I love you. Sorry, Annie! If Annie wasn't the luckiest girl in the world... I wanted to be. Don't worry, he don't know me, Annie. I'm a long time admirer. I was hoping my long time love would be like Shawn... but it wasn't to be. He played guitar, and I made up lyrics on the fly. He was the apple of my eye. One day, though, he went away... kicked me out, brought a blonde home to play. Well, she had all the dreams I made, I was on the corner selling lemonade. Spent a few years cryin' hard, on the stool of the local bar. Every time Shawn Mullins plays, on the jukebox... ohhh the mem'ries. Back of the 4runner, under the trees, riding along, the wind in my hair... one more for the road, barkeep. My love is away, there's no real chance, I'll ever trust again in that there dance. My heart was broke, and I guess you could say... maybe it still is today. I've been through the ringer, never seen a ring on this finger... that stayed. Well, my past love, he looked an awful lot, like some dude playing guitar in back of the Walmart parking lot. I think I thought my love had soul. He's single now, and we're both kind of old. My last love died a tragic death. There's more to say, but I shan't. My once true love ran to another, so there's no way, I can't. I kind of placed my hollow heart away from all the fellas... imagined maybe one day I'd get to meet Shawn Mullins. We'd talk, we'd laugh, he'd play a riff, I'd sing some lyrics back. We'd eventually say "goodbye", fate always steps in... I don't know why. In fertile ground of imagination, dreams I've set down in this pagination... as goofy as it makes me sound.
