A Guide to the Midnight Horrors event boss: Portland. All from my experience in solo.
[General Facts before the battle.]
Portland has two bars, a health bar (red) and a stagger bar (white). Stagger functions as a sort of armour and can be refilled through a specific attack. Health cannot be refilled and bosses cannot automatically regenerate health.
All phases of the boss fight go by a mechanic called Scenes/Turns, this being their attack(s). The amount of attacks a boss casts depends on the amount of ability selection (clicks) you hear during their neutral. Once a Scene is finished, the boss will go back to their neutral state, often walking around aimlessly until they finish selecting attacks for the next Scene.
[Phase 1: Portland, the Black Silence.]
This phase is most definitely the easiest for both groups and solo players. Portland has half of his original LoR arsenal, and he only uses one to two attacks every Scene.
Combat Deck:
-Old Hammer Workshop (Old Boy Workshop): A single, fast slam of a hammer, causing an AOE shockwave. Once it hits a target, Portland recovers a small part of his stagger bar. This attack often catches players off guard if it comes first, so during neutral, always be ready to dodge once he starts a Scene.
-Night Reaper (Durandal): Two diagonal slashes with a delay on a second. Whether or not MH was faithful to LoR and gave Portland a strength buff on hit is unknown. Dodge the first slash and either move out of the way or parry the second to take advantage of an opening.
-Secare Atelier (Crystal Atelier): Two swords that make two cross cuts with a delay on the second. If it hits, the player is inflicted with a debuff. Same strategy as Night Reaper.
-Claw Workshop (Ranga Workshop): Three lunges with claws that auto targets the nearest player. Very fast, hard to predict. Again, get ready to dodge if Portland casts this after his neutral. His third slash, if targeting you, can be parried somewhat easily, dodging isn't recommended unless this is his last attack in a Scene.
-Judgement Cut (Mook Workshop): One big, AOE sphere of slashes that lasts for a good 2 seconds. This is a multi hit slash circle, so you're either advised to parry, or completely maneuver yourself out of the area.
[Phase 2: Beast Mode/ Remnant of the Smoke War.]
Having a larger health pool in exchange for no Stagger bar and more predictable attacks, use openings in certain attacks to your advantage, and chip him off either in neutral or said openings.
Combat Deck:
-Shockwave: Raising two arms up, Portland slams them into the ground, causing a massive shockwave to manifest. Either jump over the shockwave, or parry the initial slam to get enough I-Frames to get you through the shockwave. Note that said shockwave can be passed through with your dodge. You can also jump and attack him at the same time if you're close enough to the boss.
-Swipe: One big sweep in front. Best to move out of the way, but you can parry or dodge should you be in a sticky situation.
-Slam: Two one-handed slams, causing tentacles to launch out of the ground on contact with said ground. Move diagonally to get out of the way, or move behind to get an opening.
-Rush: A white circle will appear on Portland's body before he lunges forward with speed. If you have good ping, it's best to dodge or parry it and exploit the opening he leaves behind. Otherwise, side dodge to maneuver yourself out of the way.
-Forest of Horrors: Stabbing his hands into the ground, Portland creates a large amount of tentacles surrounding him. This is the easiest attack to exploit, provided you're aware of your surroundings. Dash in for a few safety I-Frames, get a few good hits, and prepare yourself for his next move, should he have more in his Scene.
(Guide continues in the replies.)
[Phase 3: Portland and Dummelica.]
This is where the boss fight truly starts to hold it's ground.
Now faced with the threat of two bosses, there are strategies with more or less the same concept, but with different executions.
For solo players, circle around the arena and try to provoke ONLY Portland into attacking you. Repeat the running strat once you feel Dummelica will get in range.
For players in a group, divide your team into two halves, one to deal with Portland, one to deal with Dummelica. It's best to send players who are best at dealing with Portland/ Dummelica to their respective targets.
The key strat here is to focus on attacking Portland, as each attack landed on him will also damage Dummelica by a larger amount. But if you're in a group, try your absolute best to slide in a few hits if you can on either of them.
In this phase, Portland has the same arsenal as his phase 1 counterpart, and Dummelica has the remaining 4 of the 9 Black Silence weapons. For newer players, it's best to focus on Portland in case you are overwhelmed by the new attacks.
Combat Deck (Portland):
Very fast, hard to predict, reasonably long range.
Combat Deck (Dummelica):
-Fork Workshop (Allas Workshop): Four lunges with uncomfortably long range. Dodge the first two, and try to maneuver or parry the last lunges.
-Sharpshooter Logic (Atelier Logic): Two bullets from two pistols that slows on hit, and a final bullet from a sniper that stuns on hit. Fast activation, unpredictable, assumed infinite range. In some cases, you can move sideways to completely render the attack useless. If you are unfortunately hit by the first two bullets, you still have a window to dodge or parry the last one.
-Belt Workshop (Zelkova Workshop): Two belts that do two sets of attacks, with the second having a slight delay from the first. It's range is absolutely horrendous, so as long as you make distance, you should be okay. Note that parrying this attack isn't advised as you still have a chance to get hit through the parry.
-Fish Industry (Wheel Industry): Dummelica slams a giant sword into the ground two times, causing a massive AOE shockwave. Both can be jumped over, but if you're hit by the first attack, parrying the second isn't the worst idea.
[Phase 4: E.G.O Portland]
This, and the final phase is where most runs eventually go in the concept incinerator.
Here, your surroundings become black and white, no impact on anything else whatsoever, just wanted to point that out.
Portland will now use his arsenal's full potential, with all 9 weapons of the Black Silence at his command.
There is no new strategy.
Deal with him as you would in phase 1, and most importantly, **survive**.
-Fork Workshop (Allas Workshop): Two lunges with uncomfortably long range. Noticeable delay on the second lunge. Dodge or parry both to exploit a short opening.
-Belt Workshop (Zelkova Workshop): Two belts that do a set of attacks. It's range is absolutely horrendous, so as long as you make distance, you should be okay. Note that parrying this attack isn't advised as you still have a chance to get hit through the parry.
-Fish Industry (Wheel Industry): Portland slams a giant sword into the ground, causing a massive AOE shockwave. Failure to parry or dodge can result in a panic, so if it ever comes down to it, keep your head cool.
[Phase 5: E.G.O Portland + Power of the Distortion.]
At a certain health point in Phase 4, Portland will surround the arena with a damaging black fume, no running now.
This phase gives Portland a few noticeable upgrades to his arsenal, as well as two new attacks.
In this stage of the fight, it's best to count out his attacks before going in to get some hits on him. Use the ability selection sound effects to your advantage and chip him off little by little.
Jumping and keeping yourself on the move is probably your best safety measure, if you haven't been doing that since phase 3 already. Keep circling and going in diagonal directions, and counter the attacks to the best of your abilities.
In this phase, Portland releases tentacles for each Old Hammer Workshop cast.
Very fast, hard to predict reasonably long range.
In this phase, the attack has increased range and damage output.
-Fork Workshop (Allas Workshop): Six lunges with uncomfortably long range. Noticeable delay after each lunge. Move diagonally and alternate between parries and dodges to minimize damage.
-Belt Workshop (Zelkova Workshop): Two belts that do a set of attacks. It's range is absolutely horrendous, so as long as you make distance, you should be okay. Note that parrying this attack isn't advised as you still have a chance to get hit through the parry.
-Fish Industry (Wheel Industry): Portland slams a giant sword into the ground once or twice, causing a massive AOE shockwave and releasing tentacles each time. Failure to parry or dodge can result in a panic, so if it ever comes down to it, keep your head cool, and prepare to parry should he have a second slam in rotation. In this phase, if you get hit by the attack, you are inflicted with a slow debuff that lasts at least 2-3 seconds or so.
-Scream: Portland screams and unleashes a sphere, functioning as a multi hit AOE attack that can be devastating to the player if caught off guard. Can be multi parried, can be dodged.
-Stomp of Agony: Portland stomps into the ground twice, with a delay in between. Each stomp releases an array of tentacles, heading in a direction. Move away from the line of fire and do NOT attempt to parry it.
Good hunting, lads.

