    According to the IMDb, it was made in 1925 for a party given by Pickford and Fairbanks.

    Lol! Hope seeing this makes you check out "THE Kid", the Chaplin classic from 1921; it's a priceless classic. Little Jackie was such a natural and one of the very few who Chaplin truly "co-starred" with. I thought this had to be later than 1921 (and going by other posters' comments, it was 1925) since Jackie looked a little bigger than he did in the movie.
    Never seen or heard of this little film before; thank you SO much for sharing (love how Buster was on FIRST!

    The cut always occurs when he puts on the wig. He puts it on, then ducks down; the next person you see is the real star. Love the way Fairbanks jumps over the table!

  • @praguephotog
    @praguephotog 15 лет назад +4

    It would have been later - Harold Lloyd is doing the little jig from "The Freshman", and that film was released in 1925.

    So that's really THEM right???
    I was thinking "man, it looks JUST like them, there's no way it's all one guy!"
    What gave it away was the difference in heights. Jackie Coogan is no taller than the desk, but Valentino towers over it.

    • @MontagZoso
      @MontagZoso 7 лет назад +5

      Oh man, I did the exact same thing. I was fooled big time, ha ha! As soon as I saw "Buster Keaton" turn sideways and saw his profile, I had to go back and freeze the video, thinking, "Waiiiit a minute...no one has that profile/face but the real Buster." Ha ha. Unbelievable upload, I will probably watch this a million times now. :P

    at 2:14 you can see where they stopped the camera while he's dressing as Fatty Arbuckle. The edit is really bad cause the jacket on the coatrack shifts positions.

    It's pretty apparent that these are the actual stars and not just some guy dressing up like them. What's the story? Anybody know?

    This short can be found (with excellent commentary) on the Laughsmith DVD "Industrial Strength Keaton", along with a lot of other great rarities, and I hope this clip encourages you to buy it. I persuaded two friends to pick up copies just to get this short. Regardless, though, I hope as many fans and potential new fans as possible get to see this great piece of film history while it's here.

    Great video clip and I've given you five stars. I've created a video clip featuring Douglas Fairbanks and many other 1920's movie stars.

  • @josephcalderon906
    @josephcalderon906 8 лет назад

    A Everyone who knows of this surprisingly entertaining film short believes it was made around 1925.but iam not one of them, after watching this little but very enjoyable film i'd noticed the costumes on these great stars from this first era of american movies is that mr.fairbanks costume is from robin hood. jackie's outfit from oliver twist and harold;'s suit is the same black one he wore in near the end of dr. jack and most of safety last!. and buster's suit is a fitting version of his garb from his shorts period and three ages. so i'm really assuming this was filmed probably in the 1922-1923 season.

    • @MontagZoso
      @MontagZoso 7 лет назад +1

      Just looked up Carter De Haven on Wiki and it mentioned this character study as being filmed in 1923. Imdb lists it as 1927, as its public release, but also says it was filmed two years earlier, in 1925 for a party thrown by Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford. 1925 sounds about right! ;)

    where's Charlie Chaplin?

    • @MontagZoso
      @MontagZoso 7 лет назад +1

      I hope Charlie Chaplin was not missing from this because he thought too highly of himself or something. I hope he was just busy and couldn't do it.

  • @JohnsonBrand2000

    It's a shame Chaplin was too much of a shit-heal to play along!
