Charlottesville and outskirts. Count on needing at least $70 to $80k income for a single person if you want to live more than a marginal lifestyle. Much more if you have a family. Real estate and rental prices outrageous. There is a small food scene. Not talking about chains. Wineries, cider makers, breweries. Lots of outdoor activities. Beautiful scenery. Weather is challenging if you're sensitive to that. Brutally hot summers and sometimes no relief until October. Long, grey, dark winters with some snow but spring is glorious when it bursts into being. Fall also very beautiful with nice weather. Have a master's degree or higher and/or be very proficient in your field if you're not already an entrepreneur. Great place to live seasonally if you're ultra wealthy. High earnings necessary to be comfortable, at any rate. Traffic is not much of an issue when compared to Wash DC. There is white vs Black discomfort and strife, unfortunately, much of it due to disparity of opportunities and lingering Southern racism. Historic scene outstanding. You can easily take the train to NYC. Some crime and quite a few "iffy" areas that have resisted gentrification thus far. Be aware at night; there are predators everywhere, even here. Lots of homeless and few resources are spent on them for such a wealthy community; it's disappointing to see. Airport is easy and most convenient to use. It can be a nice place to live if you're shielded by wealth; not so much if you're existing modestly.
I love your video. There is a yoga retreat center called "Yogaville" located by Charlottesville. If a person wanted to buy a lot and put a manufactured home between Charlottesville and Yogaville - how difficult would it be? How much would a lot go for? What are the county rules for manufactured housing. Thank you for your help. I am 60 years old that loves yoga and also wants to be close to a small city :).
Great video- very informative and interesting. Keep up the hard work you guys are putting into these videos. I am looking to move to Virginia in the not too distant future but am a bit worried right now with the high and climbing mortgage rates.
The Downtown Mall: lovely. The aggressive panhandlers there who frighten people--especially women, not so lovely. They also sleep in the doorways of some of the shops. Should it get much worse it could destroy the mall, as it has in other cities. And a city council that either can't or won't address the problem: very frustrating, as are many of their decisions that are driven by a progressive ideology over common sense.
Charlottesville has 2 major medical facilities. UVA uvahealth.com/locations/University-Hospital-5597244 As well as Martha Jefferson www.sentara.com/hospitalslocations/martha-jefferson-hospital/directions-parking

What a fair assessment! Great video :)
Thank you! Please let us know if you have any real estate needs!
I was greatly amused when the man referred to Charlottesville as a "small town". The town that I live in has less than 1,000 people.
Thank.you for watching! Yes, Charlottesville has a lot to offer yet is smaller.than cities like Richmond and Washington DC!
As someone from the expensive, high-salary DC metro area, Charlottesville salaries appear relative to the cost of living.

2 hours "up the road" nova housing close in easily double the price of charlottesville per square foot. It's all relative.
Yes. It is! Thank you for watching!