Because they are 5 stars games that very underrated

They just really know what they're doing when it comes to bosses
For real though, they cooked with bezel 💀
That's not 1st time this mid game had a limited boss like that?

Everytime i play item asylum i always see blacksouls fan fr no cap
Just a question
Can every attack in every phase be parrued/dodged?
i just recently beaten it and yeah you can parry and dodge every attack (idk about dummelicas alias workshop (the dash attack))
@MiraclePainter You can parry that but it sometimes still hurt you.
all attacks are parriable but attacks with sound cues like a warning sound arent parriable so you have to dodge
Thanks to this event (April fools), I learned about the game midnight horrors, a great game.
ps: to get the badge I made a total of 10 attempts
yesterday i did it first try (team of 12 or 14 and me and 4 other guys ended up surviving with alot of patience on grief buff)
found out too late since the community is dead
3 tries - me and two of my friends
Impossible hatta escape wonderland garden she come fight with port gone!?
i wonder how i get to the boss fight? do i have to wait in the sever?
tsk. Wait until (!event!) Map shows up and go to the yellow circle.
You could also go to private server, use testimony at the bottom left corner, go all the way down to bus stop and set it to that. End yourself when the killer spawns to get there faster
You can roll cancel in item asylum??
top 10 anime battle
I hate the fifth phase. It should have either upgraded his attacks or made the zone, not both. No time to heal, can get killed in one attack while at full health, and still no time to attack. It goes from manageable and fun to how is this humanly possible
great
NOW DO NO HIT
Nice almost failing 5 times
Jesus Christ dude
now do it no hit
average pilgrammed/deepwoken player skills
so how do we do the round in a private server
Force the event map with the testimony (The map is at the very bottom of the list), then you go to the circle
How to fight that boss? Its that a other map?
Is cloud jockey still exist?
Yes but it is no longer free (same with radio)
