulb at Menards. I got a Stonepoint low heat output full spectrum grow bulb. Money tree likes swamps? Why are my plants leaves dying? I received it as a gift from my granddaughter when it was very small. It's grown pretty tall but the leaves are falling. What can I do to stop them from falling?

Hi. I would suggest taking the plant out of the soil, checking the roots, if they are not rotten, then plant it in a pot, based on the root system. They don't need big pots. Hopefully, it's not rotten, but I doubt it, as otherwise the stems wouldn't get dry :(

What about using a self-watering pot? Its a pot that has a grill on the bottom that separates the soil from the water on the bottom? The water is supposed to collect on the bottom and keep the plant watered.
Hi, My plant leaves have been rotting and falling off once I moved it to a new pot after getting it from store. I moved it into a pot which has succulent soil. Can you tell me If it is okay? Also, Can I place it in a round pot?
Hey Soy, I think your plant is a bit stressed. First bringing the plant to our homes from a store is stressful for plants because they change their environment that they are used to. So, the light, humidity, temperature - everything is different. And then repotting is another stress. I think it needs time to recover. And yes, you can plant it in a round pot, the shape doesn't matter. Succulent soil is ok.
@@soysushi5365 I believe they should be fine, as pothos plants are very easy growing plants. Maybe add some bark and perlite to it, if you have, but it's not a must?
So number nine I have a good size pot for my money tree and it has holes in the bottom so what am I supposed to do cover up some of the holes because it does run out from the bottom and someone told me to put it on top of some rocks and keep a little bit of water in the pan where the rocks are because it needs moisture is this true
I have been babying my large money tree for 6 months replanting repotting etc but still dying. Little new shoots pop up but then today another large stem broke off from rot...it is down to only 3 very small stems started with 6 large ones???
Hey Ann, if it's white-silvery irregular spots, it's most probably thrips. I have a separate video on thrips and how they look like, and how to get rid of them. Look for them especially under the leaves, but also on the leaves. They can be tiny white, green and black. If you find one, most probably they are on all plants and you need to treat all plants, even if you don't see any spots yet. They lay eggs everywhere and don't even need a partner for that
Well, I believe that I unfortunately did six out of 10 of the do not the worst one is watering the stems now the stems are dead I do have one extension coming out with leaves. Is there a way that I can save my money plant after I have done this I did not know that I shouldn’t water the stems the bottom and I also did not takeoff the elastic so it is basically crumbling apart.
Maybe it's still possible to save it. You can take it out of the soil, remove all rotten parts and repot in fresh soil (do not overwater), also choose a smaller pot, if you remove a lot of roots.
My plant leaves start drying up at the tips and eventually the whole leaf dries and falls off.. I have lost few plants due to this. Any ideas what might be the problem here?
Hello, fairly new money tree mom here. I received a money tree for my birthday in March, but my leaves are now light green and slightly wrinkled/ shriveled up. They are in all sorts of directions up and down. Am I watering too much? I put about 3 tbsp of filtered water once a week or sometimes just coat the top of the soil well. Is this too much? How can I check for root rotting? Also I have a pot with no holes. Never picked up the tree to see if there is a plastic one inside though. Clearly I'm not a plant person and am really trying to keep my little tree alive. Thank you in advance. :)
Hey Chasity. I think the problem may be in a pot with no holes. No matter how much you water, the bottom will always be moist, as there is no air ventilation and sooner or later the tree will get rotten. I would suggest that you repot the tree in a pot (not big) with big holes and use sandy soil that will get dry quicker
Hello I have two small money trees in the same pot with a hole at the bottom, I water it it maybe once or twice a week, and it’s been in the same spot for months, but up until recently the tips of some of my leaves have been turning brownish yellow, and also a little bit of brown spotting do you know what might be causing this? Even some of my young leaves that are coming in.
Hi Female Dragon. :) If the tips are brown and dry, it maybe because of dry air? Especially now when the weather is so much warmer? Of course, depending where you live :)

Thank you so much this helped me with my plants 🍀
I'm so glad!💜🪴
What do you think the leave tips of my money tree turns brown? Appreciated it if you can tell.
It may be dry air, but also overwatering, if they leaves look droopy.
All the leaves fell off my money tree and it looks like the stems are drying out. Is there any hope to revive it?
Mine is the same.
Can u plz suggest what plants to buy during February month ..so that during Summers I can have lovely flowers
Hey Shareef, I'd like to give you some plant names, but I'll need to know in which climate will you be growing these plants. :) Also, would you like plants for garden or houseplants?

I have a Pachira Aquatica plant . It loves it by my south window. It gets the morning and afternoon sun coming in. It is now drooping at the bottom only the rest are good. I also put it on my front porch it gets a lot of sunshine it loves that it really grows then. I water it once a week in the house and twice outside. Please let me know why it’s drooping? The leaves are not falling. Thank you.
Hi Nancy, maybe the air humidity is low?
@@AnnasViolets hi thank you for replying back. Right after the afternoon sun came out it perked right up. I will keep an eye out for the humidity though thank you again. My plant was given to me she un braided it to. I left it as it was.
I hope it will grow nicely :)
@@AnnasViolets thanks Anna. All my plants are grouped together.
It will come back . I was overwatering and all the leaves fell off and came back . Took about 3 months
Hi Aiturgan, overwatering can cause it, indeed. Reduce watering a little bit and the new leaves should be fine.
Thank you interesting to learn about how to grow money tree to take good care thank your so smart
So nice of you, thank you so much!
Hi, can I grow money tree plant in a self watering pot? Thanks
Hey Maro. I wouldn't recommend it for this plant, as it gets rotten pretty easy :(
What kind soil I should buy for Money Tree
I have all links in the description of the video 💜💚
Love this info and the funny 😄 opps in the middle 😄 thanks for that
Glad you liked it! Yes, recording is not smooth sometimes :)
What should I do after a possible root rot , does it eventually fix itself ?
Does the pot have big drainage holes? Is it in a sandy, well-drained soil? Does the soil get dry between the watering?
Don’t put too much water in it, just do ice cubes once per week, these type of plants don’t like too much water and too much sun.
Thank you, God bless,. Amen
Thank you too

Hello thanks for the information I'm wondering if I can save mine I think I sun burned it...the leaves are so brown
Yes, of course. The burnt leaves will not recover, but the new ones will be healthy. I am sure you already moved the plant from the sun :) so it should be fine

If i mix cactus and succent and potting mix soil, does the money tree will survive and grow?
If my leaves are pale due to improper temps, can they turn dark green again if the issue is resolved?
Thank you. I will follow your recommendation and hopefully it works 🤞🏽
Iridescent light for 2 hours a day was what was recommended. I couldn't find an iridescent bulb at Menards. I got a Stonepoint low heat output full spectrum grow bulb. Money tree likes swamps? Mist it with humidifier. It seems to be doing good. In addition to indirect sunlight I bask it for 2 hours in this light. Is this light good?
Why are my plants leaves dying? I received it as a gift from my granddaughter when it was very small. It's grown pretty tall but the leaves are falling. What can I do to stop them from falling?
I have a couple money trees (one big one and a small one) they both came with curling leafs. Is there anything I can do to make the leafs get straight?
Hi Carolina, check for insects under the leaves and roots. It may be getting rotten
So good to know. I’m so glad my money tree is flourishing. Great tips. Certain plants are particular
Yes they are! These are amazing plants and yours is also very beautiful!

I have one of these and there are 5 braided stems. One of them is kind of squishy and the small leaf from that stem is browning. The soil is dry though, could it still be root rot? What should I be looking for on the roots?

Hi. I would suggest taking the plant out of the soil, checking the roots, if they are not rotten, then plant it in a pot, based on the root system. They don't need big pots. Hopefully, it's not rotten, but I doubt it, as otherwise the stems wouldn't get dry :(

Thank you Anna, I was wondering can I plant my propogated pothos into herb soil mix or do I need to get indoor soil for it?

I have been babying my large money tree for 6 months replanting repotting etc but still dying. Little new shoots pop up but then today another large stem broke off from rot...it is down to only 3 very small stems started with 6 large ones???
Hey Judy. Yes, when these plants start to rot, it's very hard to save them. Maybe you could cut some green stems for propagation?
The leaves in mine is now getting some white spots and it looks like something is definitely wrong. Any advice

Hi Swapna, it usually happens in autumn, when the temperatures drop. In which climate do you grow this plant?
@@AnnasViolets Okay, I will try that. Thank you.
Hiw much water does it need? I have a small one
I let it dry between watering
Soo helpful, thank you!

Even some of my young leaves that are coming in.
Hi Female Dragon. :) If the tips are brown and dry, it maybe because of dry air? Especially now when the weather is so much warmer? Of course, depending where you live :)
